We called ahead as we live 125 miles from the nearest branch and we're told that no income verification was required for a personal loan. Just to be on the safe side we took along our last tax return and W2 statements. Our credit scores are well over 800, our income is high and we have little debt. Despite what we were told prior to going to the bank once we were there we were told we would be required to produce our retirement award letters (a document I received 11 years ago) to be approved for the loan. This resulted in a wasted trip, a wasted day, the loss of the opportunity to purchase the vehicle (seller opted for another purchaser that could deliver payment sooner) and considerable frustration.
