Sumo Sushi continues to impress with both the quality and variety on the menu. We started with several appetizers, and each one was packed with flavor. The sizzling prime steak was cooked perfectly, the Korean galbi short ribs were tender and savory, and the bulgogi fries were a standout with the perfect balance of sweet and savory. For sushi, the Wagyu steak nigiri was incredibly rich and buttery, while the Wagyu carpaccio and yellowtail carpaccio were fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The scallops were another highlight and melted in your mouth. To finish the meal, the affogato ice cream was the perfect ending--simple, refreshing, and delicious. From start to finish, Sumo Sushi delivered a memorable dining experience with excellent food and plenty of unique options. Definitely one of our favorite spots, and we look forward to coming back to try even more dishes.

Wow! My new favorite place for AYCE!! I love the seared salmon and tuna options! They don't pound a bunch of rice with it either! Everything on that premium sushi and no rice special are very good! Lots of great options! I wish they had a premium option where I can get AYCE on those too but you only get like 1 piece per person! The prime steak and kalbi were worth getting! Again you only limited to 1portion per person. What's the point of AYCE when these are only limited. Service was quick! Staff very attentive and friendly! Great ambiance. Perfect for groups and date night!

First time here and I tried the AYCE. After ordering, the food came out rather quickly, which I appreciated. I ordered a couple rolls, the lobster garlic bread and the green mussles. Unfortunately, all of these dishes missed the mark. The mussels were a nice size but lacked serious flavor. The baked scallops were small and topped with an excessive amount of cheese and the lobster bread had small pieces of langostino and was rather cheesy. The rice on the sushi was minimal and not overly packed. The fish looked and tasted fresh and the portion sizes were adequate. The dining area is large with ample space to accommodate several guests. It's beautifully designed and adorned with cherry blossoms throughout the space. My server, Sergio, was friendly and very patient and waited until I decided what to order. When comparing this spot to similar establishments it's good but not great.

A wise Yelp friend once told me in the past 24 hours to research the restaurant ahead of time. Guess who has two thumbs and had to learn that the hard way? Sumo Henderson is the new active business in the old Sushi Wa spot the latest location of this brand that may or may not be related to the old Sumo Sushi locations around Las Vegas. These days, it's owned by the same restaurant group known for Sakana, Neko, and other popular local all-you-can-eat sushi outposts. Experienced AYCE consumers will know to expect reasonable quality fish, high fish-to-rice ratios, and sauces on nigiri. I should have also remembered to note the late-night happy hour because I showed up right in the middle of the happy hour rush. For $19.95, you can order from a limited menu that still has a variety of apps, nigiri, and rolls from 9pm-11pm. Yes, 11pm because it's their last call despite their listed hours, and it seems to supersede regular timing rules. So anyway, after over half an hour of waiting, I did get to sit down and try a variety of foods. I ended up skipping rolls entirely since nothing sounded that exciting. For apps/related, the Honey Bee Toro was a meaty yet surprisingly tender grilled pork belly, and the Baked Green Mussel (not the cheese one) was sauced with restraint and had decent flavor. I mostly focused on nigiri though, and they were mostly very satisfying. The surprise hits were the Seared Salmon and Seared Super White Tuna, both of which came topped with a basil mayo with a kewpie base. It was kinda like crack. The Yuzu Salmon and Yuzu Yellowtail are also can't-miss. The first order of the latter came with a very de-seeded slice of jalapeño, and it had a surprisingly harmonious repartee between the sweetness of the yuzu and the vegetal flavor of the chili pepper. Also, I would definitely get Garlic Tuna, Lemon Salmon, regular Yellowtail, Squid (comes with yuzu) and even the Super White despite the copious amounts of screaming o sauce on it. I tried to get regular Albacore but seemed to get Cajun Albacore, which was still pretty good. The lone truly forgettable order was the Surf Clam, which was supposed to have yuzu per the menu but didn't. Actually, maybe the slightly rubbery Unagi too. The lone dessert option currently on Happy Hour is Vanilla Ice Cream. It's kinda a kids' scoop, to put it generously. I would actually say a baby scoop. If you have a backup dessert available nearby (not the now-closed froyo shop), definitely go for it. I liked my happy hour dinner at Sumo a lot despite not having enough time for the higher levels of fullness. I'll definitely have to return at a more reasonable hour of the day and check out their All Day menu specials on that occasion.

Just had a great late night dinner at Sumo Henderson. This place is on Eastern and Coronado in a space that has plenty of parking. It's beautifully decorated with pretty cherry blossoms throughout the restaurant. We came in for their Happy Hour which is everyday from 9pm -close with last call at 11pm. To get ahead of the Happy Hr crowd we got there around 840 and were able to put our name on the list. We got seated promptly at 9. Although it was a limited menu we were still stuffed. Here are the items we loved: Mango habanero chicken Baked green mussels Lisa Lisa Cajun Albacore Yuzu Salmon I didn't get the name of our server but he was excellent. All the staff provided great service. Can't wait to go back.

Variety of fresh fish offering was vast while for my partner who doesn't eat much fish but more beef was slim. We came for an early dinner on a Friday, opted for the all day pricing as that has premium beef and other fish I wanted to try, and service was wonderful. I ordered uni and that did not taste fresh, heavy with a fishy smell. But all the other offerings were good. I liked that there are many sashimi options so you can get the protein without rice. The king salmon and the fatty salmon sashimi were amongst my favorite. It's a bit dark inside at 3:30pm, but that is definitely better than getting the hot sun.

I usually HATE Ayce sushi, but this place was very good. I was impressed with their selection and options available. We came here for my mom's birthday! I'm glad I chose this spot because WOW! I'm a big fan of all you can eat sushi so I try to go to all the different ones to test out and compare. This has to be on top of my list. The kampachi was amazing! I was also so happy you guys had uni and ama ebi here! The snow crab too! We also were impressed by how fresh the sashimi was. I know you guys are fairly new but PLEASE don't ever change the menu. Keep these items because they were SO GOOD! I will definitely be back!

Sumo sushi, in the old sushiwa location on Coronado center drive. Ample parking in the private lot. This place just opened and it was absolutely packed at 9pm. Due to the 19.95 sushi happy hour I presume. After about a 20 minute wait, we were seated for the happy hour festivities. Service for ordering was relatively quickly. This place is new and they are slammed so know that going in, it may not be perfectly streamlined yet. To start we ordered half rolls of the top 8, salmon, yellowtail and red snapper nigiri. The nigiri came out first and fast. Every bite was fresh and delicious. So far so good, big shoes to fill for me as I was a huge sushi wa fan. The rolls took a bit to come out but later discovered that may have been our fault and confusion with the waiter. No biggie. Half the top 8 was delivered and every single one of the rolls killed it. Spicy, creamy, full of flavor, very single one different in their own way but all sharing the fact they were delicious. Next up, an order of beef bulgogi. This arrived smoking hot and absolutely delicious like everything else. Sumo sushi has taken its rightful place atop my new go to sushi list. While I miss Sushi Wa, I am pleased to see some of the old decor still in place inside and out. It helps me not miss it so much. The food was absolutely incredible and fresh. I am so happy to have a sushi place once again here in this plaza. The happy hour is a smoking deal and the wait staff is great. I look forward to many more visits here.

Came here at noon on a Sunday and it was pretty empty (but expected since this is a new location.) It was the first time at this location but I love and been to the other locations. The interior is a little dark but so pretty with the cherry blossom trees and the lanterns in the top. My friend and I were starving so I only managed to get a picture of the Salmon nigiri! Everything tasted wonderful though. I love the fact their nigiri doesn't have that much rice to it. My favorites were the salmon nigiri, eel nigiri, and the yuzu yellowtail! We also got the spider roll and dragon roll. Definitely recommend dragon if you are a fan of eel! Service was also great! They were on top on making sure we stayed hydrated with water and bringing out the food! Very awesome service. Definitely coming back here again and I'm so happy they made a location here in Henderson!

Dined here for lunch today with my daughters and we enjoyed every bite! We got the all day special and ordered several nigiri and half rolls. The appetizers we loved were the kalbi, the shit, and the coconut shrimp. The lemon salmon roll and mango salmon roll were our faves. The salmon belly, bluefin tuna, and super white nigiri were all outstanding! We had great service even though the place was quite busy. I love the ambiance here, similar to sushi neko with pink cherry blossom trees. I'll be back for sure!

Decided to order ala carte instead of AYCE since my kids will not eat $35 worth of sushi. Size of the rolls were tiny and the slices of fish for nigiri sushi were cut very thin and small. Probably the smallest portions compared to all other sushi places in the area. read more

Visited Sumo Sushi Henderson shortly after opening to try their late-night AYCE happy hour, which is advertised at $19.95 from 9PM to close (with last call listed as 11PM). We arrived around 9:05PM, were seated at approximately 9:15PM, and placed our first round of orders shortly after. We were pleased to learn that the full menu is included in the happy hour pricing, which is a strong value. However, the experience became inconsistent as the visit went on. After completing our first round, we were informed that last call for AYCE would actually be at 10PM due to internal traffic management. This differed from the menu's stated 11PM last call and was not communicated to us prior to ordering. As a result, we placed what became our final round around 9:45-9:50PM. That second round was not served until approximately 10:25PM, which limited the overall ability to fully utilize the AYCE experience. We asked for clarification regarding the discrepancy between the posted 11PM last call and the 10PM cutoff we were given. The explanation provided was that the sushi bar closes at 10PM. However, this was somewhat unclear, as additional guests were still being seated after 10PM and appeared to be allowed to order under modified conditions. Service throughout the visit was limited, with minimal check-ins over the course of roughly two hours. Given that the restaurant has recently opened, some of these issues may be attributable to operational adjustments. That said, clearer communication regarding last call policies and more consistent service would significantly improve the experience. read more

I was there last night with my family, Alondra was our server & she was PHENOMENAL, great recommendations and FANTASTIC service. She recommended the Amazing Spider Roll & the Shit app, which were my favorites of the night! We were so happy to spot that another Sumo Sushi location was opening so close to where we live in Henderson! We were lucky enough to come in on the first day of their soft opening and have their late night happy hour special. We got most of our regular rolls and pieces. Everything tasted just as good as their other location minus the heavy crowds (which will be inevitable once the restaurant is fully opened). The rice to fish ratio was crazy. Barely any rice with each piece of nigiri. Whether that is bad or good is for you to decide. I'm fine with less rice but it does make it a bit harder to grab cleanly with chopsticks, but nicer that you get to eat more hehehe. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Hoping maybe we can get that same level of decor as the original location as the current setup is kind of bland in comparison, though we didn't really care at the time since we were so hungry so this is more of a hindsight thought. All in all we're definitely coming back more often now that it's so close to us! read more

We had a disappointing experience at Sumo during their late night AYCE promotion. Several of our orders never arrived, and when we brought it to our server's attention, he seemed uninterested and continued focusing on other tables. The fish quality was very poor quality and my stomach hurts while typing this. At one point, another server checked on us and seemed surprised by how long we had been waiting and that some of our items were still missing, which makes me think our experience may have been due in part to poor service from our server.Save your time and go to similar priced AYCE sushi around the area. read more

Came on a Monday night at 9:30 pm for their happy hour. Service was so bad and slow. Multiple orders were put in wrong and were missing. Tried to follow up and speed up the food, but it was still so slow. Saw many people who came after us finished before us, don't know is it our servicer is slow or what is going on. Had a great experience here! The sushi was amazing -- everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the presentation was really nice too. The service was just as good. I can't remember our server's name, but she had super cute cat eyeliner and was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Just found out Sumo Sushi took over Sushi Wa so we came here on Saturday 4/18 for lunch. It was just me and my wife in there which is great because I dont like noisy restaurant. Sushi was great with so many selection. They gave you big portion of fish and very little rice for nigiri. Our server ( Alondra ) was fantastic. She was very tentative and helpful. Restaraunt is very clean and spacious with easy parking. read more

We found our new go-to sushi spot! Tried Sumo Sushi Henderson today. What a great find! The atmosphere is awesome and has a vibe that you're looking for in a sushi restaurant. First and foremost, the food is fantastic! The fish was so fresh and the grilled items were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Really good menu with everything you're looking for. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food because I didn't get to eat any. Despite "closing" at midnight they stop serving at 11. It's one thing to close the kitchen 15 mins before closing or such but an hour? Might as well list closing time as 11 instead. I won't drive there again. read more

The sashimi , sushi, all melted in your mouth. So many different flavors with each plate. Not over powering sauces which most places do to hide the low quality of fish. Not here each piece was a culinary deliciousness of flavor. The rolls are not typical all rice little filling. The rice enhanced the filling. No need to use soy sauce! The ginger they supply was so fresh we had 4 servings of it. The restaurant is a 50s style diner, but it doesn't matter what the place looked like with this incredible food. We've NEVER had sushi like this. It's expensive, but you are paying for Japan quality sushi. With all the sushi spots and AYCE places I see why it was so slow. I asked if it gets busy, and was given a few jokingly sarcastic answers from I think owner, which was ok cause I joked back and he got it. If you want the experience of going to a master sushi chef restaurant in Japan, go to Tokyo Boys. You'll pay for a great experience. We hope when we come back to Henderson to return!

It's one of those restaurants that has become a tradition for our family, and every time we visit we're reminded why it's always packed. There has been a recent change in ownership, and they now offer an all-you-can-eat menu. I'll admit I was hesitant at first because sometimes AYCE sushi can mean sacrificing quality. Thankfully that is not the case here at all. The quality is just as good as it's always been. We started with the garlic edamame, which is always a great way to kick things off. From there we ordered steamed gyoza, yellowtail, yuzu salmon sushi, and then took advantage of one of the best parts of the all-you-can-eat menu... you can order half rolls. This makes it so easy to try a variety of different rolls without committing to full ones. That said, the one roll I will never order as a half is the Flower Roll. It's been my favorite here for years and is an absolute must every time we visit. Our waitress also recommended trying the Irish Roll, which was new to us and ended up being excellent. We'll definitely be ordering that again. We also tried a half Candy Cane Roll, which was another great option. One of the reasons we keep coming back, beyond the food, is the service. Because we've been coming here for so long, the staff recognizes us and they are always incredibly kind and welcoming. It really adds to the experience. This restaurant is almost always packed, and there's a very good reason for that. The food is consistently great and the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. A couple other menu items worth mentioning: The Joe Special is fantastic (even though we didn't order it this visit), and my daughter always loves the Niku Udon noodles. After 15+ years, I Love Sushi is still a five-star experience for us, and it's a place we always look forward to visiting with family and friends.

In a city with such a huge hospitality industry, genuinely great service can be hard to find, and this place consistently stands out. The AYCE is an amazing deal, and the BOGO beers are a huge bonus! Ironically, I have a seafood allergy and can only tolerate small amounts of tuna, but we specifically come here for the "jalapeño poppers," which are so good. I've also never had any issues with cross contamination, which gives me a lot of confidence dining here. My husband is a sushi regular and absolutely loves Kaizen as well. Our three kids (all 6 and under) always have a great experience too -- they love the coloring pages, the kid-friendly menu options, and the special treat they get on the way out!! It's become one of our family's favorite spots.

The rice was wet and mushy. I requested pan fried gyoza and they deep-fried them. The udon was horrible. I had to call over someone who I believe was the manager to complain about the poor quality of the food. He didn't even offer a response and just stood there, staring at the wet rice on the plate. He didn't apologize, didn't offer to comp anything. He continued standing there awkwardly until I told him he needs to comp something because it was all bad. He offered to comp my one bowl of udon so I paid $87 for some of the worst food I've had in quite a while. Bad food and even worse service. Zero stars if I could.

Came back to this sumo sushi again and somehow it was even better the second time. The food was still absolutely fantastic -- fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for every time. The atmosphere is also really pretty and cozy, making it such a perfect place for a date night or just a nice relaxing dinner. What really made the experience special though was getting the same server again -- her name is Leah -- and she was just as amazing as last time. Super friendly, attentive, and she even remembered me, which honestly made the whole visit feel really welcoming. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and amazing service all around.
