I woke up the next morning to an ESSAY on how our communication hasn't been hitting and he doesn't think I would be happy with anything he did. He then proceeded to accuse me of lying about when I reached out to him about the promotional deal saying he had "call logs" . So do I? I purchased the Groupon in January of 2025 and reached out to him in March. The deal didn't expire until July and was redeemable at any time. He didn't ever follow up with me. And when I reached out to him to schedule later, he didn't say a word about it. It wasn't until after I made the appointment and showed him a photo of a woman with light face framing and small highlights that he started bringing up all sorts of misconceptions from the past. He said he was keeping his text for legal reasons and told me that I was blocked from further communication. His text was also sprinkled with unprofessional emojis and just a horrible attitude overall. Telling me to "review away" and that his work speaks for itself. I was totally caught off guard by this, but as another person commented-- "narcissistic rage" was the perfect way to put it. Do not let such an unstable person touch your hair!

At approximately 2:19 in the morning (March 19) he texted my wife with the most unprofessional communication I've ever seen in my 57 year professional career as a global journalist. I don't know him but suspect mental fogginess as he claimed to have ADHD in the text. The text was filled with arrogance and narcissistic rage. Not only did he cancel her appointment he said that he never wanted to see her again. He said he needs to "part ways with you professionally indefinitely." This apparently came out of the previous session where we were nearly an hour late due to a medical appt. and after confirming with him that would be okay. He had left the salon even though we kept in touch by telephone. He could have rescheduled, but insisted it was okay and he came back. That was on him. He stated that "I totally felt used!" His 350 word unstable rant is unconscionable. Taryn may be talented, but this behavior is an ugly stain. Therefore, we would give your business a "O" star and recommend to our long list of friends and acquaintances that they stay away from Studio 31.

Disappointing experience…read more. Came in excited after seeing great curly cut results on my mom and niece. I paid $130 and left with barely a trim..no real shape or noticeable difference. I didn't speak up during the cut, as the stylist's tone made it very uncomfortable to do so. When I asked questions or suggested changes.. she went from using her very animated customer service voice (which was also uncomfortable....) to using a sarcastic and condescending voice with an irritated look on her face.. (Noya was my stylist) After going home and styling my hair myself.. I was really dissatisfied and decided to reach back out.. the receptionist was kind and helpful, I was told I'd get a phone call THAT DAY as well as a follow up text to rebook with the same stylist. well.. I didn't get the call but did get the text the NEXT DAY.. so i decided to just go elsewhere. Paid $25 at another salon and got exactly what I wanted. I'm sure it works for some, but for me, $130 for a trim vs. $25 for a great cut says everything. Culture club is a no for me.. they're #1 to pop up on google when you search "curly cut abq" but someone who cares about their clients satisfaction is much more fulfilling of an experience vs going somewhere simply for the hype.
