I wouldn't recommend this photography business to anyone. For starters, the makeup artist seemed extremely inexperienced. I ended up stopping her partway through my makeup for both beauty reasons and hygienic reasons- she seemed generally unknowledgeable: didn't use eyeshadow primer or base, went straight from liquid foundation to powder contour. Used liquid eyeliner on my eyes without sanitizing it. I didn't feel comfortable having my makeup done by her. After I finished my makeup myself, I was pulled in the bathroom where they told me they can't shoot with me because of my job. I'm an exotic dancer. I've used many services from many providers and I've never been discriminated against because of the way I pay my bills. They went so far as to imply that I'm going to be using the photos to post on prostitution websites. After I told them I wasn't going to use them on any escorting websites and that I just wanted some cute pictures of myself taken, they went on to tell me how they like to keep their image "classy" and "tasteful" implying that just because of the way I make my money that I cannot have class. I was taken aback at this point, telling them that I didn't even want to do implied nudity and nothing even sexual, just cute pictures of me taken, even more clothes than the women advertised on their page were wearing. They kept going on to imply that being associated with sex workers and strippers is going to taint their "classy" image. After being denied a service I was paying for, I asked for my security deposit back for the shoot and they denied that saying it was in their website as well letting me know "they have a team of lawyers to deal with this stuff." I've never felt more humiliated and discriminated against, nor more judged and disrespected. Curious to see exactly *what* they put on their site, I not only found them denying services to sex workers but also lesbians and men. Not photographing someone based on their sexual preferences because you think they will create a hostile work environment is incredibly unprofessional and I'm surprised they have not been confronted about this sooner. Not working with all men because they view them as hostile is extremely sexist. I noticed they've edited their site since, however I know that they have their same values and views on people so I will not be recommending their services to anyone who supports the LGBT community, men, and sex workers. Because of this I've attached screen shots from before they edited their site so people are aware of their true colors and views. Please keep in mind the values of the companies you support and there are MANY more talented and professional photographers in the twin cities that will be happy to capture your beauty. read more

Next came the outfit selection. They were so helpful and together we picked out the perfect outfits for me! The shoot was phenominal! They helped me postion just right and make just the right face. I was super excited after I left and I had a great time!!! I felt so beautiful and I had not even seen the pictures yet. And then the online photos came! I spent the entire afternoon looking at my photos! I have always seen myself as Cute not Sexy until now. I have never looked so good. I was absolutely terrified the day of my shoot. I have been following Sugar and Spice for 10 years and not only did I want to give this little surprise to my husband for Christmas, but it was also a bucket list item. I kept waiting and waiting because I thought I needed to have "the perfect body" to do this. The minute I arrived and was greeted by Amber and the terrified feelings started to fade. I settled into hair and make up and loved that Shay really took the time to listen to how I wore my hair and make up and still made me look like me. I gave her the freedom to pick my outfits for me and I am so glad she did. She pushed me to think outside of the box and really tapped into how I could feel sexy and have fun. The first time I had to take off my robe for our first look... I was so scared. Nothing fit right, it didn't look right in the mirror, all I saw were my flaws (the baby belly that never went away, the cellulite on my butt) and I could feel myself getting nervous all over again. We were a few shots into it and I kept getting compliments from Shay and Katya. I tried to relax and then Katya called me over and showed me a few of the shots she took. The fear was gone. I couldn't believe that was me. I didn't see the flaws in any of the angles in the pictures she took. I started to cry and then realized I was ruining Shay's work. By the end of the shoot, I was so relaxed I didn't even know what a robe was and was walking around in 5 inch heels and butt hanging out.... I felt so confident. My shoot was on a Friday and my proofs arrived on Monday.. YES, literally 2 days later. And they were beautiful and after your photoshop magic they will look even better. These women are AH-MA-ZING! Seriously amazing. I booked this session to memorialize my breasts for my husband before I have a major breast reduction next month. I walked in, super nervous and sure that nothing they had would fit my plus size body, especially with my enormous beasts or look good on me. In no time at all, they had me feeling much more relaxed and were talking me up left & right and this was just the beginning. They did my hair & make up and I felt gorgeous! They helped me decide which rooms I would like best and what kind of outfits would work for me. They were so wonderful through it all and did everything they could to make me feel comfortable & relaxed. By the time I walked out of there, I felt like a damn vixen. They showed me some photos throughout which helped immensely with my confidence. I look at these photos and cannot believe that's me! I look like a professional plus size model! I spent three years going back and forth about whether or not I should have a photo shoot done at Sugar and Spice Photography, all the while saving up for it in case I decided to do it. Well, I did and I wish I had done it sooner! I was so completely nervous heading into my shoot but Lyndsay and Katya were so nice and made me feel so much at ease that within 10 minutes of actually shooting I started to really have fun and just enjoy the experience. My husband and I are in a classic car club so we spend a lot of time around women who dress in 1950's pin-up fashion and I've always wondered what it would be like to do that and if I could pull it off. With the help of Sugar and Spice I definitely feel that I did and my husband agrees completely. He loves all the photos and couldn't believe it when he opened up the photo that I had surprised him with for his birthday. It was a fantastic present for the both of us. These girls are so amazing!!! About a year and a half ago I decided to lose some weight, I mean a lot of weight! I was always the type of person to be very critical of myself in pictures, and being heavy didn't make it any easier. When I decided to lose weight I set a goal, my goal was to be comfortable enough with myself to do a sugar and spice session. I had never thought of myself as sexy, but from the minute I arrived they made me feel like a bombshell! After five minutes I literally forgot that I was half naked. I felt completely comfortable the whole time. I couldn't wait to get my proofs, and I didn't have to wait long. I got an email a week after I was there with all of my proofs. They did such a great job shooting that I couldn't decide which ones I like the best. Before I knew it I had filled my cart up with pictures that I wanted to order. I am obsessed with my pictures my husband had no idea that I was going to do the photo shoot. It was going to be a surprise gift. I recently heard the phrase 'Celebrity Treatment' and had the immediate thought that my session must have been the closest thing I will ever have to celeb treatment. Originally I bough3t the groupon, but emailed and got information on how to upgrade... I am so HAPPY I did. My hair and make-up was stunning and I was wishing Lyndsay was telling me step by step what she did. I felt so beautiful. The selection of what to wear was great and I loved how they gave me their input and that's how I made my decision. I had a really nice time and it was exactly what I needed. I just had my daughter a year ago and I needed something to make me look as beautiful as I feel. This surpassed my expectations. I am having the hardest time trying to pick the photos I want. I want to give a huge shout out to Katya and Lyndsay (and Katrina even though she wasn't 'assigned' to my shoot) for the amazing compliments and day. This was the perfect birthday present to myself. Katina and Lyndsay were amazing! I was super nervous and feeling self-conscious at the start but they wiped that all away! The pampering beforehand was so fun! They gave me advice and recommendations based on what I had wanted. I had some saved pictures of poses that I liked and they made sure to accommodate all of them. They made me feel sexy and confident! They made it personable too, asking about who I was doing this for and why. When they learned about the band that brought my boyfriend and I together (using a band tshirt for an outfit even) they put the band on Pandora for my entire session. That meant so much and I felt like a rockstar! I had so much fun and the best part of it was, that they put you in the poses otherwise I would have had no idea what to do! And they were honest; if something wasn't working, they would adjust to make it work. It had to be "crisp!" :) I would definitely come here again! I felt like a bombshell during my shoot. When I showed up to the studio I was a little nervous, but so excited! The girls chatted with me while I got my hair and makeup done and I felt so comfortable with them! It was so hard to choose which sets I wanted because they are ALL SO GORGEOUS! I was so glad Katya helped narrow down my wardrobe choices, because I liked SO MANY THINGS! When an outfit did not fit me how I wanted or just wasn't working, Katina came back and helped me choose outfits perfect for the set I had picked! I felt so involved in picking out outfits and was so excited about using my own veil, wedding shoes, and pearls from my fiancé!t was amazing to see how beautiful my body looked in UNTOUCHED photos. We are so hard on ourselves, it just takes someone making you feel beautiful and SHOWING you how beautiful you are to completely change how you feel about yourself. I have a really hard time with loving myself, but this whole shoot gave me IMMENSE Self Love and I cannot wait to give my fiancé a book that will rock his world! I was pretty nervous going to the studio and not knowing what to expect. When I got there, I was greeted by friendly, smiling faces. Katya and Katina were instantly calming. They were easy to converse and laugh with. My nerves subsided until it was time for my first look. I became nervous again and self conscious as I have never been comfortable with my body. This feeling did not last long at all. Katya and Katina quickly made me feel at ease during the shoot. They were both very encouraging and gave simple clear directions. They worked quickly and efficiently. I soon started to enjoy myself and have fun. I have not seen my portfolio yet as I just had my shoot done last week, but I saw a few of the shots while I was there and I was very happy with them. I absolutely loved this experience. I have always wanted to do a photo shoot like this, but never had the courage. I found Sugar & Spice online and looked into it. And from the initial contact with them, I have absolutely zero complaints. They were friendly, courteous, very helpful, and quick to respond with any questions I had (which were plenty). Once it was time for my shoot, I came in nervous and within a half hour, I felt so comfortable, I was even brave enough to do a "in the sheets" pose in practically nothing (which is a pretty big deal for me as I'm pretty modest)!! They listened to my wants/needs to ensure my true character was captured, they were patient with guiding me through the poses, and they were not only extremely talented, but an absolute blast!! I walked out of there filled with confidence and couldn't wait to go back and do it again! I just received the proofs yesterday and I was in love! Before I even committed to the shoot I spoke with Kennedy and learned all about the different types of packages and what to expect. After I booked the session I received information about how to prepare for the shoot in the week and days leading up to it which I found extremely helpful. There were so many great tips I wouldn't have thought of on my own. When I arrived the day of my shoot the ladies made me feel so comfortable. They were very encouraging and so personable. I felt like I was spending the afternoon with my close friends. They also did an amazing job on my make-up and hair. I LOVED my look. I had a great experience at S&S Photography, and totally recommend it! It was a bit of an investment, but an investment in myself that made me feel empowered, sexy, and confident. The team did an amazing job of making me look & feel like a million bucks which really showed through in the pictures! There are cheaper options out there but you really do get the all star treatment for the money at S&S -- the hair extensions & makeup was an awesome component and took the pictures to another level. This was a genuine Cinderella experience--I came in the door as a 53-year-old in bad need of a vacation, and 90 minutes later they had transformed me into some sort of Vintage Vixen. Seriously--the stylists are miracle workers and make sure that your hair is fantastic, your make-up fits the mood you want to create, and that your outfit will pop on your body and on the set you choose. During the shoot, your team attends to every detail and makes you feel completely at ease. I usually look like a startled turkey in pictures, but these turned out gorgeous. Katya and Viktoria made me feel relaxed and confident. We had a unique shoot because I came with a group of 8 women who spent the whole day hanging out during each others' shoots. What I found most amazing is how different each of our proofs are--the creative team was able to capture each of our unique personalities. Katya and Sydney were amazing to work with. I do not wear makeup, or style my hair... I was turned into a dang bombshell! The makeup seemed a little heavy but was gorgeous in the photos! Leave the makeup to the pro aka Sydney! I'm so glad Katya took the reins in picking all my outfits, this is what I was most worried about! These girls know their inventory like the back of their hands! I did bring a few props, we talked about what was envisioned for the shoot (looks) and created masterpieces from there. I felt a little shy at first, but the girls make it very easy to get into a comfortable zone. I've never felt as confident as I did with these strangers that made me feel like one of the gals I received my profile photos much quicker than expected! What an added bonus! his was my second visit to the studio, and I pretty much knew what to expect, but this time was different. The first time was kinda like "ok, I will try this and see what happens", loved it so much. This time, I needed some me time. And was so excited to know that I would still leave there looking beautiful!! Perfect time for a surprise date night! The last few months have been very rough, my son was battling some health issues and was in the hospital for over a month. And just before that I had a miscarriage and lost our baby. I was very depressed and didn't know how to come out of the funk I was in. I wanted to feel pretty again. I wanted my husband to look at me like "wow, that my wife"... And he sure did. I cant wait till next year for the third visit!!! Plus the women here!!!! Are all so amazing! Some of the most beautiful in and out women I have ever met! And being a bigger woman, they still make you feel just as beautiful as a size 6 or 16!!! read more

I did an Allure shoot to get photos take for a wedding gift for my fiance to give to him on the morning of our wedding! I was super nervous in the days leading up to the shoot, but as soon as I arrived, I felt at ease! Lyndsay and PJ were great! I had so much fun getting my hair and makeup done and picking out outfits! The girls made me feel beautiful! I am generally pretty hard on myself when it comes to my appearance, so I was pretty nervous waiting to get my proofs back. But now that I have them, I couldn't be more happy with the results! Even though the proofs are "untouched" in terms of most editing, I am still so beyond thrilled with them! I cannot wait to see what they look like after the final touches have been done!
