Heard about the amazing smoked meat here and tried it for the first time , was not disappointed ! When I first entered I was greeted by the cashier and she explained the menu to me and I think she could tell it was my first time there. I tried their smoked meat poutine as other reviews here recommended it, and it was better than expected. You could taste the Smokey-ness in the meat and the gravy was the perfect amount, only issue I had with it is that my fries were stale and soggy. The fries were like the texture of mashed potatoes , which I don't blame since there was a lot of sauce on it. I would have preferred the smoked meat not be so chopped up , it looked like it went through a shredder , would have liked the meaty texture. Respect to the owner for paying his dues in Montreal and bringing that authentic Montreal flavour to the 6ix. I've been to Montreal quite a bit and sumilicious definitely measures up with beautiful delicate brisket that is packed with flavour. Traditional rye bread and pickle to complete the ensemble. Food here is what you would expect from a smoked meat shop but it is extremely extremely overpriced. I went here once and that will probably be the only time as it cost me over $20 to have a sandwich pickle and can of pop. It nice to splurge here and there or just to try the place out but the prices are not going to keep people coming back regularly. I think one other person came in the 45 mins I was there eating with a friend in the late afternoon. I like smoked meat but at the end of the day it's a sloppy sandwich that has to compete with a ton of excellent food in this city. Toronto finally has a place that serves Schwartz style smoke meat. Moist, soft and delicious. This place has only been opened for a few months and they are selling out of smoke meat. We were there on Victoria day Monday and there was a steady stream of customers. Seems like a lot of the customers were former Montrealers. Now we don't have to drive to Montreal for our smoke meat fix! This is the only time I will eat fat. Order a MEDIUM smoke meat sandwich which means it will have a small amount of fat. This makes the sandwich tasty and moist. The sandwich also goes good with a Cott black cherry coke and a order of fries. We are from Mississauga but will drop by Sumilicious every chance we get. I didn't enjoy my smoked meat sandwich; it was very dry and too thickly cut. The smoked meat sandwich was coarse and didn't come close to reminding me of any Montreal smoke meat deli sandwich. My fries arrived when I was on my last bite; especially on Fry-day! Ordered a smoke meat sandwich combo and the presentation was well below any dine-in experience. It was a high school cafeteria presentation with tray and prepackaged food. The pickle was wrapped in a bag, coleslaw was a small portion in the prepackaged plastic container (who knows when it was made and/or packaged), the fries were served in a bag (got it 5-10 mins after I got my sandwich), sandwich was wrapped in paper and this was a dine-in order! Was just here today and it was one d*mn fine sandwich. They are not officially open yet; grand opening in is a week. So they are still in the soft opening stage. The menu is short and simple, but don't let that deter you from what is some of the best meat I have ever had. I walked in, not knowing what to expect. My experience with Montreal smoked meat is limited (frozen stuff) so consider me a new initiate. The owners, seeing that I didn't know what to order, gave me a sample of the meat. Cut just thin enough (1-2mm thick), with just a line of fat attached, the meat was incredibly flavourful and tender. Just melts in the mouth with little effort. The juices fill the mouth, the spices tickling my nose, enticing me further. In mere seconds, I was hooked, and needed more. Thus, I ordered a sandwich. The meat was piled high; more than an inch thick of meat between two slices of rye, plus a healthy squirt of mustard. I relished the flavour and aroma, the chew, and light amount of fat. In fact, next time, I'll see if I can get some of the fattier end; its that flavourful, and I just don't care about my waistline. The bread though, could have been better. Suggestion to owners: contract a local bakery for good rye bread. There are a few of them around the area (really!) The sandwich alone came in at 8.99+tax (so 10.15). Personally, I think it is priced a dollar, and a bit, too much for the area. Too many Chinese, Indian, and Hakka joints around. So I hope they lower the prices a little, or sweeten the deal with a free drink or the like. That said, I would definitely come again! After ordering the sandwich, I had spotted smoked meat poutine on the menu. It would have been too much for one meal, but I know exactly what to get the next time I come around. Keep up the good job! There is nothing better then scarfing down a mountain of succulent, juicy and amazingly seasoned Montreal smoked meat, with just the right amount of fat. It's piled between two slices of soft rye, perfect of sopping up all those delicious leftover juices. Couple that with some hand-cut, well seasoned fries, vinegary coleslaw and crisp and briny house made pickles, and you have what you would call a perfect lunch. Went here on a Thursday at noon. Walked in to get takeout. There was only one guest seated and three people behind the counter. I stood under there "Order Here" sign where the owner was slicing away at the meat. No one acknowledged me or even said Hello until another man before me asked about his order. It was then I initiated to order a smoked meat sandwich to go. Again, he nodded and didn't even ask me what type of meat I wanted (lean, medium or fat). It was afterwards that a man behind the "Pay Here" sign asked if I'd been helped. I reiterated my order. The sandwich was good value. Took the sandwich home and unfortunately it was cold by the time I got. Once unravelled, the foil and paper bag along with the sandwich was extremely greasy but there was tons of meat and mustard as posted in my photo. Overall, the service needs improving but the smoked meat sandwich was great. Dare I say better than Schwartz in Montreal? (Although pickles and sides are extra). Personally I don't see what the hype is about. I visited during a weekday around 2pm after the lunchtime rush. Staff was friendly enough. I was expecting much more. While I didn't specify fatty cut, my sandwich was really dry and contained hardly any full slices of smoked meat but rather had mostly the leftover scraps from previous carvings. I also found the bread a mess. The pieces were of different sizes and the person that cut the sandwich did not take care in cutting the pieces of bread and made eating the sandwich very messy. I will give it one more try but so far I prefer other sandwiches more in the city. read more

If you're craving Montreal smoked meat but can't make it out to Montreal, come check this place out! I can't believe how close to home this place is. The smoked meat is so soft and tender and favor wise, it is very close to Schwartz and I only say Schwartz because that's probably the main place everyone knows of. I drive by all the time, but never noticed the place until recently... very unfortunate. The pickles they have are from the same company Schwartz uses from what I remember, correct me if I'm wrong. The only thing I don't like is their bread, it doesn't taste amazing and I'm not crazy about how they cut their sandwiches, the top and bottom slices aren't cut evenly so there isn't an even distribution of bread to meat ratio when you reach the end. They have a decent amount of items on their menu, so my next try there will be their smoked meat poutine! Looks delish! read more
