Given my love of photography, my wife put me in charge of finding the perfect photographer for our wedding. We interviewed A LOT of respectable photographers along the Gulf Coast and reviewed just about everyone's portfolio in detail. I could not have been happier with our decision. Tammy and Jason have this down to a true art. Tammy has a lot of fun with the babies and making them smile while Jason is scanning the group to make sure people are visible and in flattering positions. They do it so seamlessly. Our formal portraits were a blast! They are so engaging and fun for all three events they did for us. You can tell this is not just a job for them, but they live and love this life. Their equipment is also top notch. Between the cameras (and backup cameras), the lighting, and their comm system they will not only take great pictures, but help you and the coordinator to make sure your wedding is PERFECT. Their price is very fair. They are not the cheapest, but they are the best. When your wedding is over and you are sharing stories with your growing family, the photos is what you will have. It have always been friends, family, or someone we found on fb for a mini session. I'm so glad to have found this company, Wave Photo by Aislinn Kate. They are so friendly and down to earth. We did arrive about 10-12 minutes late, which was totally unprofessional of us as well, but Catherine was super accommodating. I called on the way to the studio to let them know of our late arrival and she just made me feel so special. We literally took our photo session on August 3rd and was expecting 2-3 weeks for the edited photos to be ready. But Catherine sent me an email today, August 8th, that the photos are ready! Which is amazingly fast, efficient, and they all turned out beautiful. They are so amazing at being able to make your vision come to life! I showed Catherine a couple of my photo inspirations and the team really hit it out of the park. It felt really nice and special for their extra touches here and there to make sure the background is want we wanted. I really could not ask for a better photographer and company. We plan to continue having this company for our future photography needs (Christmas, maternity, newborn, family, Lunar New Year). We're just excited to have memories captured to forever cherish. She was great with the family as a whole, and did a great job with the photos. Overall, we were pleased with her work. I gave her a lower score because I felt like she was not necessarily savvy when it came to technology. For example, we had to deliver a cashier's check at the beginning instead of being able to use many of the numerous online payment methods. That method of payment definitely favors her but not the consumer. I feel as if she could have received her money and ensured payment through Paypal, and would have cut down on the inconvenience of getting a cashier's check on our end. Secondly, she uses Smugmug photo site (expensive!). It's a great and secure site for photographers, but it's not not good for consumers (not much integration with social apps or other picture sites). I believe she gets a percentage of photos developed through their service because she discouraged us from using other sites like Walgreens, Costco because of apparently diminished quality. You might get away with saying that ten years ago but really not today. Sure, Smugmug delivers a lot of great packages and does awesome large portrait pictures, but we just wanted photos to pass around and maybe get a few framed. I asked about her uploading files to Walgreens, Costco and we would use her approval letter to get them developed, but she didn't respond to those requests. Thirdly, the watermarks. Her watermarks largely obscure the photos in Smugmug. She said it was because of other photographers stealing her work, but Smugmug included tight security that disabled the ability to download or save pictures to other media. It's also a flash site, so it was very hard to access from an iPad or iPhone. Tonya's prices are low and she does a great job, but be prepared to shell out a lot of money for Smugmug photos if you can't wait to get the cd of pictures in the mail. Happily, we received our photos on three separate cds with letters of approval for development. I would recommend Tonya if you are looking at someone who is professional and a good photographer, but not concerned about viewing pictures on your computer, iPad or sharing with friends over email. If you are like me and my family, we love to look at most of our pictures on our computer devices and sometimes get them developed, but this is not as common with us, and I imagine most people today. Fortunately, she delivered high-quality photos on cds so we got the product we wanted eventually.

Tonya did a wonderful job of setting up the shots, corralling the folks who were excited by the sand and water, and those that tended to wander. She gave clear directions on how to reach the site, and made excellent suggestions as to what to wear. She even made modifications for one of our group who was mobility impaired. We had problems with our mail delivery system which caused us to fail to receive our discs with our images. Tonya went the extra mile to set up our gallery so that we could download our pictures. She never lost patience with our many questions, with our mail problems, or with the extra work she had to do to get our photographs to us. And after all of that, our images were excellent. So nice to have our memories for future reference. Tonya, you made me smile. Thank you.

Her prices are high, her service is shit, only half of the photos were usable and the other half were missing some really major moments- not a single bridal or groom solo!!! Arrived 30 minutes late to the reception and the entrace included fireworks and she said "someone should have told me"- I told you by telling you what time to arrive like WHAT?? Zero outreach, communication was always from me, she canceled our engagement photo session after we had already booked tickets and hotels and scheduled all of our other wedding appointments around since we were flying in from California- zero attempts to reschedule, zero apologies, zero engagement photos for the wedding. I mean there was no lack of trying to blame everything on us- we are across the country! Every single shot her second shooter took had to be tossed. They were so embarrassing and beyond amateur. You will see her best work on her site so I will add some of the ones she doesn't show you later on if I can bring myself to. The few pictures we got from Lacey that we liked were great! But there was so many mis-steps, the worst communication and just a terrible overall experience. Please do not hesitate to contact me I could go on and on but every time I think about this experience it truly upsets me to the extent that we still have never printed a wedding book because we don't have enough photos to fill in the story- not a single food photo, no photos of our lovely center pieces, no bridesmaids dresses, we arranged a lovely gift bag for all the guests I wanted photographed but the shitty second shooter got her hands on those so total moot, she was also in charge of the groom/groomsman getting ready so no suit photos.... take my word for it there are sooooooo many great photographers out there and I thought I had done my due diligence so when I had red flags I kept ignoring them but I should have canceled her the moment she nonchalantly canceled out engagement shoot.

She brought Lacey as her associate/assistant photographer for the day. How lucky were we to have 2 great photographers?! I'm not quite positive which specific images were edited by which photographer, but Lacey posted one image on her Instagram account, and I absolutely loved it - the colors, light, the moment - just perfect. (I'm sure that specific photo had to be her editing). Overall, Lacey's sweet and calm demeanor kept me at ease on the day of the wedding; she was a pleasure to communicate with afterwards; and the photos are just beautiful and captured the spirit of the best day of our lives. We'll be sure to reach out for those maternity, baby, and family portraits in the future! NOLA is lucky to have you, Lacey, but we hope you'll maintain your business on the west coast when you're in SF :)

Keep in mind that the photographer is the one who cancelled our session. But still felt fine about keeping half of our money. They did offer a credit for a future session. But we live 10 hours away and can't get our whole family back next year. So would've preferred to just get a full refund. The men in our family were gonna do a fishing charter and the fishing guides were canceling fishing trips all week because of the weather. My dad got his money back for that! I guess photography doesn't work the same. Also beware if you leave a negative review, she will have her friends come on and make insults at you. And also leave fake reviews to cover yours up. And then she will argue with you. The whole thing is unbelievable.
