I'd been distraught over losing my previous waxer to a move. It took over a year for me to screw up the courage to find another one. I went to Jane for the first time yesterday for a Brazilian and a brow wax. The other reviews were right on. Jane is FANTASTIC! She's extremely personable and made me feel comfortable exposing my lady bits to a stranger. She's also very knowledgable about skin, and made some recommendations that I'll probably take later on. My only caution is not to get there too early. I was about 20 minutes early, but the lady who owned the salon made me wait outside (although she did suggest that I sit and wait at the nearby McDonald's). Omg! Jane is fab! She is a true hustler! She works alone because she's a true perfectionist. She is so quick, sweet and through. I came here after a bad experience the other day and she fixed it fabulously! I am so happy that I found this place... I recommend for everyone! Don't get upset if she doesn't answer... [UPDATE] Jane has changed my life. Yes she has! I didn't realize when I went in for brows that she can also help with your skin. I have been suffering from terrible, large pimples on my chin for years. I've been going to a dermatologist who's prescribed really harsh medication that was just making it worse. Because of some simple treatments and STELLAR face-care advice, I threw away my prescriptions and my pimples are GONE! You have no idea how much this means to me! --------- I had been scouring the web for a new place to get my eyebrows threaded after recently moving to Seattle. Jane was highly reviewed so I opted to give her a try. Not only is she a great person, she does great work. The place was a bit hard to find - it's a little gem in the corner of a random strip-mall in northern Seattle. The first time I walked in, I didn't have an appointment! I thought she did walk-ins. Nope! And I do apologize for inconveniencing the other customers. Jane was able to squeeze me in. Next time I do know better than to just barge in. So make sure you make an appointment with her first! She literally does a full evaluation of your eyebrows to give you the best results. You might have a hard time finding the studio your first time. It is all the way tucked into a corner with no sign. But once you walk into the place, it is so pretty! I love all of the modern decor. She even has a washing machine and a dryer in there! That's another plus- you know she's clean! She also changes the seating cloth after every customer! yay for cleanliness! As for the eyebrow threading, it is the least painful experience. I have my eyebrows done at many other places and boy, those ladies do try to rip your skin off. Also if Jane notices a beauty regime that you are not doing right, she will give you advice on how to make it better. I love that she is very honest and make sure her clients feel very comfortable. If I could give more stars I would. JYC is the best place. Even if I moved an hour or two away, I would still come to this place. I stumbled upon JYC accidentally while looking for something completely different. Best find on yelp to date. I've only been to see Jane twice but am already a fan. On my first visit, she notices certain things with how my previous gal was doing things and recommended ways to prevent some maladies from occurring. She was courteous and her knowledge about her craft is unparalleled by anyone else I've encountered. This second time I was stuck in horrendous traffic (if I could give I-5 and I-90 zero stars, I would) I completely missed my appointment. Knowing i came from quite a distance, Jane squeezed me in and still took the time needed for the appointment. What can I say, I rarely encounter customer service like she provides and I have worked in places like Nordstrom and Williams Sonoma myself. She is, simply, the best. I hate to let the world know about JYC in fear of never getting in to see Jane, but she is that good that I cannot keep quiet about how great she is. read more

I love Jane. She does amazing job at at a very reasonable price. She is funny and charming and very personable, to boot. Her studio is hidden away in a little strip mall. Once you are inside, there are super comfy sofas and lots of gossip mags to read while you wait. This place is awesome, Jane is awesome! After reading nothing but great reviews about her services I decided to make an appointment a couple days before going out of town, and crossed my fingers she'd be able to schedule me in that same day. Not only did she fit me in, she also scheduled me at the end of her normal business hours. She had just recently moved into her own space in the same shopping mall strip she was previously at, so I can't compare the locations, but it was very easy to find, and there is plenty of parking (a plus compared to other places where street parking is the only option). I'm not sure if she's gotten a bell for her door yet, as I arrived a bit early to my appointment and she didn't hear me walk in and when she saw me she jumped! Oops! Hopefully this has changed since then. I have been to a couple other places for different services and While the pain doesn't bother me that much, someone who can't carry a conversation to take away the awkwardness of things does. But let me tell you, Jane can certainly carry a conversation! As other reviewers have already noted, she's super friendly and easy to talk to. I found my waxer and threader! Not going to anyone else! She showed me exactly what I did wrong with my eyebrows and she reshaped it! I love my new brows! I found Jane at Studio JYC via Yelp when I moved to Seattle 5 years ago -thank you fellow Yelpers! Even when I was living closer to South Seattle, I made the trek to go see Jane because she's THAT GOOD. I will trust nobody else with my wax needs. She's informative, knowledgeable, gives great advice and makes you feel comfortable regardless of what the service is. In all these years, I've never had a single ingrown hair or any other problems that you might have going elsewhere. The studio is super clean and comfortable. Jane gives skin advice and has helped with getting some of my crazy chin zits under control! I appreciate that she's professional, honest, straight forward and funny! She treats you like one of her gfs which makes the experience that much more enjoyable. She ALWAYS makes time for me/squeezes me in and I can make an appointment easily by text. Moving to a new city can be daunting - especially when you have to find your new favorite waxing, nail, and hair salons. Discovering Jane's salon was remarkably easy -- 5 stars from all other reviews are no lie!! Even though it's a a little bit of a drive from where I live, it is definitely worth the trip. I went to get my eyebrows threaded. Be prepared to not be over-threaded. I left feeling like she missed a few areas, BUT she is so knowledgeable about technique that we agreed to let my brows grow out a little so we can give them the right shape next session. I was be able to get last minute appointment with Jane last week. I originally want to try sugar but she can only do wax that day, if I want sugar, I have to wait until tomorrow, since I want to do it asap and she also convinced me to stay on wax (according to her wax is less painful than sugar) I decided to stay on wax. She is a nice lady and didn't try to sell me up, when I ask her opinion for lash tinting, she told me it's useless. I appreciate her honesty. Now, what I got issue in is the hygienic and final result. I had a Brazilian, usually before u got wax, they will clean your area to disinfect it then some will put some lotion to reduce the pain then the wax is applied with the direction of hair growth, removed against the grain of hair growth. What Jane did is as soon as I lay down she put the paste and strip it right away. In the large area, usually they ask you to stretch your skin to reduce the pain and also cleaner result but Jane just keep pulling the hair and I notice it's in same direction as the hair growth, she probably think it'll reduce the pain. she use both hard and soft wax. She was fast though which I like but when I got home, I notice it's not clean at all. There's still hair left and lots of stubs unlike the baby smooth feeling I usually get after waxing. read more

Jane did my 2nd Brazilian waxing ever, and it was amazing. Having my hair pulled out had never been quite that fun. She's a great conversationalist and knows how to set a great mood for the experience. The first time I got my Brazilian, the aesthetician was terrible and there were extra hair that she kept going over. This is not the body area where anyone wants to be repeatedly waxed. Jane actually did a wax/sugar combo on me, and it gave fabulous results that lasted quite a while. I will definitely come monthly to her, and she's also highly affordable. I followed my friend to JYC so she could get a face peel and I could get a consultation, as my acne has been flaring up recently. I have been an avid Brazilian wax advocate for a few years now, and I have been shopping around for the best/cheapest option for my semi-regular waxing of the nethers, and I have found my girl. She doesn't leave an stragglers or stray hairs, she may bust out a ruler to confirm the symmetry of a freshly groomed bush, and she will answer thoroughly and knowledgeably any skin care questions. I'd never had my brows threaded before, used to get them waxed every couple months about 8 years ago but found it too harsh for my skin. I found Jane's StudioJYC on Yelp on a "threading" search and was impressed by the reviews and what she had to say on her own website. Making an appointment was very easy and she was so accommodating to my "trip to the city by ferry for haircut and other grooming" schedule. I was even a couple minutes late (I think I bypassed the entrance twice before getting the correct shopping area) and she was so sweet. As for the brows, she knew just what to do to make them their best and we chatted while she plucked. So easy going and fun to talk to, just a very kind person. She was meticulous about getting the brows right and I was extremely pleased with the results. She also gave me some tips about what to tell my stylist when getting my haircut (new bangs were on order and not too many layers or a straight across the bottom cut for my wavy-curly long hair--which btw she accurately described as looking like Darth Vader if cut incorrectly-HA!) I have never called her. always scheduled appointments via email and I have always gotten extremely fast replies. Her prices are SO much better than most other salons for better quality, so I have no problem with the lack of a receptionist.
