Pork Baco - red one was the best!

For me, the food was a 3; service bumped it to a 4. I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't rush back. Started off with drinks which felt slightly high in price ($18 ea) but I chalked it up to location. My friend (male) got an "I love you" drink and the server first made sure he knew it was ver sweet and 2nd asked if he wanted it in the heart glass or a "normal" one which we appreciated. We started off with the gumbo soup dumplings, which were good and presented well. We also had some kind of meat, taco looking thing and the meat in one was definitely the winner. For mains we did the bulgogi. Meat was good. Rice was NOT sticky and was sadly dry and barely edible. The salad was on the small side which is fine but just didn't feel truly "sharable." Server checked back in multiple times and got us to go cups when we were ready and overall she was very sweet and engaging which was nice since my friend was visiting.

Saw this place on Instagram and decided to try it out and we were glad we did. We didn't have a reservation and they're pretty busy so we sat at the bar. The restaurant is very dimly lit which may be the only con, it was a bit too dark. The food made up for it. The gumbo soup dumplings were amazing. Would order those every time I go. The Spicy Seafood Ramen was also very good. I wish we would have tried more items. Would definitely recommend.

I was visiting New Orleans and was missing some Asian food, so my friend and I found this restaurant on Yelp which had amazing reviews, so we had to check it out ourselves. We were starving when we arrived, and with our luck, the service that day was not the best. It took a while for them to take our order, bring the food/drinks, and the check to pay. Our server did end up acknowledging and apologizing for the service. We split the galbi which came with a side of rice and salad. The galbi was kind of salty, but definitely flavorful. I also tried the drink "i love you" which was in a heart shaped glass and tasted fruity. If you are in the area and are craving Asian food, the food is actually delicious. Although we did not try a lot of their items, they have some unique items on their menu.

Gigi is amazing!!! Interacts well with the staff who sit at the bar.

We were walking around looking for a place to grab food and cocktails. While looking online, we saw this pop up and diverted from original restaurant. I am so glad we did. When I say everything was good. Gigi was behind that bar mixing like her life depended on it. Lol We love this history behind the restaurant. The blending of Korean and Creole flavors really works here. The place was very lively and has hip hop tunes playing in the background. The neon signs give tribute to the history. The service was great as the staff were very friendly. Food pictured: Cocktails: Dragonfruit lemon drop and a passion fruit lemon drop Shot: Green tea shot Food: Spicy Seafood Ramen, Neno Friend Chicken w/ crawfish fried rice and Gumbo Soup Dumplings Prices are reasonable and match the portion sizes. Many of the dishes are sized for sharing. I definitely plan to make this a staple during visits.

We came here right before we left NOLA. It was BUSY!!! But it's expected in the area, again it's NOLA so it's always busy. We got sat down pretty quick because we decided to eat at the bar. Our bartender/ waitress was so sweet and she was WORKING!! Getting the drinks out, taking down orders all that! She was amazing! Super attentive despite how busy she was. She took her time to explain some of the drinks she was making which was thoughtful! We were just curious watching her make all these different drinks. The food was great! The gumbo soup dumplings were out of this world! The chicken salad was that a chicken salad nothing stood out and then the bulgolgi po boy? Fire! We'll definitely come back to this spot when we visit.

**sigh** this is still one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in New Orleans! The food is consistently amazing, the service is always spectacular, and no matter what time of day you visit, you're guaranteed to have an incredible experience. The vibe here is a relaxing and laid-back, that makes you want to sit back and unwind. It's one of those places that never disappoints and keeps you coming back for more.

Sun Chong delivers a fun Korean New Orleans fusion experience with a lively atmosphere that clearly draws a crowd. The restaurant was packed during our visit, giving the space an energetic and social vibe that worked well for a night out. The kimchi lobster pasta was the highlight of the meal. It balanced richness with a nice punch of flavor and felt like a successful fusion dish rather than just a novelty. The gumbo dumplings, on the other hand, sounded more exciting than they actually tasted. They leaned noticeably salty, and the flavors did not quite come together in a way that justified the hype. The drink menu offers plenty of variety, though nothing we tried particularly stood out. Still, there are enough options to complement the food and overall experience. Service kept things moving despite how busy the restaurant was, and overall it is a solid spot if you are looking for something lively and different. Some dishes shine more than others, but the creativity and atmosphere make it worth checking out at least once.

Sun Chong was my #1 favorite dinner pick during my vacation. My food and drinks were great. The shrimp bao buns were great. The wings were so good and the crawfish fried rice was really good as well. My friends did not enjoy all of their food. One said the ribs were too spicy, however, from a third party visualization, they were huge and well presented. My other friend had some type of beef with rice and peppers, she said it was kind of dry. The only issue I had was the wait time. We had to wait outside for 25-30 minutes, then we sat at the bar once there was availability and just ended up ordering at the bar because it took so long for them to call us for a table. And once we ordered at the bar it still took over a half hour for the food to come.

I'm everything was delish! Almost I mean. Let's talk about all the good stuff. Let me start with my Favorite bite/ fried chicken... I have never, ever had fried chicken so damn good! Moist, delectable, juicy, fragrant, tender chicken wings. There were 6 of us and our waiter, Johari, did an outstanding job of guiding us through the menu. We ordered quite a few appetizers; everything we had was absolutely delish!!!

    Gumbo Soup Dumplings! Phenomenal!!

I enjoyed my dining experience at Sun Chong! The vibe was chill, and the playlist definitely elevated the mood without being too loud. This place was high on my list on a recent visit to NOLA, and I was not disappointed. Doris, my waitress, was amazing and attentive! I'm not a big drinker, so she suggested I do the I Love You as a mocktail. It was delicious, a little sweet for me, but I was able to add water. The gumbo soup dumplings were the star of the show!! For my main, I had the ribs, and I upgraded my rice to the crawfish fried rice, and it was delicious! I wish I had a bigger stomach because there were so many more items that I wanted to try. If you're visiting NOLA, you should definitely check it out, but make sure you have reservations.

If you from the city, then you know this place use to be the pizza stop. And honestly they had some good pizza. But now there's a new boss in town lol When you walk in they have the presence of the manager and the hostess. Which is great, because we know front of house is always taken care of. Our bartender was Tia, she was such a sweetheart with a calming & happy voice. Let's start off with the drinks. We ordered The Seoul margarita 10/10 that's a perfect margarita The Seoul smash 8/10 and honestly because I'm not a fan of the bitter taste, but it was strong. For the food. We ordered Gumbo dumplings- 8/10 and that's because I was honestly looking for that gumbo taste but it was a bit of a tangy twist to it.. the dumplings could have also been a little softer. Bulgogi-10/10 had great flavor! And was close to my sister in laws beef bulgogi. * the side salad was fresh and good, the dressing was good as well I think I was a simple soy sauce. Glazed salmon- 10/10 the glaze had a bit of a hardened top which set it off fr! The bok choy was good as well! In the end we paid 209.88 with an added gratuity of 29.34 Overall will I be back YES!

It was definitely not the best food I've ever had. Service was also very slow and lacked attention. A bit over priced too. Veggie fried rice was very very bland. The Asian chicken salad was very average. Said it would come with strawberries but it did not. Yum yum ribs -beware it's a bit spicy! I think it comes from the gochujang. But a little too dry after they fried it. The bok choy that came with the ribs was the best part. Lobster pasta was good. Gumbo soup dumplings also was ok and a tad spicy.

The music is literally my entire playlist, Tupac, roots/erykah badu, inoj, etc. sang my entire meal. Jerry the manager came and checked in with us twice. His personality and hospitality shines! My husband liked his wings and veggie rice. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED my beef bulgogi. It was perfect! And it's something I always love if it's done right and it was!

I had been to New Orleans since 1987 to attend JazzFest until my near death and rebirth in 1999…read morewith Celiac disease about 6-7 times. After I was diagnosed with Gluten Intolerance as a foodie I thought my culinary life was over and one of the many, but not only joys, of going to Nola is the food. I was reluctant to go and then a bit later 20 years ago Katrina hit this great city. When I did return my reluctance of going due to my food restrictions was born out, but the fact that the people in New Orleans fry everything, including water. Besides jambalaya and some fresh fish, I couldn't eat anything. However, due to a friend who was born in New Orleans, grew up in New Orleans and lives half of the year there with her family involved in the restaurant business, Pat introduced me for a number of chefs and one in particular, Michael Gulotta, who modified dishes or even made me specially dishes that were gluten free. Every time I went to New Orleans, I tried to go to his two Vietnamese Cajun restaurants, MoPho and Maypop. Michael Gulotta, chef-owner at Mopho and Maypop was born and raised in New Orleans. Michael began cooking in local restaurants at a young age. After graduating from the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, he joined the newly opened Restaurant August. Gulotta then took leave to train in the Italian Riviera and Germany's Black Forest. When Hurricane Katrina hit, Michael returned home to help rebuild and assist with August's re-opening. He was named chef de cuisine in 2007 and led the award-winning kitchen for six years, while establishing relationships with local farmers and purveyors. He opened his first restaurant, MOPHO, in January of 2014 with his brother, Jeffrey Gulotta, and high-school friend, Jeffrey Bybee. Located in New Orleans' Mid City, MOPHO was a true neighborhood restaurant and a destination for Southeast Asian inspired cuisine utilizing the Louisiana pantry. In its first year MOPHO was nominated for America's Best New Restaurant by Bon Appétit magazine and named Restaurant of the Year by New Orleans Magazine. In 2016 Michael was named one of Top 30 Chefs to Watch in the nation by Plate Magazine, A New Orleans Rising Star by Starchefs, a Best New Chef by Food & Wine magazine, and Chef of the Year by New Orleans Magazine. In 2017, his team opened its second full-service restaurant, Maypop, in the Central Business District of New Orleans. Maypop was named a Top 5 Best New Restaurant by The Times Picayune, A Best New Restaurant by New Orleans Magazine, a New Orleans Top 20 Restaurants by Condé Nast Traveler, and a New Orleans' Top Ten Restaurants for 2019, by Brett Anderson. Michael has also been a semifinalist for The James Beard Awards Best Chef South for the past four years. Most recently, his team opened a second MOPHO location in the new Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. On my trip to New Orleans this past May, I was saddened to learn that Michael was closing MoPho and Maypop, casualties of the so difficult business of owning a restaurant I know all too well. After JazzFest one evening on MoPho's second to last day, Pat and I went to pay our respects and I got to thank Michael for his kindness showing me there was culinary life after my diagnosis not only at his restaurant but when he catered the main stage at JazzFest, but he also introduced me to more fusion possibilities which I have incorporated in some of the food I make. On the last day of Maypop, my brother Jeff and I dined at Maypop, Michael's more upscale joint which served delicious food and not to be undone, after both closed on that Sunday in May, I saw the MoPho at the airport right in front of my terminal to fly home and I got the greatest wings on the planet to fly home with: CRISPY CHICKEN WINGS WITH NUOC MAM CARAMEL. I have no idea what exactly that is except Cajun chicken spices with a Vietnamese caramel sauce that is unparalleled in it's flavor, bite and marriage of cultures that was so good Pat would always ask for more on the side. I'm sure Michael will get back in the game at some point but I write this with gratitude to Pat for introducing me to this great Chef and to Chef Gulotta for taking the time to show me what I could eat and what modifications he could make to his food for me.
