no payne roofing installed shingles and replaced some flashing on our home in sept of 2020. in sept…read moreof 2021 there was a major leak when it rained. mike sent his employee to repair it and i believe it worked for a while until it started leaking in the exact same spot again in may of 2024. mike sent employees multiple times to try and fix the issue but they did not and the roof continued to leak every time it rained from may 2024 to the end of july 2024 when i hired another roofing company that actually fixed the roof. now it has rained multiple times and there has been no issue. i also received a report from the roofer i hired that outlines what the issue was and that it was a result of the poor workmanship of no payne roofing. the tenants had the hastle of living in a home that leaks and has big hole in the celing and a leaking roof for 3 months. the full repair was completed on aug 1, 2024 we bought the house in 2014 and there were zero leaks in the roof anywhere we had the roof replaced and it leaked less than a year later then again in the exact same spot. i repaired the ceiling the first time at my expense and was not compensated for it but i let it go but this time mike payne has refused to be reasonable and repair his mistakes. he has constantly blamed the leak on windows that have never leaked. the windows have condensation on them when it is cold but the only time there was wather pouring from the ceiling was when it was raining and that stopped as soon as i had the new roofer fix the roof. they did not touch the windows and there has been a lot of rain since it was repaired and there has been zero issues. also the window sils are completely dry now and when water was pouring out of the ceiling so it is not possible for the problem to be the windows. i have receipts, photos, video and a report proving no payne roofing was negligent and did not install the roof properly which resulted in the leak and damage.

The job was done just like we asked except for when the tires on our vehicles started to go flat. 9 nails in 2 tires!! 9. Not 1 or 2, hell I could even understand 3 nails but 9! The response we received from Juan the owner was not I am sorry or how can I help. It was " so do you expect me to pay for your tires? After I did you a favour and only charged for materials ". We didn't ask for money I just asked how he would like to proceed, considering the circumstance. Job big or small shouldn't matter. Stand behind your mistakes and don't try to put it on the customer. Did I put the roofing nails on the ground in the place I park? I think not. There are many roofing companies that claim to be better then the rest, but if that is the case this job would have cost me what it cost me, not the work + a brand new set of tires.

Our neighbour initially hired a different contractor who charged over 5k to fix the roof, but a horrible job. They came back several times, but really had no clue how to fix it. We then had Craig at Allied Roofing come in and climb on the roof. He immediately knew what to do and offered a solid solution to repair and waterproof the roof including building a cricket to re-slope the roof and using SBS membrane with a torch, not just replacing shingles. Craig knows his craft and did an excellent job on our roof. They're not an big outfit nor have a shiny truck, but they're a reliable and dependable roofing contractor.

They were not the cheapest quote but they committed to hitting the timelines required to have the work completed before I moved in. Long story short they missed the deadline by nearly a month, did not truthfully communicate project status resulting in increased safety risk for my movers and increased costs to me, the quality of work was lower than expected as I had to request that they finish scope of work that was missed multiple times (and was never completed). And, the most concerning issue is that Alberta OHS shut them down for over a week due to worker safety concerns. They did attempt to make me whole by offering a discount on the project, which covered my additional costs. I appreciate the organization attempt to make this right. However, I would caution working with this organization if there is a potential to increase safety risk to other contractors or you need effective project management to hit specific timelines. I would also encourage future customers to ask a few more questions on their worker safety protocols before hiring Building Works.
