I have been using Su Alterations for years. So disappointed in my recent experience with them. They charged $75 for a hem on a prom dress. The lining was left longer than the overlay and it wasn't hemmed to the correct length. As a result, my daughter kept tripping over the dress and ripped it. When I brought the dress to them to show them my concerns, the seamstress blamed me for not trying it on before we picked it up. No one suggested or asked if she wanted to try it on. She was very rude and not helpful. The dress is ruined and I will not be using them anymore. read more

Quick and courteous. They completed the work sooner than I had expected, and could not have been more friendly.

$415 for sub-par results. Was told 2 weeks took over 6. I brought in yards of material and some attachments to be made into curtains to enclose a train layout. Simple instructions - all panels to be 74 inches hemmed with Velcro added to the sides and curtain header tape at the top so I can hang them off a hooks on a curtain rail. SUB-PAR results - all the panels are a different lenght. None of the hems are the same size. The mistakes in attaching the Velcro are visible throughout. Ragged threads. Was told the the Velcro I brought in wasn't good enough. They supposedly used what they had. Mine was never returned. They neglected to add the header tape to the black velvet as requested. I also left a yard each of various colors to be made into equal squares to be used as a valance. I didn't get an equal amount for some reason? You don't reach into a bag of material but once when you get stuck by a pin. All the color squares were pinned together and the pins were left OPEN. How stupid and neglectful. None of this can be fixed because Bridal Silver Satin once pierced leaves puncture marks as seen in photos. Su Alterations was supposed to call me first so I could verify after one was made. Never did. She saw me coming as they say and overcharged me for sub-par results. read more

I paid $15 for a hem that fell apart after one wash! The prices are very high and quality is not worth the money.

I dance for a living so I always have to get my dance suits and pants hemmed, fixed holes , etc. I've tried a few places but the service here is the best so far. 1. They've done really good with my clothes so far. 2. When I needed something done for a ballroom comp in a few days they got it done for me in2 days. 3. I ripped a favorite pair of pants and they patched those things up really well. 4. Price is good. The closest place to me is 5-7 more per item and takes longer . read more

Over priced hemming for pants, the lines aren't straight. The stitching looks pretty weak. And they cut off the old hem and charge extra if you wanna keep it. read more

I have absolutely NO IDEA why Su Alterations in Woodland Mall would get any negative reviews. I have taken so many garments there and they have all been exceptionally done. The pricing is fair and one time when this oddly constructed pair of pants wasn't quite right they took them back and made it perfect. I would never trust another shop and I live all the way out in Rockford and its worth the drive. My clothes have never fit better!! Alterations are life changing. well maybe that's a bit much but darn close. read more

I went in to get 2 things shortened. I asked a specific question on how one of the dresses would look shorter. The worker blew up at me for questioning her and told me to go somewhere else. I gladly took my business elsewhere It's unfortunate as I have used this place for years but the last 2 times I have had the same rude woman. read more

I have used their services for over 15 years, just mainly to shorten my pants. Always satisfied until, from one week to the other their price went up by 50%. When I asked why such a high increase, the answer was like a broken record... 15 dollars, no matter how I re-phrased the question the answer was over and over 15 dollars. Unfortunately, I have to say DO NOT GO HERE. I took two bridesmaids dresses here to be altered and both were done terribly. The first time one dress was too small, the other still too big. They hemmed the dress too short, and they removed the hanging hooks and stretched out the delicate lace fabric. After the second fitting, I still wasn't pleased, but I did not trust them to work on the dresses any further. I was extremely disappointed with the work they did. I asked for a refund and they refused to give me one. So, needless to say, I will not be going back to this place ever again. I prefer to do business with companies that stand behind their work and believe in customer satisfaction. read more

I brought my $300 fitted sheet to be altered last June and a year later the elastic is all stretched out. I bring it back to them and they said that I put it in the dryer on high and ruined the elastic. I get my simple tailoring done here: hems, zippers, missing buttons, stuff like that. They do a great job, they are easy to find in the mall with their own entrance from outside, with relatively quick turn around. I believe several other mall stores, including The Limited, uses them for their customer alteration jobs as well. I've never used them for anything more but I would trust them to do a good job. read more

I brought my wedding dress to Crystal and her team at the Portage location one week before my wedding, after another seamstress did sub-par work that brought me to tears. After a brief consult, they got to work and delivered a beautiful product that I was proud to walk down the aisle in. The dress fit like a glove, and the alterations were so seamless, you couldn't even tell that the dress had been altered. They also had it done a day sooner than expected!! I cannot thank them enough for fitting me in at the last minute, and doing such a great job. Their prices were reasonable and I would recommend them to everyone who needs alterations!! read more

I have had two horrible experiences at this shop. On the first occasion, they altered my denim without attaching the original hem, and charged me for doing so. I didn't realize until I got home, and then had to bring the pants back in. Luckily they hadn't thrown the hem away, but they did not refund me. On the second occasion, they quoted me a price as an "estimate" and stated that they would call before completing work. The actual price was 3 times more than the amount of the estimate! When I expressed my frustration, they stated that the estimate was for a tshirt and a base price, even though the item I had brought in was a dress. I will definitely not be returning or referring anyone here! read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! I have gone to them for years, but never have I been treated so poorly. I had the hem fine in a bridesmaid dress and you could see every stitch and it looked awful. The guy agreed that it looked bad and said they would try to fix it by hand stitching it. Before we got to that point, some lady was being extremely rude by rolling get eyes at me and throwing up her hands speaking another language walking away. When I came back to pick it up, you could still see the holes from the previous stitch job. I asked for a discount and they refused. THEN, I asked where the custom hanger with my sisters name written in wire was and they said they don't have it. There was NO apology at all. Instead he said I shouldn't have left a special hanger with them. I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM MY BUSINESS AGAIN!!! read more

I've brought several items here without any issues. I recently had a bridesmaid dress altered and asked for a high-low hem. It came back all one length, hemmed up to my knees. They insisted that I was confused and they did what I asked. It was also returned with a large greasy handprint stain on the front. I asked for them to send it in to be cleaned since it was brought in to them brand new, without stains. They offered me $5 off for the stain and charged me $60 for the alteration and dry cleaning. Now I will be standing up in my friends wedding with a short dress next to five other women with long or high-low hemmed dresses. Any reputable seamstress would have paid for a replacement dress and not charged for the incorrect alterations. read more

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. I went there to have a floor-length dress shortened. The owner, Su, had me put the dress on, looked at it, and told me I could take it off. I asked her if she was going to pin it and she said she did not need to. I did as she asked, and when I came back for pick up, the dress was still too long. Su's daughter was working at the desk and she and her mother were speaking to each other in another language and giving me dirty looks which made me feel uncomfortable. Then they both argued with me that they felt the dress was as it should be and would not shorten it more without charging me again. Always great work from Su's. I've been using them for basic alterations and repairs for a few years and have always been happy with the quality work. I started going there initially just to have jeans or pants hemmed, but have also had several shirts/jackets tailored to size. I recently entrusted a pricey Post Overalls coat to be tailored, and couldn't be happier with the results! Awesome service and reasonable prices, so glad to have a place like this in town. read more

I brought in a beautiful designer gown that needed only an inch taken off the back of the high low skirt. They said they couldn't get it done in less than 5 days. When I went to pick up after 5 days, the night before the event, they had shortened the shirt but not it's lining. How stupid is that? The lining was hanging out of the back of the skirt. But, for some unknown reason they had opened up the seam in the back of the skirt and instead of taking the time to finish it properly and professionally they did an overcast stitch which left an ugly seam. I asked them to fix it. They said they needed 5 hours. When I came to get it. The overcast seam was longer and the entire seam puckered. The lining no longer hung out the back but now the whole hem flips up. There are loose threads everywhere. They refused to refund my money for damaging my gown. They managed to screw it up so badly that the entire skirt doesn't hang well and I am now going to the event with no less than a dozen safety pins holding the lining and hem in place on what was once a beautiful gown. read more
