Locally made furniture from hand carved wooden bowls to chests, hutches, side tables and more. They have a whole room for your garden- pots, little signs, shelving for your herb garden. There is a whole kitchen section with glass measuring cups, white ceramic and pottery canisters, salt pepper shakers, etc.. Lots of items you can use for gifts or in a gift basket. The adventure started before we even entered, with a chalk arrow leading to a hop-and-skip game and a koi pond. Inside, we were welcomed by the resident Siamese cat, which immediately delighted my four-year-old. He loved exploring the shop, touching and examining the stones, and feeding the koi before we left. Our favorite part was the geode-cracking station. We chose our own geode, and the owner cracked it open right in front of us to reveal the quartz crystals inside. It was fascinating to watch, especially for my son, and the geode cost only $15. The owner and his family were incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The shop has a huge and beautifully displayed selection of minerals, gemstones, fossils, shells, geodes, and other natural treasures. The enormous ammonite fossil was especially impressive, and parts of the shop felt more like a museum gallery. The prices were very fair, too. For only $55, I purchased the geode, a quartz obelisk, a quartz pyramid, amethyst, rose quartz, and a sage bundle. Every item was carefully wrapped in thick tissue paper for the trip home. Earth Forged would be wonderful for families, collectors, geology enthusiasts, or anyone looking for a unique and educational outing. My child and I had an amazing time, learned a lot, and left excited about everything we had discovered. This hidden gem is absolutely worth a visit!

The store is located INSIDE the Log Cabin little house called Butterfly Consignment, but don't worry she's got her own store in there, and there are a few other separate stores too. Just pull into the Flea Market and go to the left and you'll see the log cabin. Plenty of parking too. A very nice lady named Carolyn also has Angelic Light Energies in there too, and she does Angelic Healing Sessions. Unlike other downtown Athens antiques stores, this one does not feature many hand-painted local pieces and does not include 1818 Farms from Mooresville items (but you can get an edited selection of 1818 items across the street at U G White). My sister and I went because she wanted a painting of a landmark in Paris, that was done on silk. It was actually well done, and the sheen of the silk was beautiful in that it glistened! I had never seen a painting done on silk before. It was nicely framed, and I thought, a good value at $40.00. She also bought a set of 3 individual crocks her friend loved when they previously visited. They totaled ~ $34.00. This is a nice antiques store with a friendly staff and a fun place to browse in downtown Athens.
