Our server Tara was excellent. She had expertise timing. She was available but not over intrusive. We had a party of 8 and 4. Unfortunately, they couldn't put us together, but we made it work. The location has a spectacular view of Cleveland's skyline. Even with some haze, it was lovely. The food was a hit with everyone. We started with the clothesline bacon and a cinnamon roll. It was perfect for our table. The bacon was not candied as described. It was good, but not something I'd order again for the price. 5 "ok" sugared bacon. The presentation was cute and the blueberry preserves were tasty. The sliced baguette toast was way too hard (break a tooth hard). My Florentine Benedict was cooked perfect,y. I opted for the fruit instead of the potatoes. I didn't realize it would be a $4.00 add on, but it was fresh and all the fruit was perfect. Others had the chicken and waffles, with a side of blueberry sausage, a smash burger and various yummy cocktails. My pomegranate mimosa was delicious and the plump blackberry was scrumptious. The family wall of pictures was a great tribute to life, family, love and Michael T Joseph who sadly died too young. It's a wonderful place to go with friends and family. We loved the "Summer Place" during our previous visits. But unfortunately, this time they sat us in the bar area with no view other than people on high top chairs. Honestly, I wasn't feeling the love. Our server did an admirable job all evening. The beverages were very good. The menu is extensive but not overly impressive. My wife enjoyed her walleye. But my pork chop was a little dry and the green beans that came with it were spiced so hot they were uneatable (and there was no warning). Once we found the view it was nice but I didn't want to interrupt people at their tables. I don't want to be sour grapes. But it wasn't a great evening... Sorry. read more

Tried Summer Place for dinner with the family and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside. We had a table by the window in the bar area with a gorgeous view of the lake, which made for such a nice atmosphere. We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts with chili-maple aioli, red onions, no almonds due to my husband's allergy, and mint, along with the Cauliflower Wings served with house buffalo sauce and ranch. Both appetizers were flavorful and a great start to the meal. I ordered the Faroe Island Salmon with sweet chili glaze, wasabi mashed potatoes, and Szechuan broccoli salad, and really enjoyed the combination of flavors. My husband ordered the Chicken Grana Padano with crispy chicken cutlet, Sunday gravy, truffle sacchetti, and a lemon-arugula salad with grana and sun-dried tomatoes, which he really enjoyed. My younger son ordered the 6 oz filet mignon, while my oldest son went with the Gold Coast Burger topped with aged cheddar, peppered dry-aged bacon, crunchy malt vinegar aioli, lettuce, and Kool-Aid pickles, served with housemade fries. We were intrigued by the Kool-Aid pickles and were told they're actually marinated in Kool-Aid. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Mousse Cake and the Creme Brulee, which were both delicious and the perfect ending to the meal. Unfortunately, my son and I both ended up with stomachaches not too long after leaving, which put a bit of a damper on the experience and why I am giving this a 4-star review. Met friends from the Westside for drinks and snacks at 5:00pm for Happy Hour. Let me say the HH pricing and choices are great. We got lots of different choices and besides the shrimp and the only reason we didn't like it was they put old bay seasoning on it and it was not good!! Let's move on to the service = AWFUL! The bar staff couldn't care less about us. There was zero upselling, shame on them. And they couldn't bus one plate until we asked them to and we had a million plates from all we ordered!! I caught wind that Summer Place recently started doing lunch, so a coworker and I decided to give it a go while I was in town one day. It was actually my first time ever being here and I thought it was absolutely lovely. The location right on the water and the space itself is enough to make you say, "wow." It's seriously beautiful and definitely gives off "right on the water" vibes. It was almost as if we escaped to the beach for the day. We were seated immediately right along the windows that face Lake Erie and the service was top notch from start to finish. While there were many things on the menu that looked enticing, I opted for the blackened cod tacos with a house side salad. For starters, the house side salad was actually quite big and while simple, it was refreshing, which was exactly what I was craving. The tacos (3) were, of course, the star of the show and did not disappoint. I actually ate every bite. The cod was flavorful and the fresh guacamole on top was a great touch. I would have liked the cabbage slaw to be more finely shredded, but that's just a personal preference. It came with a side of rice that I also enjoyed. I'm definitely intrigued enough to come visit again for dinner sometime. Since I don't live in Cleveland I couldn't say when, but it's been added to my list. Summer Place recently started serving lunch and it was phenomenal! I got a fried walleye sandwich and side salad instead of fries. The fish was cooked perfectly. It seemed both perfectly seared and perfectly fried at the same time. Great brioche bun. My side salad was a great size also. The menu has a good variety of options including fish tacos, a burger and a few big plate options, as well as a you-pick-three with a choice of soup, salad, and half sandwich. I had been meaning to try Summer Place for quite awhile and a 70+ degree day in March seemed like a great reason to finally head over. As I was looking up their info, I saw that their happy hour extended to the weekend which was even better. I was rolling solo so I decided to just grab a seat at the bar. We started our Sunday Fun Day off right at Summer Place. Before you walk in, you indulge in lakefront and city backdrop views. Once you open the door, the entry way has a refreshing, lightly perfumed smell, then you open the main doors to a modern, cozy restaurant. The staff was incredibly polite, team oriented with multiple people taking dishes and checking in outside of your server, and the natural light from dozens of windows kept you smiling. Not only did they build the space with great intention, part of your bill and the interior design reflects a sweet message of supporting a foundation with Down syndrome and autism. The food here was overall not good. There was minimal dressing on the salad and the toast for the avocado was extremely dry and crumbly. The saving grace was the cinnamon roll. Cocktails were overall good. Service was a little slow. Music was very loud and fast like a sort of club vibe which felt a little out of place with the vibe and food. read more

Had a really fantastic experience here!! Really awesome spot with a cool city view and a great vibe inside. We shared shrimp cocktail to start which was absolutely amazing, really big shrimp that were fresh and tasty and had a nice sharp cocktail sauce with them I had the roasted tomato "flatbread", which is actually just a full sized pizza lol. It was great, excellent bang for your buck, really nice foldable crust that had a great flavor. I really enjoyed it and thought it was very filling even without any toppings! Took home leftovers too. My dining partner really enjoyed the bolognese pasta as well. Such a cute lake front restaurant! It's spacious and accommodating my friend and I for a busy Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar and had great service. The menu is pretty limited for brunch. Everything was so fresh and DELICIOUS! I discovered Summer Place on Yelp and recommended it for brunch to our football parents after the Moeller X St Ed's game in Cleveland. We were all very pleased. It is nicely situated on the waterfront and the scene is modern and swank. As a table, we ordered salads, a burgers, chicken and waffles, fresh juices, a bloody mary, and I ordered an omelet. We were so busy talking and taking in the scene that I totally failed to capture a photo of my food. But it was tasty! Additionally, the service was friendly, fast and efficient. I can't believe I've waited so long to try this place. Their happy hour menu is amazing. It's not very common to find a good weekend happy hour but this place has it. I came on a Sunday and there was a nice crowd but my sister and I still managed to grab seats at the bar. The food came out fast and they had generous portions. It's decorated very nice and the drinks were on point! I had a burger and I'd get it again minus the pickles. They were a neon green and super sweet which I didn't care for. We had breakfast here, and it was a really phenomenal experience. It's connected to a hotel, but it's situated right on the lake and the breathtaking views of Lake Erie were great, especially since winter is the best time to see it: if there was a complaint to be made it was freezing inside, but we went for breakfast rather than dinner and didn't mind so much. We shared the quiche which had amazing flavors and spared room for the next stop on our trip. It was delightfully crispy and the fluffy vegetarian based inside was a treat. The staff was spot on, though for locations like this we try to come immediately at opening or during off hours so you have solid service. My boyfriend & I went here for my birthday dinner! I made a reservation and requested to be sat by the window to see the sunset. They followed through - It was beautiful in the dining room and the perfect view for our meal!!! For drinks, we got the Strawberry Thyme Lemonade summer cocktail and a Moscow Mule. They were both delicious. For an appetizer, we couldn't decide between the lamb meatballs or whipped feta dip. We decided on the Whipped Feta with pita chips and we added on the assorted vegetables with an extra charge! We ate all of it - it was great! For entrees, I got the 8oz. Filet Mignon cooked medium and my boyfriend got the 14oz. New York Strip cooked medium rare. My filet was cooked to perfection and was probably the best filet I have had in awhile. We split the sides of garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus to go with our steaks. I am only giving this review 4 stars due to the New York Strip being cooked about medium well when we cut into it (requested to be medium rare). We didn't say anything as he enjoyed it regardless. But curious if this would happen again. A nice surprise was a birthday gelato with a lit candle! First time visiting this restaurant for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Megan, our waitress was absolutely wonderful with a smile and such great service and recommendations for things on the menu. My friend Stacey and I really enjoyed the entire experience. The food was very tasty and healthy portion of delicious fries with my Divine Smashburger . I will be talking about this place to others on the east side of Cleveland. Definitely worth the drive. Came here for my friends birthday this time and it was, again, delicious! We got a pizza and burger to share!! The short bread pizza was so yummy!! You kind of get a steak for cheaper in my eyes... right? either way it was good and the entire pizza was gone!! The burger was the perfect counter part!! Cooked perfectly as we asked and the fries were so crispy...(the best way to eat fries!!!) We even got a cheese cake to celebrate our friend's birthday!!! Had a wonderful girls night at Summer Place! My sister and our friend had been here before but it was my first time. It was so cute inside. We went at happy hour and the drinks were delicious. We got three appetizers to share between us which was just enough food. But I have to give a special shout out to the Brussel sprouts! Can't say I'm not a fan of them but Summer Place's Brussels sprouts made me a believer that they're delicious. The service was wonderful. A very beautiful location and good service but the brunch food was a bit mid, imo. I got the oysters to split with others and the big breakfast (with steak and eggs). The main issue I had was that the steak was kind of tough and that was the main star of the meal. The eggs were fine ( though a friend got scrambled and did not like it) and so were the hash browns. Went for Easter brunch. Food good but execution very poor. No labels on buffet food items so you have to lift up each item to see what it is and food gets cold. Plus the serving dishes were in such an awkward position very hard to grab the food and put on your plate. Then they have waffles but absolutely nothing to put on your waffles. No whipped creme fruit or powdered sugar. There's syrup but not near waffles. Then there's fried potatoes but no catsup nearby. And when asked server for it, never got it. The only fruit they have is this tin of mixed fruit but it's kinda gross with full of all the melon juices and strawberry stems still on and floating all over juices. And since they auto add the gratuity you are stuck giving 20% for very underwhelming service. read more
