Buyer beware. When I ordered the pool house, I was given a ship date of the first week of July. Manufacturing kept getting delayed. It was delivered today, September 19th. I won't be able to use it this year. Because of the delay, Summerwood's fault, shipping increased from $2000 to $4000. They "generously" offered to split the cost. With no allowance for cancellation and refund, I paid the $1000 on top of other increased charges from mistakes they made in their estimate, which I paid. I ordered a "pre-assembled" kit. Here's a picture of what I got. They nailed together a few of the 2' x 6's for some of the floor and sides. As my contractor said, this is no one's definition of pre-assembled. It will now cost me thousands more to build. And finally, when the truck leaves, the company takes no responsibility for missing or damaged parts. There are thousand of parts. If 100 were missing, it would be impossible to tell. You're supposed to count hundreds and hundreds of slats and shingles to ensure they didn't miss any? In the end, it would have been faster and cheaper to have had my contractor build this from scratch. If you do decide to order from Summerwood, add months and thousands of dollars to their estimate and don't pay thousands extra for "pre-assembled." Caveat emptor. read more

I bought a precut Gazebo Kit( 8' model) from Summerwood products back in 1997. I was real happy to see that they were still making Gazebos. I had to replace the roof panels in the Cupola and other various parts of the gazebo. Even though they did not make the style of Gazebo that I bought back then anymore, Jared Newton (Installation manager) had me come over wih the Cupola and the drawings of Gazebo to Summerwood Products. There he had one of his workers (Shane) take the measurements and cut all the required pieces of I needed to restore the Cupola and other parts of Gazebo. They all did this in a couple of hours for a fair price. Thank you so much Jared. Your crew did a fantastic job. I can now refurbish my Gazebo in time for it's 30th Anniversary! On July 8th, 2019 I purchase and 8 by 10 foot shed from Summerwood Products, 735 Progress Avenue, Scarborough, Ont. For the amount of $12,803.74 with a 2 year warranty, installed August 28th, 2019. Summer of 2021, last year of the warranty, I was housebound due to an injury. Summer 2022, I entered the shed and was shocked at the amount of water damage there was in the shed. The floor, the door and all horizontal boards from the roof line down. None of the corners, window frames and door frames were sealed. Sunlight was visible through most of the horizontal boards and knot holes. I contacted the company July 11th, 2022 and eventually dealt with Mr. Peter Harvey, President and CEO of the company. He insisted that I had an automatic sprinkler system on my property which was causing the problem. I do not. Sheds are purchased to store and protect items and the fact that it leaks as much as it does is very disappointing. But more so, even though the warranty was past, the president of the company did not address the problem and stand behind his product. The theory is that the cedar was not seasoned and over a period of 2 years dried after installation and shrunk creating gaps large enough that the sunlight was visible through the horizontal boards allowing rainwater to enter the bulding. The theory on the cracked window, it fit snuggly in the frame and as the shed settled it put pressure on the glass and it cracked. Mr. Harvey offered to replace the window for $490.00. I declined, he did advise me however to "go to any local hardware store, purchase caulking and have it installed between the pieces of siding". . Eventually, after 37 e-mails and 10 months an employee came to my property and sealed all horizontal boards, windows, etc. Rainwater was still entering the building and puddling on the floor. I hired a handy man who noticed the threshold board under the door slanted to the interior of the shed. He shimmed it up and problem solved. If you wish to purchase from this company, I encourage you to negotiate a 3 year contract, the amount of time unseasoned wood takes to dry out. read more

I had the same experience as other customers here. I put down a deposit, but was ultimately unable to build. I understood an agreed upon portion of the deposit would be withheld, and that was understandable due to administration fees. However, they withheld the ENTIRE deposit, about $2,500 above the admin fee we agreed on. Dishonest people. Would not ever do business with them and would not recommend this to others. I purchased a shed on sale last year and had it constructed by the company. I've had an issue with my door and lock but have received no satisfaction from the company.i sealed the shed with paint thinner and linseed oil but the company said because I did not use a stain they will not honour their warranty.i'm extremely disappointed in their customer service.I could have purchased a similar shed much more cheaply from COSTCO but chose Summerwood based on it's reviews.I was sorely disappointed! read more

Do not do business with this company. We put down a significant deposit on a structure from them last summer that didn't get built (permit delays). Now they are saying that because of a change in ownership they are not bound to honour our deposit! The same website, at the same URL, advertises the same company, with the same name, selling the same products with the same people on staff. But they won't give us a refund or a credit for the amount we paid them last year! We're going to have to sue. Don't go there! read more
