This is the place you want to stop on your road trip. This is it. The whole restaurant is open air, with a gorgeous panoramic view of the marsh. Unfriendly customer service tone set by management. Chef's maybe had a bad night but didn't get 3 of our orders right. I'll explain, because the location and design (atmosphere) are fantastic: Burger asked for medium-well came medium rare, son couldn't eat it so we asked them to cook it some more, they took plate away with fries, came back without fries, so son ate burger by itself. My famed garlic steamed shrimp were overdone, dry and not fresh (as in having been unfrozen after a long time) and hence the taste was very bland and missing. Another dish, the oysters with Parmesan and garlic, I'd avoid, it's not the Louisiana-style on the shelf but oysters in a sort of watery broth covered by a thick cheese melt. The oysters lack any texture or seasoning, look boiled and taste as much, very briny. Waitress was very nice but as my wife showed her the suspect dish she explained she couldn't take it off as 'they' would charge her for it...again we paid and left waitress a tip for obvious reason, not her fault; chef and management clearly can do better. By the way, when you show up, have all of your people present unless you want to deal with the attitude of the elderly lady at the front...and make reservations, otherwise -"I can't tell you what the wait time will be," Too bad, I sound so negative, wish you can see my other reviews which are overwhelmingly positive. Not to throw anymore stones, but felt sick once home, from the food quality. Not going back, and as others said, limited menu. This place can improve A LOT by doing 2 things: hire a better chef that gets dishes to taste good and improve friendliness of service. Easy. Hope this review is taken constructively. read more

Limited menu but beautiful atmosphere. Right on the water with nothing but the sounds and river in sight. The place it's self looks like you're pulling into an abandoned building, definitely in need of a little updating especially on the outside. It has so much potential. Menu could use a few more items like steamed oysters, (haven't seen them on the menu in about year) crab legs and maybe a seafood Alfredo or something similar. I'd really like to update this based on the bartender, Kendra who has delivered less than par service MANY times. She never smiles and is overly rude to me. My fiance and I went in one evening and tried to sit at the bar and have a drink while we were waiting..Kendra promptly let us know that her bar was for single people only. Tonight, I was in with a military squad in which I wanted to surprise them with dinner and drinks (told my waitress) yet come bill time, Kendra came and plopped down the bill in the middle of the table ...all the while my table had nothing to do with her. Worth the ride whether it's by boat or car! One of my favorite restaurants as it has an awesome view and the atmosphere matches it! The food is fresh caught and you can taste the difference, whether it is the crab, shrimp or catch of the day or one of their freshly made sides. We were thinking of going with friends yesterday by boat which is only 15 minutes from my house (I can actually see the marina from my house), but the wind was pretty fierce today so my wife and I opted to drive the 35-40 minutes and as usual, it did not disappoint. We had initially wanted the crabs (which can be caught within sight of the restaurant), but they were short staffed and we opted to split a garlic shrimp appetizer and the fried shrimp and oyster combo. The peel it yourself garlic shrimp come boiled and drenched in garlic butter. The combo's shrimp are delicious, lightly fried and oysters plump and tender. We picked one of their freshly made sides going with one of our favorites, the stewed okra and tomatoes which is comes with rice and is flavored with bacon. We went with fresh creamed corn as the other side, so good! Service is and was friendly and attentive. This place is hard to beat as it is open air and you feel like you are an island restaurant in the Caribbean. There are great views of the Medway River and Georgia's coastal marshes that you will remember a long time after your visit. You can walk down to the marina and soak up some of sun and enjoy that salty breeze coming off the ocean that can be seen in the distance... Need I go on. My only regret was there were no crabs today. Food 5 stars - Fresh and simple and well prepared, this is not gourmet but very good. Atmosphere - 5 stars - You would be hard pressed to beat the view anywhere and the restaurant interior and exterior makes you soak it all in. There is often live music in the evenings as well. Service - 4 stars - Friendly and attentive as you are made to feel at home. Price - 4 stars - It is a good value for your money, with the view and coastal atmosphere. We made an online reservation on the same day that we went there. It is very casual, open-air dining, fairly small dining area and very small bar as far as seating goes, but we sat at a high top table in the main dining area it had plenty of room for two people. The view was very pleasant, the waitress very nice, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was delectable, we had the seafood platter which comes with a piece of corn and a sausage. Prices are on the higher side, but the food and experience are worth it. It is a kind of Jimmy-buffet style atmosphere, and there some wall mounted tvs in the main dining area and the view is right over the marshes. Yes, bathrooms are tiny and it's kind of an older style building that could use some updates but that is not why you go to the place, for the decor. The only issue I can think of might be that for the price, if you happen to have teenage boys or a gigantic appetite, you may end up spending quite a bit to get filled up. My fiancé has a huge appetite and we split the seafood platter initially, but ended up getting another half pound of shrimp and another piece of corn and sausage because he was not full after we had finished the seafood platter, which altogether with three drinks each totaled out at just over $100. But it was worth it, food was incredible, we will be going back! read more

1.5 hour wait for food to be brought from ordering. Food is entirely under seasoned, not even salt was in the breading. For a crab company, they lack crab options. I was amazed that they only had one crab option on the menu. Should change name to Sunbury Seafood Company instead. Also, the place needs redone bad. I doubt they are up to code. The food and service were great. However, when my bill arrived, I felt like I had been 'nickeled and dimed' by several surprise charges. 1 melted butter = $0.50. 1 glass of ice water = $1.00. Who charges for melted butter and ice water? At the bottom of my bill was 'surcharge' for $1.73. Reading the fine print on the invoice revealed that if you don't pay in cash and use a card, you will be charged a 3.99% 'surcharge'. I've never seen that before in my life. The food and service were great, but I can only give them 4 stars due to all the surprise fees. read more

We visited this place somewhat by accident. We were traveling back home and passed most of the restaurants we could see. We googled something close by and this came up. We were a little skeptical at first but once we arrived we were thrilled to have found something local and unique. The location is very lovely on the coast. I have had snow crab before and didn't realize that they had blue crab here before i ordered a bucket of crab for $12, which i thought was a steal. I was surprised when they brought out the mallet to get into the crab. My husband ordered the fried oysters and enjoyed them. The ambiance is fantastic. I think the menu overall (aside from crab) is a bit overpriced, but we enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to our next visit. read more

We had a reservation. When we arrived we were asked if we would like to sit at the bar or at a little table in the far back squished next to a party of like 15 or so. We chose the bar and were thankful that the hostess gave us that option. The bar's view is not very nice and we were cramped but it was still a better option than the first table. There was a another table that had just menus on it when we arrived. When we left 1.5 hours later, it still had menus on it and a couple was being seated at it. The food... I ordered fish tacos. There was a piece of fish in it as thin as my ring finger, which is a size 4.75. The flavor was really good. It just had almost no fish in either fish taco. All I could taste was the sauce and cabbage. The side of greens was absolutely yummy! My husband's steak was over cooked (not a ton, he ordered medium, it was a solid medium well) and so tough that his jaw was sore when we left. His fries were delicious. The food took quite a while to come out so we didn't want to send it back. We were hungry. The cocktails were delicious!! But we didn't go for cocktails and fries. We went for good food and a view. Neither of which we got. Sadly, we won't be back. Our experience was a solid 2-star experience. But I'm giving it 3 because if the table was better, it could have made up for the disappointing food. read more

Wow! On a super long drive back to FL and cruising through GA, I hit YELP on my phone to look for some seafood... figuring since I was near the coast n' all. Up came Sunbury..."long drive in"..."out of the way"....PERFECT! Drove a very bumpy SUNBURY Road to get there.... don't take it. Take the main road to the end instead. Menu is small which is ALWAYS good. Fried shrimp, oysters and fish. OK THEN!!! I got the fried oyster appetizer... being a little leery that it's not an "R" month... and you shouldn't ingest oysters. Home cut fries as well. While waiting for my order, I got a cocktail...which was made PERFECTLY by an adorable and sassy southern brunette. "you want that in a to go cup honey so you can enjoy the view?" Why, yes, yes I do. I stood and looked at the beautiful meandering waterways of Georgia from their deck and waited for my food. As i walked out to may car.... adorable young southern boys said "hello ma'am...how are you today?" Yes, southern charm indeed. I got into the car....and drove. On the road...I took one of the oysters and put it in my mouth....... SWEET BABY JEEEEZUS!!! BEST fried oysters I ever had!!! Why oh why did I only get the appetizer??!?!? Fortunately, the fries sealed the deal and filled me up. UPDATE: Well as usual... when a place gets great reviews, someone screws it up. What happened to my sassy brunette? Replaced by a personality free blonde that can barely muster up the bother of looking up.... as did the hostess. Now our food... the shrimp my guy ordered was not battered... just flour and dropped in oil. Yuk! $15??? My oysters were fresh but few maybe 10 and some fried particulates for the $18 and my side of slaw was a 1/3 filled. The new menu was disappointing and there's no oyster or shrimp Po Boy. This out of the way restaurant is worth a trip out this way. Such friendly, helpful staff and a view worth just sitting and taking in. Superb sea food and the best black eyed peas I've ever had. Stop at Fort Morris on the way and learn the history then come here to visit Brittney and the rest of the fine staff for some excellent seafood and ambiance... and the beer is cold!! The ONLY negative is the parking situation for handicapped. There is no designated parking and the parking lot is gravel. read more
