This is my second review on Sunny Hills Post Acute. My father stayed here for about three months. He asked me to leave the feedback on his Nurse- Lisa, Staff- Karina, Emily, Diane, CNA, Otto, etc. They worked very hard to help the patients. The therapists were great in helping my father to recover. Again, they are not perfect, may check the patients more frequently to prevent them in wet diaper, etc. But overall, they are the best nursing home compared to the other facilities nearby. My father was discharged to go home last week under the order of his doctor. My family appreciate the services from Sunny Hills! read more

So not use this facility. It smells of feces, the air conditioner doesn't work (it only works nice for the people in the front, not the patients rooms). The care in this hospital is not set up for pain management. The patient (even though most of the time isnt coherent enough to speak for themselves) has to pretty much has to ask for things and have to wait hours before they can even get it. Its ridiculous how they run the facility. I understand, understaffed facilities can only do so much, but it is the facilities job to be able to perform responsible routine care and manage the pain and distribute life saving, required medication. No matter the number of staff. They have no problem taking our money, so the patients should get the care they need with the money this facility is scamming them out of. read more

Facility was a great help to my mother who was at Sunny hills. Crystal the DON answered all my questions and cna's were all very helpful!

My mom was at this facility for 6 weeks. This facility has a great nursing staff, the LVNs and CNAs provide the best care possible with the resources available to them. We have no complaints on the service and attention provided during the day shift (7:00am - 3:00pm) or the evening shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm); however, the night shift (11:00pm - 7:00am) does need more supervision and some changes as occasionally they forget to assign CNAs to check on the residents during the night or the CNAs don't seem to care as much as the ones on the other shifts. My mom needed some physical and occupational therapy for her recovery. The therapists at this facility are first class and my mom made a lot of progress. The therapists were very patient and not only pushed my mom to make progress but they also listened to her which is important. The administrative staff is very present and always check on the patients letting them know they are seen and heard. Whenever we had a concern, the staff made sure it was addressed immediately and they had great follow up. The case managers working with the insurance and doctors are great at communicating with the patient and family, making sure my mom was getting the care she needed. The receptionists are very friendly and make you, and other visitors feel welcome and comfortable. The reason I only rated 4 stars instead on 5 is because: Meals provided leave a lot to be desired Night shift staff needs a lot of improvement It is important to note that during my mom's stay at this facility we ensured that a family member was with her as much as possible during visiting hours (8:00am-8:00pm) and we brought in all meals for her most of the time . Having said that, if needed, we would definitely choose this facility for temporary 24/7 care. read more

I feel terrible that I did not post this sooner. My mom recovered there from a broken hip and has been home about two months now. I would give Sunny Hills five stars, but for something that occurred that was definitely not the best. My mom waited for several hours to be changed. There's no call system to get a nurse so she sat in soiled pants for a long time. Definitely not OK. I know if one of the nurses had been aware of this they would have taken care of her right away. I know they're also understaffed. The staff works so incredibly hard to take good care of the patients and residents there. The staff (nursing and front desk) and physical therapists there are absolutely wonderful, particularly the director, Stacey. She contacted us about the wait my mom had to be changed, and not only took responsibility, she checked in every day with my mom to make sure she was OK. Is the facility old and a little tired looking? Yes. Is it clean and staffed by people that care? Yes. They really do genuinely care and we are all so appreciative for everything they did for Mom. read more

Just wanted to drop a note to let everyone know my experience with this facility. My siblings and I are extremely pleased with the care being provided to my 97-year old mother. As you can imagine a 97-year does not like change but she has adjusted well and loves the staff here. The attention she receives is both professional and personal. Kaiser sent me there for rehab after having surgery. They are understaffed and sometimes you have to wait 1-2 hours or more to have your soiled diaper changed. Because of that I developed a sore on my coccyx. Did not have much contact with my case manager who was suppose to represent Sunny Hill's Kaiser patients. Shame on Kaiser for sending their patients there. I had a long stay due to continually catching C-Diff and other problems. Really lonely in isolation, my only bright moments were the times I spent with my nurses Brenda and Tim, they were wonderful. While there I opened up a claim referring to abuse from another nurse. It was quickly squashed and admin sided with the nurse.I can not recommend this SNF to anyone. read more

I found the rating on this site quiet questionable. My husband brought in for Rehab due to fall. People who know me know I can be picky and in what I observed coming into the facility frequently to visit my husband I could not be one nor my friends who came to visit my husband be so astonished at how clean, attentive every staff member be to visitors and always extended themselves to assure that my husband as well as my needs were attended to. The staff goes beyond to be friendly offering any assistance. The times my husband asked for things he did not have to wait long. The Case Manager, Rehab Manager and Nurse Director as well as facility manager who could ask to have any better. I understand that no place is perfect, yet this place is near perfect. So clean, and staff, all staff, go out of their way to accommodate the needs of my husband and I. All therapist were great. Clean,Clean,Clean be this facility. Thank all, Case Manager Karina Ferguson, Josephine Nurse Director, Diane Rehab Director, the front desk employees so great. Though at times the noise can get a little loud that can be hard to control, truly, when you leave a loved one in such care, one does not need to worry for one knows they are in good hands. Here it is the next day and Stephanie calls from the center to see how things are going. I shared my compliments and praises for how their facility works and my admiration for how the staff extends themselves to be caring and seeking to meet the needs of the patients. All their staff, Case Manager, Rehab Manager, Director of Nurses, OC and PT therapists, Nursing staff, maintenance workers and any those I may have missed thank you so much. They do an exemptional job more than I believe I've ever experienced with my husband being as he be. a friend was in this facility when I walked in the facility it smelled sooo bad of poop, when I visited a friend she said to me I rang the bell because she pooped and needed to be changed they said when I come back from break I'll change you, ok so I came back an hour later still in poop I couldn't believe how long they leave them in poop so sad I know it was at least 2hrs because they start at 1 end of the facility then to the other. they need another team just for changing them. read more

My father was suppose to enter this "rehab facility" he was being discharged from Kaiser , he was transferred but our family went way in advance to meet him there . After asking and waiting for him to arrive we were told hi still hadn't , good thing we had his room # we decided to go check out the room and He had been in his room for more than an hour . The place smelled bad and the whole place looked a mess people all over the place , screaming . We discharged him right away . His words were" if you leave me here I won't be back home sane! He was already dealing with delirium. The fact that they kept telling he was there yet but he was shows you home much they do t care for their patients . read more

This place is a JOKE!!!! I don't even know how they are able to stay open. They left my brothers IV in his arm when he was discharged, he's diabetic, they couldn't mange and take care of him properly sent him home with a blood sugar that was over 400. So he had to go back to the ER , 3 hrs after he was discharged. The quality of care is horrible there is no quality in the care. Understaffed and overworked staff horrible Medicare sent him here Don't let you loved ones come here. read more

This facility is HORRIBLE from the administration to the head Nurses that just sit at the desk and don't do nothing. My Brother was her for a stroke to do his rehabilitation, I for one never met any of the nurses that was talking care of him. Had to wait over 30 minutes every time me needed care and when you go find someone it seem like they was mad. I would never recommend the place to nobody. They sent him home and blamed the insurance company and when he was discharged they tried to let and non English CNA discharge him to me. No one was there to guild me on step for his new care, Basically the let him go with no follow up routine. They never set up him physical therapy or speech therapy and to this day no one returns calls. Had to do all the leg work by myself, not knowing how to care for a stroke patient. Please if you love your family and friends DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. read more

Poor care. Everything you request has to wait over 2 hours. Care quality - CNA comes in to help you and rush everything to get out fast then disappear at least for 2 hours I am diabetic on their list and my food is listed as more veg and less carb. however every meal is full of carb. the kitchen does not care what you want just give you what they have. I ask for salad and got the answer that they don't have lettuce in the kitchen. CNAs are nice in the way that everything you asked is "ok I'll get right now" then left and won't be back till after 2 hours. The above are facts with no exaggeration!! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I don't know where to start. First, my mother was transferred here by her surgeon, he told our family my father would be able to stay with my mother while she stayed here for rehab, according to him, he had made arrangements. Upon arrival, they advised us that he cannot stay the night unless he was a patient, but that they would make an exception for one night, they let my 80 year old father sleep on a plastic party chair. Second, my mothers room, the entire facility, did not have any air conditioning. They were using Home Depot utility fans in the hall way, while their patients suffered through heat. Third, my mothers room did not have anywhere for her ti place her belongings. No tray table for her food. No TV and no phone. There wasn't a nurse in site, the CNAs we're running the show but they were so understaffed. My mom did not have anyone come see her for 6 hours! No medicine, ni food, no diaper change. NOTHING. I had to change my mothers diaper (which I don't mind). I finally found the RN in charge and when I asked to see her medicine sheet, it was outdated and she was getting ready to give my mom medicine that she is allergic to. My mom is also diabetic and they gave her high sugar foods! Lastly, they are fraud. They were trying to have us pay for my moms transportation because according to them Medicare did not cover. When I called Medicare they advised me that they most definitely cover their transportation and are also now filing a case with them. This place is horrible! They will not care for your loved ones, so many of them were crying about a soiled diaper. Their restrooms were disgusting and full of mold. Please do not bring your loved ones here. read more

I have never posted a review but if I could help anyone else from going through the hardship that we went through this is why I am posting this. do not send your loved one here! negative 10 stars! this facility should not have thier doors open! worst at everything! no one knows anything about anything! worst nurses, worst case manager (israel) he shows no compassion or care, he just wanted to get my Father out the facility. no one shows compassion, they do not care for patients and thier recovery. My mother and I witnessed neglect, including my father not being fed,bathed,soiled linens,diapers that were not changed for hours, only time they did is when we visited and demanded them too. they seem to hire temp nurses almost daily, no social worker, never spoke to the doctor when requested, favorite answers the staff love is "i don't know". how can such a horrible rehab/conv center remain open? will be placing a formal complaint of neglect . i repeat do not send anyone to this godforsaken place! read more

I never write reviews but be warned if you take a family member here to rehabilitate. This place was awful and what you imagine of a senior home, this is it. Press the button for help and no one comes to assist. My dad was sent here by Kaiser. SHAME ON KAISER DOWNEY! Care is given by CNA's and only one LVN is on staff. The doctor comes in occasionally. They did not run proper test on my father to see that he had an infection. They attributed his behavior as dementia when in fact he had an infection causing him a change in his mental state. My Daughter in law is a nurse, had to go in and ask for specific tests to be run. PLEASE STAY and Advocate for your family member if they get stuck in this place. The "SUNSHINE" room is a place where they sit patients all day that have problems staying in bed or have mental issues. I went one day and the nurse that was in charge had to call CNA's to almost every room because the lights were on in almost every room. At 6:30 pm. all the staff pretty much goes on lunch so if you need help good luck. Pressing the button only puts on this faint porch light to the room and good luck with someone noticing the light! Covid protocol was not followed even after they had a mild outbreak. They pretty much had a tiny sign on the door and some staff would wear masks. The pictures are probably from years ago. The facility looks nothing like the pictures. My dad was sharing a room it took almost a week for him to get a closet. No TV was assigned to my dad the CNA on duty told me I could bring my own TV in and the maintenance crew would install it for me!! YES!!!! Can you imagine being 88 years old removed from your house and sitting all day staring at the walls? My dad is 88 but not much is wrong mentally, so sitting day in and out staring at walls drove him insane once he started to feel better. All I can say is please do your research. Go visit this place before you put a loved one in here. This place is terrible. I understand it's rehabilitation but some caring and upkeep is needed and deserved by the patients especially the elderly. ADVOCATE FOR THEM!!!!! read more
