We went to Sultan's Kebab for the first time today. I got the chicken kebab. The food arrived after about 10 minutes and the portions were good sized. Initially, I assumed Persian food due to the name, and I was disappointed when I was told it was Turkish; however, I was pleasantly surprised as the Kabob, rice, and salad were delicious. The meat was done correctly, not soft, not hard, with the right favoring and somag. The salad had lemon juice and olive oil with somag. The hummus was a little under-flavored compared to what I'm used to, but I still ate it all. The atmosphere was relaxing and nicely decorated. I wanted to take a picture, but I couldn't stop eating, so sadly, nothing was left besides an empty plate. I will be returning with my family to explore the menu; maybe then I can take pictures first before starting to eat. I highly recommend this location to everyone. read more

Came here for the first time today. I ordered a chicken kabob salad to go. Got it home and what a mess! They not only dressed the salad (should have been on the side) but it was so over dressed that it was inedible. What a waste of money. I threw it in the garbage. I really don't know what these guys are thinking, it seemed like people that had no clue about cooking suddenly scrounged up funds and decided to open up a restaurant. There are zero culinary skills displayed here The kabobs were tiny. The beef tasted like rubber and the chicken tasted like tofu. The rice was sticky Asian rice. I love Chinese rice don't get me wrong but This is supposed to be a middle eastern restaurant why is there sticky Chinese jasmine rice? The dolmas were bland and average I have no disputes there. Was the food nasty? No, it was clean and fine but the portions were tiny and just not tasteful at all. The people were nice too. If you want decent service with tiny portions of bland food then this is your spot. I don't mind going back but this is no more than a 2 star place read more

The Danville location is the best of the Sultan's Kebab restaurants. This owner is clearly the better brother and the most handsome one. Seriously though, the owner is among the most professional and genuinely delightful businessmen one will ever meet. I just returned from a month in Turkey. We went from Istanbul to Izmir. The Sultans Kebab was authentic and delicious. I felt as if I were in Turkey again. Please try the Danville Sultans Kebab and you will not be disappointed. They also have delicious Turkish delights- sweets and Middle Eastern pastries . Restaurant is clean and online order + pickup was fairly easy. The former restaurant in that location, Bombay, was always pretty dirty/unclean-seeming...so Sultan's Kebab is a step up in that department. Unfortunately the food I ordered was bland and flavorless...so flavorless I was honestly worried I had COVID, so I ate something different only to discover my senses of smell and taste are still in tact. I was excited to try a new Mediterranean restaurant in the area as I absolutely love this type of food. But much to my dismay, both their Chicken Shawarma and Hummus lack much flavor. It almost seems Americanized to some degree -- to not be too offensive or strong. If there was any recommendation I had, it'd be to be more aggressive with the garlic and spices. Cute little location in Danville. I ordered the #12, ground chicken plate for $12.99 which came with a good portion of rice, salad, vegetables, ground chicken, hummus, and a pita cut into two halves. The ground chicken was flavorful and juicy. You truly get what you pay for. The kunefe was sweet and amazing, the only problem was that it was hard to cut. The tea was minty, and served with sugar cubes on the side. The ambiance reminds me of the Middle East, the paintings and the music go well with the restaurant. We made a reservation. Food quality: Food quality is consistent, I LOVE their Turkish white rice, lots of flavors. Beef Kofte is very similar to a beef patty. Not too much flavor. Next time, I won't reorder again. All other kabobs, chicken shawarma are super delicious. Their Turkies lava (flatbread) serves warm with Tahini. Salmon Shish is meh, not too much flavor. Services: It is a bit confusing. In the normal, setting, guests need to line up, order their food from the food counter, pay and find a place to sit down. Next to our table, it was around 15 ppl, they have a lady took their order. So, I went to the counter and asked if each of us need to self-order or there will be wait staff to take our order. They said it is up to you! This really confuses! Finally, the attendant said ok, ok will send somebody to take order on your table. Worst service ever. The lady at the counter is rude and tip-oriented ( automatic tip, not the earned tip). She is monotone. However, her eyes tell the story. She needs to visit the ladies next door at Medleno Cafe and learn the genuineness and care for her client. She does not give a damn if you are a loyal client and makes you feel like she doesn't need your business, which might be why the restaurant is always empty. I've never had Mediterranean food before this and honestly this was such a great introduction into Mediterranean cuisine. My go-to dish is the combo shawarma - the meat is so perfectly sliced and the oil they use to cook their rice is so so good. I'm glad it's a chain restaurant so I can find this in other parts of the Bay Area too! I always leave this place way too full and with leftover meat to take home. Servings are generous. read more

Being from the UK, I love my Turkish food. I'd say that a kebab and fries is a late night meal of choice for all partygoers in London. I realize that California isn't really known for its Turkish food (more Persian) but I was quite disappointed. I thought that the lamb and chicken shawarma was a bit dry. The fries (while obviously not a Turkish dish) were fried perfectly. They were crispy and salty. But I thought they were ruined by the garlic which was intense to say the least. Wow. It literally burnt my tongue every time I touched them. I regularly eat raw garlic with Korean meals and I thought this was far too much garlic. We had the dolma which were pretty good. We really liked the beyti kebab. They were like little mini pizza bites. Paired with the refreshing taste of the yogurt, it was a really nice surprise. Food: We tried the shawarma combination platters: chicken and lanb and 2 shawarma wraps, one chicken and one lamb. For an appetizer we took the hummus side. Another side of French fries. The portions were good, meats looked good. Problem was major lack of flavor. Everything tasted like hospital food. Lack of spices, salt, it was a big dissappontment. Like the food was prepared for diners with high blood pressure and/ or chronic heartburn. Bathroom could be cleaner, otherwise premises/ venue were nice and functional. I've had excellent kebabs at Danville International Market a couple of doors down, so I was curious how Sultan's stacks up for a takeout dinner. The restaurant has plenty of seating and lots of menus with photos in display. They have a pretty good variety of kebabs, shawarmas, salads, and even a few seafood items along with dessert. Overall, I thing there are some bright spots here, so 3.5 stars rounding up to 4. Chicken Kebabs were well-seasoned, soft and juicy. The rice looked plain but was actually slightly sticky and well-seasoned. Different than the drier, herb-scented basmati. We liked it! The hummus was good too. 4.5 stars. **COVID DoorDash Review** This place went from great to what the hell are you serious? So this review is against the restaurant and doordash. Our dasher picked up our food, then brought it back? WTH, I don't know what happen with my food right? Especially with this whole COVID thing! Second dasher picked up our food, our food now has sat for 30 minutes and has been through multiple custody chains! How could a restaurant let someone double Handel food, it opens you up to so many liabilities? Doordash cancelled the order and re-ordered. Then I received a extremely rude phone call from the restaurant, saying that no one will deliver my food! And continued to argue with me that they do not deliver to me......clearly from my review below they do! So now what was suppose to be a happy support local restaurants night, turned to a hangery wondering if my food will ever show up. Finally an hour and 45 minutes my food showed up. The food was still good, the chicken was dryer than last time. From the customer service side of things I would like to give 1 star. But in these times I understand things aren't how they once were. Tried Sultan's Kebab today for first time. I was in the mood for delicious Middle Eastern food, and Sultan's Kebab definitely delivered DELICIOUSNESS!! Their falafal wraps were some of the best falafel I have had in a long time. It was fresh and they are so generous , filled with amazing tasting eggplant and falafal and tzatziki sauce all wrapped up. Their dolmas were exceptional.
