Other than that, this place is horrible. They are super disorganized with the medication, at one point missing my mom's Parkinson's medication. Their technology and method of tracking the medication given is archaic. If you have any family members here who take meds, I would be worried. When calling for assistance from the nurse, I waited 20 minutes till they showed up. At night, when my mom would call to get her pamper changed, they would take hours. One night, my mom cried herself to sleep because they never came and she was peed- dehumanizing. The patients who sleep here and wear pampers do not get changed at night. The older lady who roomed with my mom would wake up with her back drenched in urine and it was so bad it would stink up the room. If you are looking for a nursing home or rehab center, please go elsewhere.

The staff in general is very professional and treat patients and caregivers like family, Nice people answer the phone and address your calls in the best way, nurses, physicians ,therapists, assistants and also clerical staff are always willing to give you an answer to any question or concern. I was initially going to stay for like 7 days and the owner Ms. M, said for the procedure I was having I'd honestly only need about 4 days she could have easily took my money for those few extra days but she didn't! I knew from there she was a person with integrity! She is very experienced and accommodating, I literally changed my surgery day twice which led to me changing my flight info and the dates of my stay, and Ms. M was sooooo understanding. When I got there the environment was very inviting. She keeps the house very clean and washed my clothes like 4 times during my short stay. The food was very satisfying and she was very flexible with our meal times, taking into account the time of our post op appointments. I really commend her professionalism and attentiveness when caring for me and the rest of the ladies. Definitely a 10/10 experience. She's really one of one!!!

My Experience at TLC Nova Recovery House…read more I chose TLC Nova because of the promises made in their written agreement. Unfortunately, many of those promises were not honored during my stay. I have the signed agreement, text messages, receipts, and other documentation supporting the statements in this review. I booked my stay months in advance. A few days before my surgery, my airline changed my flight, so I contacted the owner to let her know I would be arriving one day earlier. I asked whether my contracted private room would be available or if I should book a hotel. Instead of honoring our agreement, I was given a completely different address. When I questioned the change, I was told that my room had already been rented to someone else. I asked that the original agreement be honored, but was told that if I wasn't happy with the change, I could cancel my reservation just days before my surgery. Traveling from another state for a major operation, canceling at that point simply wasn't a realistic option. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. Throughout my two-week stay, several services and accommodations that were promised in writing were either not provided or were delivered differently than represented. One of the biggest disappointments was the overall cleanliness of the house. The common areas and bathrooms were not cleaned consistently, and the level of sanitation was far below what I expected from a recovery facility caring for post-operative patients. After surgery, a clean environment is not a luxury--it's essential. The food was another major issue. Meals were extremely repetitive, and I was served chicken for both lunch and dinner for five consecutive days. Much of the food appeared to be reheated from previous meals and served again. After major surgery, proper nutrition plays an important role in healing, and I expected much better quality and variety. One of my biggest concerns involved my prescriptions. I was told it would take five days to obtain them, that they would cost between $250 and $350, and that I had to pay by cash or Zelle because the pharmacy supposedly would not accept insurance. Instead, I had them transferred to Walgreens, where they were filled using my insurance for approximately $19. Before booking, I was told there would be approximately one caregiver for every three patients. During my stay, there were times when one caregiver was responsible for four fresh post-operative patients while working around the clock for multiple days. Regardless of how caring or hardworking that caregiver was, I do not believe one person can safely provide the level of attention four surgical patients require. Transportation was also not what I expected. In practice, it often consisted of calling an Uber. Whether I received any assistance getting in or out of the vehicle depended entirely on the driver. After major surgery, I expected a higher level of support. The most frightening moment of my stay happened when I began choking while eating. Because I had recently undergone a tummy tuck, I didn't have the strength to cough effectively. The caregiver present did not know how to respond appropriately, and another patient ultimately stepped in to help me. That experience was terrifying. Recovery after major surgery is stressful enough. After paying thousands of dollars for post-operative care, I expected the environment to reduce that stress--not add to it. I stayed at TLC Nova for two weeks, so these were not isolated incidents or first impressions. This review reflects my personal experience. If you're considering staying here, I strongly encourage you to read your contract carefully, keep every communication in writing, and verify exactly which services will actually be provided before making your decision.

I was nervous since I had never done something like this before and it seemed like a pretty big deal to me. I then texted the same number Friday, Feb 23rd to let her know I was still coming. I arrived on Sunday, February 25th one day before my procedure. That morning before my plane took off I again texted her to let her know that I was on my way and what time my plane would land. I also verified the address of the recovery house. (which is the address that is stated here on Yelp and several other places online, a place about 10-15min away from Miami Airport) I was told they have personal drivers but the car that picked me up at the airport was an Uber driver. He confirmed the address with me and I had to call Yaite because our addresses didn't match. The house he took me to was at 13147 SW 284th St Homestead, FL. Look it up, it is about 1hr and 10min (south) from the airport. (if you are lucky and traffic isn't crazy) The drive over there was an ordeal in itself. You start to panic a bit since you all you start seeing at some point is rows and rows of palm trees. I was already on edge about the change of location and how far it was-it would have been nice to have been told the ACTUAL address instead of just saying yes when I sent the Miami address. The house itself is really nice and clean. No complaints there. The house has 2 bathrooms and 3 rooms. 2 rooms with 2 beds apiece and the other room has 4 beds in it. You quickly figure out that if someone gets breast implants or a tummy tuck they are gonna be in the living in a recliner. Which wouldn't be so bad except that I can't imagine being able to get rest with all the lights getting turned on at all hours of the day. Once I got there Elena was the true beacon of my stay. She immediately took me in and started on the task of feeding me. She was very attentive and I could tell I would be in good hands once my procedure happened her attentiveness is what convinced me to stay. The day wore on and drama started happening. One of the ladies there somehow got into it with Elena and Elena decided she had enough and wanted to leave. (crazy, I know) I tried to focus on the reason I was there and stayed in my room. That's another thing, depending on how considerate your roommate is determines some of the comfort. My first night there my roommate turned on the light at 3am to get ready and made all kinds of noise. The first night after my surgery she turned it on around 4am and I wasn't able to fall asleep again. With Elena gone Marilady (spelling?) the lady who is the owner stayed periodically to take care of us and cook. They replaced Elena with Marlene. She did a great job being a caretaker. Everything else was questionable. My surgery ended at 11:45am. The recovery house was informed I was ready and I wasn't picked up for a long time. Around 2pm I couldn't handle the pain anymore so I called myself. I was told the driver was very near. At 3pm a driver arrived. My nurse was very angry since it seemed like they had sent a random (clueless) Uber driver to come pick me up. No blankets/pillows etc. He just wanted me to lay face first on the back seat of his tiny 4 door. My nurse wouldn't release me and angrily called Marilady informing her she had to come pick me up herself. Keep in mind that I am going back and forth into the building with no PAIN MEDS. Finally at 4pm I was picked up. I screamed and cried the whole hour back to the recovery house. We got there at 5pm and I was so angry and in pain that they ended up giving me some Percocets. (never figured out where they came from and honestly at that moment I didn't care) I demanded they fill my prescriptions and at first they wanted to pacify me by saying they would do it "later" since they had already given me pain medication. I put my foot down and by 8:30pm I had my meds. That was the recurring theme the whole week I was there by the way. There were ladies who literally waited OVERNIGHT to get their pain pills after their procedures. They only have one driver and that poor man can't possibly drop off/pick up patients AND fill prescriptions in a timely manner. We helped each other out and lended out pain pills to the ladies who were in pain because their prescriptions hadn't been filled. The meals that were made were delicious and homemade but there were a few days where we ate late and a meal or 2 I made on my own. Some of us were taken care of in terms of being helped to the restroom and others that weren't. They have a massage therapist (Marilady's mom) that comes to do the lymphatic massages in house. That was convenient and the lady is really nice but recovery houses closer to all the plastic surgery centers and IN Miami also offer that service. There were pluses but all the negatives (disorganization being a HUGE factor) is the reason for the sub par review.

My surgery date was May 9 2018 (bbl) I confirmed the day before on when my surgery time was. They were also called when I was done surgery. When I woke up the driver was already there waiting for me. Ladies the drive back is a little long. I was in agony but... not pain where I was crying. When I got to the house I was helped by the driver and one of the care takers and taken to my room. I was very fortunate to have a room to myself for 3.5 days. When I arrived my bed was ready with adult pads so you do not need to purchase them. My night table had a bowl of fruit, a bag of saltine crackers, a bottle of water, and a bottle of Gatorade. Make sure you have your ID, money or debit and insurance card. I was helped on the bed. Which was also very comfy. It took about a 1.5 hours for my medication to get filled and brought to me. After I finally got my meds I was good to go. Throughout your time there you will meet 3-4 care takers as they are on different shifts. They were all AMAZING. They always checked up on me. They helped me with everything I needed. They were extremely patient. We all had great conversations. I loved them. They made me great meals. I have no complaints. I booked this place very nervously because the nasty reviews people left. I just said f it. I can afford this place. I was pleasantly surprised and would recommend this recovery home to anyone. Also the house is beautiful on the water. There was ducks and momma ducks and baby ducks around the property. So effing cute lol
