Had some crowns done in 2014. I say "some": my impression was that I was getting one crown, until I…read morewent outside to pay my bill for the first part of the treatment, and found that they'd actually worked on two adjacent teeth. So - surprise! - I was up for twice the cost. What could I do, with two holes now waiting to be filled in my lower right jaw, but hand over my debit card, grin and bear it? A few weeks later, the two crowns were duly installed, and I was promised at least "fifteen to twenty years" of good use out of them, provided I didn't do anything foolish. As it happened, the first one fell out within eighteen months - while I was brushing my teeth! - and the second popped out less than a year later, while I was on holiday. I was eating an orange. Which didn't seem an especially foolish abuse of the procedure. But there you go. So, to recap: $3200 down, for a job that lasted about one-tenth as long as they promised. I now live in the US, and am now in the hole for almost USD10K in an attempt to fix what Dr Karyne De Agapito did. Given this, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that I hate her - for her crooked dealings in the first instance, and her shoddy workmanship thereafter - and that I wish this entire establishment ill.

I gave one more star than I'd have liked simply because the work I had done was done properly…read more Unfortunately, that is where the positive comments end. Today I went in to simply have a tooth filled, and was told by the dentist I had a myriad of other dental problems, one of which was a "very acidic mouth environment". For that, fair enough. But this observation was followed by the presumptuous and frankly, plain rude inquiry of whether I'm a user of "party drugs". To which I declined, rather shocked. Thereafter, I was informed that I had worn my back teeth considerably by grinding, and that if I didn't do something about it soon, I would have "sagging", which is unfortunate because "I'm a very young girl". Considering also that the dentist appeared to be near my age, I felt this to be quite patronising. When I asked whether it was okay to swallow some bitter solution the dentist irrigated my mouth with, she replied rather condescendingly "well, we wouldn't put anything in your mouth you couldn't potentially swallow, would we". She then proceeded to mock her colleagues accent as they proceeded to have a conversation over the top of me. In my humble opinion, technical competence has little to do with exercising discretion or being respectful when dealing with people. I know, because I also work in customer service. I was stunned by the unprofessionalism this dentist displayed. Also for the apparently sorry state of my teeth! Though I'm sure this was an attempt to extort more money from me, which wasn't necessary considering for this visit, I was charged upwards of $380. I definitely wont be returning.

Otherwise, I'd only use it if you have to.

The inner suburb of Summer Hill is located 8 km west of the Sydney central business district…read more Before British settlement, Summer Hill was the home of the Wangal and Cadigal Aboriginal peoples, and the open plains were hoppin' with kangaroos. A smallpox outbreak in 1789 led to the demise of the Aboriginals in this area. The first governor of the British colony, Governor Phillip estimated that half of the local Aboriginal people died from the disease, and also noted that the Aboriginal people "retired from where the diseases appeared" as well. Funny that. By the 1920s, Summer Hill was upper-class and some of the local mansions are still in existence. Kinda neat to still see. After later becoming a working class area, the trendies and hipsters began moving in to cheap housing and renovating the place. Lots of apartment blocks are now here due to its proximity to the city. The Summer Hill railway station was opened in 1879 when the train line came through. A renovation and Easy Access upgrade of the railway station was completed in 2004. Between the two dates nothing much happened. Most of the local shops are clustered close to the station, in typical Australian urban fashion. We had friends who moved here. The McCarthy's, who were Welsh immigrants, no less. They had a Paul McCarthy, but not the one you think. Their dad liked to get drunk and sing Danny Boy. Bless his heart - he was always very decent to me and I believe he may have passed away earlier this year. As a wee lad I would sometimes come here on the train with my mum to visit them, as she was freaked out with driving in Sydney till many years later. I can drive the freeways of Los Angeles with no problemo, but I am still freaked out by driving in Sydney.

Let me tell you a story. A few years ago, at the age of 26, I made the grave discovery that my…read morewisdom teeth had decided it was time to terrorize my mouth. I pretended it wasn't happening for a good 12 months, until one day I woke up and noticed that my otherwise perfectly straight bottom teeth had been shoved out of alignment as the malicious good for nothing wisdom tooth tried to battle for a place in my mouth. A place that simply was not there. It was time. I scoured the internet for the least sinister sounding dentist. I found Gentle Touch Dental. Not only do I like things that rhyme, but I also like a dentist that is gentle. I have now been attending this practice for almost three years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. My wisdom tooth extraction was exceptionally difficult, for them, not me, I was in the land of happy gas. I had no complications post surgery and I healed up nicely. They are great and I'd highly recommend them for people who are scared of the dentist.
