It was night and day when we started at Learning Tree. The teachers are kind and attentive and keep parents informed. He loved his little Guppy classroom. And when we was older and moved to the Starfish Room, they potty trained him in no time at all. Seriously--we barely had to do anything! He came home trained! When my son got a little older and needed some more assistance with learning, all of the staff has been very helpful, patient and understanding with his accommodations. Now he is in the preschool class at LT, and absolutely ADORES his classroom, his teacher and the activities. Despite the pandemic and the challenges everyone, including LT, has had to endure, he has absolutely thrived. I appreciate LT being so safety and health-conscious during this time. My son has also learned the alphabet, some reading and writing and math. He's seriously a step ahead in all of that and it makes me feel confident that when he starts Kindergarten this year it will be an easy transition. All due to the amazing teacher he had!

From infants to toddlers he was genuinely known and loved at every stage by not only his teachers but the whole staff. We were amazed at what he learned and the variety of foods he ate and loved the photos and updates we received each day through the app. The center director, Christina, was always available for questions or concerns we had and you could feel that his teachers enjoyed spending time with the kids. An out of state move is the only reason we left and they threw a little going away party in his classroom and left us with the sweetest book of artwork and even sweeter memories. We are so glad we chose this Kindercare to help shape our sons first couple years and will forever be grateful for the care and love the entire staff provided during his time there.

(one of them visible jealous that the kids prefer me over her) They even complaining about babies crying all day (they are freaking babies of course they are going to cry) Most of the worker in there would give you attitude and when you start to complain about that attitude the HR will through you in the garbage principally if the complain is against one of her Lead Teacher. The staff is fabulous, and I so appreciate that they provide healthy food. They are very cautious of her allergies (nuts, peanuts, eggs) and I've never worried about her safety. We chose to take our four-year-old son to SunGarden after relocating. It's a lovely small community…read moreof staff, teachers and parents, but unfortunately it didn't turn out to be what we thought it would be when we enrolled. Keep in mind, we have high expectations since we're talking about our children. We're within walking distance and we prefer Montessori methods, and SunGarden is AMI vs AMS (please research the difference if you're looking into Montessori schools)... so SunGarden seemed like a great choice. Everyone is warm and welcoming, and our son grew leaps and bounds academically (which is great if you're looking to raise an Einstein), but I was disheartened by a few things listed below: 1) Time outside: We were told when enrolling our son would be able to work outside when he wanted to (with provided lanyards) and they would often be outside anyway. However, he would come home and say he was not allowed to run outside (a four-year-old not be able to run?!). And although the outside area is beautifully cared for, it's extremely small for how large the community of children is, which is why they were worried about safety if the children ran into each other or any of the garden equipment. At this age, we feel kids need to run off their energy, especially after doing serious academic "work" in a classroom all day - see below. So the outside area and the rules that go with it ended up being a downfall and we were a bit displeased. 2) Turnover: We were only at SunGarden for one year and it was the director's first year in this position, as well as our teacher's first year (her name was Amy - but she was the best part about the school experience for our son). Their "outside guide" left the school mid-year making it even more difficult to allow children outside to do their work (something we were told would happen daily, but ended up not happening much at all). 3) The environment: I have to commend the school on its materials - it complies with AMI rules and materials have to be up to a certain standard, and they are beautiful Montessori materials, kept clean and orderly. However, as much as I love a calm, organized, quite environment for learning, the rooms were unusually quite (these are children ranging from 2.5-6 years). There should be noise and laughter and giggles. Anyone who needed to "move" - which was more often than not - was told to walk briskly along a circular line tape placed on the floor. It almost felt like caged animals when I observed this. 4) Academics: AMI Montessori schools want your children to thrive academically. I want my child to thrive in this area as well but he was still 4... not heading to college yet... and the reports I would receive from my teachers were how long my child would sit, focus and work on math or other subjects. And although he learned quite a bit for a four-year-old, I felt bad the days he didn't want to enter the classroom, crying and sitting outside, because I knew in my heart it was because he was entering what he felt, was a place he couldn't essentially just "be a kid." 5) Play & Art: In our son's previous years at another Montessori school (which we all loved but was AMS), he would come home exhausted, often-times dirty from playing outside (this is a good thing, parents...), or covered in paint and/or in a change of clothes after getting wet on hot days. Unfortunately, he always returned home from SunGarden as well groomed as he had been when he went in the classroom door that morning, so it seemed that very little art exploration, imagination, creativity or getting dirty was encouraged (at least that we saw). Again, it felt exceedingly academic for little minds. I do know they have some make-believe areas (such as a small doll house), sing songs (he came home reciting the same 50 states song I too memorized in 2nd grade), and read stories, but the teachers are there mainly to observe the children do their focused work quietly. 5) Flexibility: I want to be fair, the director did allow our family some flexibility, but again, complying with AMI methods, SunGarden requires your children to attend five days a week. So if you're looking for part-time care (because we wanted our child to be able to move and explore non-academic areas on those days off), then unless they've changed their rules, you don't have that option. Overall, again, everyone was warm and kind and I do know they care about the children. Unfortunately, I left with the impression they care even more so about complying with their AMI Montessori beliefs and methods than what the children inherently desire and need to be a kid at heart. It is a great school for those looking to ensure their children simply grow in academics and social responsibility. Again, these are the areas in which we saw our child grow the most with his time there and we are grateful for this.

New to the area, we wanted a local Montessori provider where we could feel connected to the community. From the first day we dropped in (literally) to tour the school, the director, guides, and staff made us feel welcome. Since then, we've continued to have great experiences with the school, the parents, and the community. We love living in West Linn and often comment that SunGarden was the best decision we've made here. Specific to the school, we love the building and yard, the amount of outdoor time the kids get (rain or shine, they go out!), the pictures we get from the guides, and the ongoing parent/guide conferences. There are opportunities to connect with the guides, have drinks and coffee with other parents, learn about the curriculum, and interact with the whole community (annual events). SunGarden is the right place if you're looking to be a part of a Montessori community where your children will be cared for and given individual attention.

I have returned to working for ChildRoots for the last two years. Since my return, I have had a…read morewonderful experience. I started back again as a Teacher then moved into the role of Specialist. Management has the best interests of the teachers in mind and strives to improve working experience daily. The main reason I have decided to work with ChildRoots is a) the management and b) the philosophy. I truly believe that children learn best through hands-on experience and exploration of their own interests. Many of the staff are some of the best people I have ever worked with (shout out to the amazing, dedicated team). I will shortly be leaving to continue my education, but I would stay if I could continue working with these amazing teachers and admin. As they say, "You don't quit a place. You quit your boss," and that's why I have returned and have dedicated myself to continue working with ChildRoots until I return to school.

My child attended My Bundle of Joy (Concordia) for less than a year and very disappointed with the…read moreowner Monet and her lack of management. We took our son out due to questionable providers, high turnaround in providers, last minute non-COVID closures and a very unlikeable owner. On our first day, I handed my 3-month old to a provider who was wearing 2 inch fake nails and I was mortified and thought it was a joke. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be "that parent" but absolutely did not instill any confidence from day one. In the summer of 2021, the house shut down for one day because it was not licensed with the State of Oregon. Day care shut for a day with very late notice and there was no compensation for that one day of missed daycare due to their inability to maintain a legal license. Shortly after, a provider showed up drunk and was allowed to work (many differing stories but nonetheless worrisome). Monet was at the house next morning for drop-off trying to do damage control and was incredibly insincere and seemed to almost be laughing the situation off. Monet lacked communication skills and was unable to recognize and articulate the seriousness of the alleged incident. In December 2021, they received an Oregon Department of Education violation regarding poor crib safety management. Upon inspection, the State worker immediately removed the child from the crib and the State notified parents immediately. There was a laundry list of additional incidents that occurred during our short time. A child got locked in the bathroom in which the fire department was called, a child got outside and was left unattended with no one knowing, a child's food allergy was overlooked, and other questionable small incidents. When these concerns were brought to Monet's attention, she brushed them off and did not let us break our contract and dismissed them. Moreover, we told her we only stayed because of one of the house managers we liked (who recently abruptly left). She went on the defense and told me "shame on me" for not acknowledging the other providers. That is not how you respond to a concerned client let alone parent. Be careful of the 60-day cancellation clause because a lot happened in that time and any third party would have agreed that it would have been reasonable to break the contract due to the concerning events. We tried to give the benefit of doubt as these incidents occurred throughout the year but after talking to other parents, some left immediately while we tried to grapple with finding new care, which unfortunately took us a lot longer than expected. The providers were nice and my son got his basic needs met but after the multiple closures due to COVID (as expected), ongoing unscheduled closures and overall lack of organization. There was a clear environment of the providers being overworked, stressed and underpaid. I talked to other parents who were concerned that some of the caretakers had been in tears at drop-off/pick up due to the overwhelming stresses of management and daily duties. Regarding the house manager that left this week, Monet has not informed parents and the providers seem nervous and timid to discuss. There was no communication and when a house manager leaves, it should be immediately known since they are the main and first contact for parents. I assumed the house manager was on vacation but it wasn't until the end of the week that I found out (from the house providers) and still have not heard from Monet about the management change. Tomorrow is our last day there and we are very relieved because the house seems to be in shambles. Before registering, I read the very limited reviews and felt uneasy but didn't want that to deter us from signing up. In talking with other parents who attended MBOJ (3 at Concordia and 1 at Piedmont), none were impressed with the actual facility and agreeably turned off by the owner. We later discovered that My Bundle of Joy used to operate under a previous name "Cloud Nine, Inc." (I verified it on the Oregon Secretary of State business search and still active). We had heard from parents that they changed their legal name due to multiple negative reviews they had received under the previous name. A major red flag that made our choice to leave even more secure. I understand day care is neither accessible or affordable. I wish our experience would have been more pleasant. When you are paying the same rate as a reputable school like Montessori or some other high-end infant programs, My Bundle of Joy simply does not compare nor come close. My intention is not to discourage parents but it's only fair to share our experience in hopes that future parents err on the side of caution with this establishment.

Our son went to MBOJ from 4 month - 18 months and we absolutely loved it. The only reason we pulled…read morehim out was because we are moving out of state, otherwise we would have kept him in as long as possible! The staff was wonderful and taught him a ton of new things. He came home having eaten foods we could never get him to try, saying new words, and even learned sign language. We never once thought twice about dropping him off in their care. I would highly recommend MBOJ for anyone looking for childcare!
