If it wasn't for the service, this restaurant would have gotten 4 stars quite easily. I hesitated for a while but it really brought down the experience for me. The waiters are friendly and attend you quickly, some nuts and breadsticks are given free of charge while you wait. What I did not find pleasant however was to see other tables ariving after us and getting served earlier. The restaurant was quite busy but it wasn't full either. The wait was worth it though: my Crudo e ruccola pizza was great. We got some sort of free little breads with ham and olive oil as well which were quite delicious. If you eat there, I highly recommend you go on the terrace. They do not charge extra for being there (as far as I remember) and you'll get to enjoy a good meal while listening to the ocean waves. I will make sure to update my review if I ever get another chance to eat there again, maybe I was unlucky and the service was just not great that day.

Some history is that the place had a good name, closed down due to a dispute with the authorites, and then reopened. The owner made his money in the early days of Calpe by supplying TVs to the new hotels opening up. Conveniently located right around the corner from our hotel, the place was clean, packed, and had a lively atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated right away. Service was quick and friendly, and the food didn't disappoint. One colleague ordered the bandeja paisa which is a traditional Colombian dish that includes red beans, white rice, ground beef, chicharrón (fried pork belly), a fried egg, ripe plantain, arepa (cornbread), and sliced avocado.-- generous and authentic. Another colleague had the cazuela de mariscos (seafood soup), which was rich and flavorful. I went with the chicken soup, which was fantastic -- hearty, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. We also tried the empanadas (beef and chicken), which were crisp and delicious, paired with a great Colombian hot sauce. Everything came out fresh.
