From the initial phone call for an appointment which they booked next day when I told them my situation the office staff, insurance and procedure appointment schedulers were outstanding, courteous and professional. Cathy the Medical Assistant who got my vitals last visit and set me up this visit with a Holter monitor was a pleasure to deal with. As was Alex the echoman. The snippy nasty blonde at the front desk has a major attitude. This is not the first time she has been this way. I have been coming here for years and she is usually obnoxious. I know we all have bad days every now and then. She seems to be having a bad century. read more

An example of everything that's wrong with healthcare. It suffices to say that in this practice, the patient is last on the list - if at all. Their entire approach calls into question their competence and expertise - and causes significant mistrust, concern, and angst. It's clear the entire process is designed to maximize profits. Overbooked Physicians spend no more than 5 minutes per visit and doesn't even perform a basic exam (including listening to heart). Test results aren't discussed or explained. They require some tests to be perfomed on site and will not review results from outside providers (Zwanger); in other cases (CT Angiogram), there's disdain for outside providers other than their network. Concerns are dismissed or ignored, and questions are discouraged and most times not answered. Office staff does the minimum to assist with getting any needs met - except when pressed - and even then it's as if they're doing you a favor. Front desk ranges from sympathetic and helpful (older ones) to ornery and arrogant (younger ones). read more

I've never in my life been more frustrated with an office. I never even write reviews but for months they've been disorganized and confused holding me up with medical clearance for a surgery their doctor suggested! Every time I call no one knows what's going on. I've been scheduled to go to the office (which isn't close to me) to be told oops we made a mistake come in another day. If I could shout from the rooftops DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE to save any of you the frustration & exhaustion, I would. Hopefully whoever needs to see this will see it before wasting their time. Awful care for patients. They overbook patients constantly and use the excuse that they only have 2 doctors. That has been the case for years, and they continue to overbook and make people wait 2 hours plus each time. The receptionists have no ability to do anything but these practices are unethical. They should not be taking so many patients and making them wait hours on end for services they are being paid for. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Life is full of choices, sometimes we make the right choice and sometimes we make the wrong choice...the point is that WE make the choice. Well I was told I didn't have a choice, and trusting doctors the way I do, I believed him...but I did have a choice, he just didn't give it to me. 12/17/2017 - I went to St. Catherine's Hospital in Smithtown due to a slight pain in my chest and scheduled for a Cardiac Catheterization on 12/18/2017. 12/18/2017 - During the Catheterization, Dr. Michael Happes determined that I had multiple blockages in my arteries. At the end of the procedure he informed me that I needed quintuple bypass surgery, telling me that I "CAN'T be stented" because my arteries were too narrow. I was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, admitted and scheduled for the quintuple bypass surgery on Wednesday 12/20/2017, but it wound up being a triple bypass surgery. 1/20/2018 - I had pain in my right leg and I went to St. Catherine's Hospital's ER. I had a sonogram of the leg and was admitted to the hospital. Dr. David Gidseg, Suffolk Heart Group, was my treating physician. Dr. Gidseg informed me that I needed surgery on my right leg due to a blockage/blockages in my arteries. Arrangements were made for me to be transported to Good Samaritan Hospital to have the surgery done. Meanwhile Dr. Morad Awadallah, Vascular Surgeon at St. Catherine's, visited me and just a few moments after he arrived, Dr. Marliena Mirica joined him (I'd never met Dr. Awadallah, but I'd known Dr. Mirica for over 15 years so I trusted her and respected her opinion). Dr. Awadallah told me that if I have the surgery on my right leg, that I could literally die, the reason being that it was just 1 month since the open heart surgery and I wasn't finished healing and my body wouldn't be able to handle the leg surgery. He told me that the problem with my leg has been going on for years, that it didn't just happen and it wasn't an emergency. Dr. Mirica even went so far as to draw me a picture of what "collaterals" are and how they work and that I already have them, that they've been there for years. I asked Dr. Mirica what she thought of all that Dr. Awadallah told me and she said she "agrees with him 100%". I cancelled the transport to Good Samaritan and the leg surgery. 2/24/2018 - I hadn't been feeling well for about 11 days and finally told my husband, so he took me to St. Catherine's ER. I was admitted and scheduled for another Cardiac Catheterization by Dr. Happes. He determined that all 3 bypasses failed (1 was totally gone, 1 was "hanging on like a string" and 1 was "pinched"). So NOW I was scheduled to have stents put in, being transported yet again to Good Samaritan Hospital because I was a "risky" case and Dr. Happes felt that with Good Samaritan's doctors and equipment it would be better to do it there than St. Catherine's in case something happened during the procedure, and they NOW have "smaller stents" for my "narrow arteries". I'm in the Cath Lab at Good Samaritan waiting to be taken in for the procedure, my husband is with me. Dr. Happes and Dr. Rovensky came into the little cubicle to talk to me before the procedure. I asked Dr. Happes why I COULDN'T be stented 2 months ago, but I can now and his response was "I never said that" and both my husband and I looked him straight in the eye and said "oh yes you did, you said CAN'T" - well neither Dr. Happes nor Dr. Rovensky could say another word, they just looked away. I went from "can't be stented" to having 7 stents put in me. Dr. Stephen Littman paid me a visit and I questioned him about why Dr. Gidseg was going to send me to Good Samaritan for the right leg surgery knowing it would be dangerous to me and he said that Dr. Gidseg was "under pressure from others" to send me to Good Samaritan to have the surgery. Also, after having the 7 stents put in me, while still on the table, Dr. Happes admitted that they knew that it would be dangerous for me to have the right leg surgery, but being under pressure they were going to do it anyway. I said to him "my life is worth more than the God Almighty dollar." Dr. Happes was able to save 1 of the 3 bypasses, the one that was "pinched", he un-pinched it. 3/24/2018 - Well more chest pain, so back to St. Catherine's ER, back to being transported to Good Samaritan for an 8th stent (have I mentioned that I "CAN'T" be stented). I had the 8th stent put in and while still on the table, Dr. Happes told me "this is it, there is nothing I can do for you after this, I've done all I can." So if I have any more chest pains, should I just stay and home and wait to die? This is where I made the right choice-I found a new Cardiologist affiliated with a different hospital! read more

At young age having to see a Cardiologist is nerve wrecking . This office was great , all paperwork was done prior right on my phone . Wait time in office was 5 minutes and staff was very friendly . I met Dr. ABate , very nice and great bed side manor . He put me at ease and made sure I walked out with my head up high . read more

Dr. D'Agate is wonderful! He takes the time to listen with a warm and caring heart. He does everything to make you feel comfortable and safe. Any fears and concerns are answered and addressed. He is very upbeat, cheerful and never makes you feel like you're just another patient... The staff is exceptional. Every single person that I've been in contact with has been warm and genuinely caring. They seem to enjoy being there which make you feel more comfortable... Nice office. Doctors have excellent credentials. Unfortunately, they order a battery of tests when you are asymptomatic and seem to be too important to call you to discuss your test results. Makes you question their motives and priorities. The receptionists/administrative staff are rude and incredibly unprofessional. SHG's Mission Statement is rubbish. Never again! Pass. read more

I would think twice before coming here to the suffolk heart group in smithtown. My overall experience has been not to trust them. They seem to make normal functions of the heart into abnormal functions. They don't communicate and try to intimidate you. Be aware dont come here . read more

After having symptoms of shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, my husband was recommended by his primary Dr. (Dr. James A. Higgins) to be seen by Suffolk Heart Group, LLP. My husband was seen by Dr. Lippman, Dr. Happes and Dr. Gidseg who stated his heart was "1/3 dead, left bottom ventricle." My husband was in the hospital for an enitre day, doing procedures by his group and then was sent home by Dr. Gidseg stating my husband should come back to the hospital on Monday for another procedure, the hospital would call with details . Dr. felt my husband didn't need to be in the hospital the entire weekend, after telling my husband he had a massive heart attack years ago, but could not tell him when, sending him home with only a Coreg prescription. Never received any further precautions. Called the hospital on Monday afternoon, after not hearing from anyone, who knew nothing of the procedure. Never received a call for the procedure despite calling/leaving messages at Suffolk Heart Group, LLP in Bayshore as well as the hospital multiple times; never heard from any of the doctors. Attempted, but could not retrieve my medical records from their office, no one ever called us back!!! Its been over 2 weeks! This is how you treat a patient who has severe heart issues? But they sent me a $900 Bill! Disgusting. read more

Upon arrival, the waiting room was completely packed, which made it difficult to socially distance. Though I didn't have much trouble signing in, the woman behind the desk was awfully terse and combative with others, presenting with a condescending attitude. I didn't need to wait long. I was shuffled into an exam room and within minutes, the doctor was in. Then, within minutes, she was out. My whole exam was 5 minutes, if that. I didn't feel as though she took the time to listen to my concerns. At all. I had read this in several reviews and should have listened. I spent more time at the check out desk, which was a process in an of itself. My entire time in the office from check in to out was less than 30 minutes, and the majority of that time was spent at the check out desk. Overall, my appointment was rushed and the staff was not the friendliest. I would not recommend this place to others. read more
