I have been going to Sucheera ( fomerly Suchitra Wright's baby ) since 2010 and in 2011 saw the transformation as she prettied it up for sale to its new current owners. The food was copious and good, even good enough for me to buy a bottle of wine every time.
Recently September 2012 the old chef left and I noticed a change in the sauces for the Chicken Ganga Rie which became much more watery and not as flavoursome. It was so tasteless it must have been out of a packet. The chicken has also changed from being nice, tender, fresh thigh and leg, to flavourless, uniformly- cut frozen chicken which is as dry as hell, just what is served 150 yards away at the Giggling Squid which I have also stopped going to. The starter in the adventurer's lunch also became smaller with only one bit of prawn toast as opposed to two slices but the price has remained the same. I discussed with another diner who was there the same lunch about the fact the food has changed and he concurred; it now is an average dining experience out to make money than provide good food which it used to do. If you like watered down sauces, and dry, petrified chicken, then go here.
I hope they take notice of our comments as I am tempted not to go back again and infact recently went up the road to the Honeymoon where I had some very good house rice and noodles.
I invite comments from the management of Suchitra, and also an invite to go back, and taste the food how it used to be. Restuarants seem to be cutting corners and buying cheap, factory chicken and then dicing it and freezing it these days. We are not stupid, we can cook! read more
