We got in line and while it took a long time (so if you are in a hurry don't stop during lunchtime!) the food was delicious!! The burger was very fresh and juicy and the fries tasted like they were fries in something that would cook pastries! Very flavorful! So glad we took a chance on this place! Anyways, they have had a cosmetic refresh, painting the building, adding cute signage including some features explaining Bett's long history, and just made the dining rooms a down-home but clean and inviting place now. This goes a long way: I am all for hole-in-the-wall restaurants but you don't want a place to look dirty, either. Bett's no longer does. It looks comfortable and plain-spoken, honest, and home town now. The food has always been good. You get a menu dinner or daily special--things like chicken fried steak or liver and onions or fried mullet--and a choice of three sides. The sides range from mac-n-cheese and collards to normally a couple homemade desserts: the peach cobbler and strawberry cake both are not to be missed. Portions are generous. Their Friday and Saturday all-you-can-eat seafood dinner is also a real deal and good food. Red velvet cake, caramel cake, and lemon cake are hits too but less frequent in their menu appearances. Ford hook limas sometimes show up too, slowly cooked with bacon or ham and are awesome. The painting and general interior and exterior refresh really went a long ways with me to have greater confidence in Bett's. It's now easily a place I rank with some of the region's best country/Southern cooking restaurants.

I frequent the Chiefland area at least once a year for our vacation/visits to family. This is one…read moreof the first restaurants I ever ate at in the area, and I make it a point to visit here at least once every trip. Bill's is a family-owned barbecue restaurant located on the main road in "downtown" Chiefland. It has a private parking lot, and there are multiple entrances/exits both on the main road, and the road that runs behind the building. On this day, we visited for lunch on a Monday in June around noon. There is definitely a regular lunch crowd that eats at this place, so it was lively. However, we had no problem getting a table right away. I have personally never had to wait for a table when dining here. For seating, there are primarily booths with some regular tables. When I visit, I typically get whatever the Daily Special is. These seem to stay the same week-to-week, and since this was a Monday it was the Pork Sandwich with the Salad Bar for $11.25. However, they have a large menu with various lunch specials, salads, sandwiches, and other barbeque items to choose from. There are also family packs and take-out options available. I personally love the Salad Bar here. My favorite lettuce is iceberg, and that is the base they offer. They have most of the typical toppings you would expect to find on a Salad Bar, along with some pasta/broccoli/chicken salad-type offerings. There are several different dressings, along with crackers and chips to pair with your creations. For the Pork Sandwich, you get to choose between a bun or garlic toast. I always opt for the garlic toast, as it seems many other do also. It is not pulled pork, but rather thicker slices piled on the bread. The sandwich does not come with sauce, but on the table there are three different barbeques to choose from - regular, sweet, or hot. As typical, the sandwich was great and the meat was not dry at all. Our server was kind and took great care of us during our lunch. The staff seems to get to know their customers, as it appears they recognize most patrons when they are coming in. I enjoyed this particular visit to Bill's, as I typically do. Especially with the daily and lunch specials, I believe it is a good value for quality food. It has a small town atmosphere that is comforting, making you feel right at home. I would definitely recommend giving Bill's a try if you find yourself in the area, or are looking for a new spot to try.

I would have even bought it but they said they don't do that there which is a complete lie bc he gets one every single time and to top it off my fried pickles were cold and soggy and i ordered a coke zero and got a regular coke. It was 8:00 at night but still it was not good chicken and the prices were high.
