Every person that I asked an opinion from told me NOT to have back surgery. I literally started crying in Dr. Little's office because he made so much sense. He was extremely helpful in answering all my questions and concerns. I was blown away how kind-hearted he was to me. I felt at ease. I felt very excited when I decided to go ahead and have the back surgery (L5-S1). The entire crew at Barrows and Dr Little did a fantastic job preparing me for the surgery. In at 11:00 AM and wheeled out the door in to go home at 4:00 PM the SAME DAY! I literally never took a pain pill or aspirin after the surgery. I had 100% recovery and continue to have full range and comfort in my lower back. He was so rude, did not listen, or offer viable treatment. Even though I provided my brain and spine MRI to show my C6 & C7 discs are smashed & I have complete spinal fluid blockage to my head. CAT scan shows an aneurysm. He advised me to see a nose and throat specialist. Then stated my blood test showed I didn't have a brain leak. A blood test won't detect this! I was at a loss of words & very upset.

However, (and this is a very big deal to me) I want others to know before agreeing to surgery about Barrow's philosophy on pain control. I have had two surgeries with Dr. K. within less than a year. The second one is known to be one of the most painful surgeries one can have, which indeed it was. Yet, I was given a prescription for only a minimum amount of pain meds when discharged from St. Joseph's. Not even close to enough. Here's the issue that I want to caution others about. Barrow *WILL NOT* refill pain medication. In excrutiating pain a week out from surgery, I had to reach out to my primary care doc's office, speak with very kind people (Honor Health) do a virtual appointment with my pcp, speak with another very kind nurse and have my spouse go get the meds from the pharmacy. My pcp was stunned that I was sent home with such a limited supply of pain meds and that they *WILL NOT* refill medication. Had I not had a primary care doc at all or one that did not understand this was an absolutely legitimate request, according to Barrow, I would have had to go to a local ER, pay a $500 copay (in my case) just to walk in the door, then get whatever additional bill for seeing a physician all to get a $10 prescription. Upon calling Barrow to ask about the severe pain I was in, Dr K's resident told me the pain I was experiencing (an 8 on the pain rating scale) was expected and that I could need narcotic pain medication for 3 to 4 weeks. Lack of post-surgical pain support is a deal breaker situation for me and I want to make sure others are aware of this before signing that consent for surgery form.

I understand that they are overwhelmed at times and can be on edge but thats okay as they don't mean it. An elderly woman came in on a mobile scooter that had died and after she checked in up front, the receptionist did not offer to help push her or move her, so she was left sitting there. I then got up and offered to help move her scooter. I assisted her with finding an outlet and plugging it in to get it charging, but something wasn't working right with her charger. My name got called to then go back for my appointment and I walked up to the woman who was the receptionist and asked if she could help the older woman out. The receptionist clearly saw me helping her before, looked at me and said nothing, and got up, very annoyed to then go and try to help the woman. I even told the medical assistant about it, as she asked me if the woman needed help, and she thanked me for letting her know, so it sounded as if they might have issues with this woman frequently. I can't believe someone in a healthcare facility was not willing or happy to help this woman. Terrible service and care!

I used TMJ mouth guards, underwent surgery for discs in my jaw and used botox on the muscles in my head, but these treatments did not relieve my pain or allow me to open my mouth beyond 1/3 of the normal range. He does NOT do the typical alignments we all associate with chiropractors. So, do not let his certification prevent you from experiencing what the Kaufman pain release Method can do for you. It turns out the connected muscles in my shoulders and neck were causing all of the referred pain in my jaw and head. Jason was able to release the muscles and the pain is now gone. It was a process and I am still on the journey. I saw Jason once a week for the first 2 months. Then we moved to once every two weeks, and then to monthly. I am now on an every 5 to 6 week cycle. The results are sustainable. I always knew that I had a stressful Corporate job. I took fairly good care of myself with a moderately active lifestyle and fairly decent eating habits. Who knew that all of the stress accumulating in my shoulders would manifest above my neck? Not only is Jason Kaufman resolving my pain, he is the most caring provider I have ever met in my lifetime. His follow-up is world-class. His empathy for me as a patient still surprises me. For example, he reached out to fellow colleagues to review my medical history and create future treatment plans. He does not need to go this extra mile, but he does because he cares. If you feel like your pain will never go away - any pain in your body (he also treats back pain, leg pain, hip pain, arm pain) - then schedule a session with Jason. I thought my issues were unresolvable, but I was wrong. If you are disheartened, I hope that the Kaufman pain release Method will prove you to be wrong also.

On my first call, I made sure with the receptionist that Dr. Suber was taking new patients. For both calls, I was advised that the two appointment setters were on other calls. The receptionist took my phone number and general information, and said that someone would call me back. We're almost at two weeks, and no call back. Clearly they don't value the business. Good for them if they don't need any new clients, but it certainly doesn't show value for the individual to not even call back...after two calls! At this point, I don't want to go to your office...I already know how your practice treats clients. Side bar: I was referred by a friend who sees him, and said that he is very direct, and matter-of-fact, though his bedside manner may be lacking. I will never know.
