This place was sooooo good. I'm not a breakfast person but I would def come back for breakfast again. Seating is inside and outside. Decent amount of seating in side. No booths just tables, outside table seating . Not a huge menu but everything we saw coming out looked amazing. There was a lot of items I saw that I would try

Monte Cristo with side of fruit
    Timmy S.

I met some friends here for brunch on a weekday. They have a small interior but a large patio with umbrella-covered tables. We chose to eat outdoors. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich. There were a variety of choices for sides and I chose a fruit bowl. I also requested an iced vanilla latte. Our waiter was pleasant and only checked on us once after our plates arrived, which was perfect as we were in deep conversation. My Monte Cristo was pan-fried and not deep-fried the traditional way, cut and served as three pieces. The French toast was prepared nicely and the turkey, ham, and cheese inside were fine. A small ramekin of syrup was provided, not nearly enough for dipping, but there was a full dispenser of syrup on the table so no problem. Usually a berry jam is provided on the side but they provided some sort of mysterious fruit jam that was bitter and a single small taste of it was all it took to deny it from further use. Yuck. The bowl of fruit was a great choice for a side. It was all bursting with flavor - strawberries, banana slices, and blueberries! I was glad I chose this over potatoes or fries. The iced vanilla latte was, at best, simply "okay". The flavor was weak. Overall, it was a fine breakfast meal.

Second visit and a well deserved updated review! This place does not disappoint!! I need to give a HUGE shout out to our server LULU!! Not only does she have gorgeous lashes but her personality is a 10/10! She recommended the chilaquiles verdes and we added birria on top! Absolute perfection! You will not be disappointed with the Food or staff here! This is one of my favorite breakfast spots now! Thank you Lulu for making my Pre Mother's Day breakfast fantastic! We will definitely return and will definitely recommend to family and friends!

    The BEST chilaquiles

Cute breakfast/brunch food restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating. It was a lovely day , so I chose the patio. Lots of yummy classic breakfast offerings with a twist! I ordered the chilaquiles. I placed my order with the friendly waitress and my food came out promptly. I was pleasantly surprised with the dish. The chips were bite sized ! Sooo much easier to eat than normal. It had just the right amount of verde sauce. Probably the best chilaquiles I've had!! The server also said this dish was her favorite... I will be bringing my hubby and daughter here in the future for sure!

Seating indoors...$6 for OJ (satisfies a craving but don't expect fresh squeezed), $5 for coffee.

Spacious patio, also plenty of seating options indoors. Found this spot when looking for a local spot for breakfast. Both times I've been the local law enforcement was in having coffee, so you know the service isn't going to be horrible. And heads up for seniors, there's an early bird breakfast during the week for $10.95 for a basic breakfast. Right off the bat going to say a couple of the reviews weren't off...the coffee listed on the menu advertised refills, but truly, the mugs are small and there's not someone routinely walking around with a coffee pot like you might expect at a breakfast spot. And I too found a hair in my food...had not planned on mentioning this, but when another reviewer mentions it in less than a month's time, think it's time for management to review prep and food handling standards. On the positive side, I was able to get a coffee to go. And I wasn't going to complain about the hair (I found it halfway through finishing off my pancake), but I realized it was really stuck in there so needed to let them know they needed to likely toss that batch of batter. Having been restaurant management, I personally would have comped the ticket. But they did take off the pancake, in fairness, without my asking for a refund. But truly, it does pretty much end your meal (just took the rest of my omelette to go). The prices are steep, but I'm sure the overhead is not low...food costs are going up, staffing costs are up, and they have a large space with plenty of parking. All of that comes at a price. But the portions are good, and overall what I've had was tasty. I did give the place another shot after the pancake incident (truly, the pancake was a bit underwhelming, with an expansive menu I recommend trying something else). I tried the birria omelette and the carnitas omelette with the house potatoes. Taters were tasty, omelettes were fluffy and consistent. It was interesting how they plated. A basic cheese omelette with the meat layer on top. I also tried the loaded chili cheese fries. I ordered without onions as I'm not a raw onion fan. It comes topped with sour cream and some other sauce. I would recommend order both toppings on the side. There was so much sauciness that you could barely taste the chili, but it does fluff up the plate, so maybe there's a method to the madness there. Staff has been nice and polite, but I can see where some folks may have had a bad experience. You can tell there are some hard workers (both of my servers fell in this category), and there's a couple of slackers. But the manager on site should be floating so that they can keep an eye on the operation (front and back of house), and check in with diners. Just my two cents. Definitely worth a try if you've never been.

Got the Classic Cerritos with bacon (add $2.50). A very delicious breakfast. Good quality ingredients. The food was well prepared. The hero of the meal were the hash browns. If you like crispy hash browns, SOS does not disappoint. They cook the hash browns crispy on both the top and bottom (please see my pictures). Dining is available both inside and outside. Service was very friendly and prompt. No issues on parking since they share a parking lot with Ralph's.

This place is hidden in a strip mall near a Wells Fargo bank and a bunch of restaurants. It's open for breakfast and lunch with a choice between inside or outside dining. We chose inside and it's quite loud, despite being only a handful of people. My friend and I both ordered the Belgian waffle and I added the bacon and a side of whipped cream. The whipped cream was made in house, not the oozy kind from a spray can. It was delicious and worth the 75 cents. Service was good, coffee was refilled frequently. I wish they offered a larger mug instead of the small, probably 10 oz one that needs refilling frequently, especially since they charge $5 for it. We came on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. I can only imagine how busy it would be on a weekend

Birria omelet with house potatoes abs sourdough toast
    Linda M.

Went here for breakfast after doing our taxes. The restaurant is located in a shopping center with a Ralph's, CVS, H&R Block, a gym, etc There was a small crowd outside the restaurant which indicates a wait and of course the popularity of the restaurant. After putting our name down on the waitlist, we waited outside for about 20 minutes. We were seated inside. Our waitress came by within minutes to drop off water and take our drink order. After a couple of minutes she came back and took our order. My husband got the Green Chile Verde Omelet with hashbrowns and white toast. I got the Short Rib Birria omelet with house potatoes and sourdough toast. Our little one go a side of bacon and fries. Our food came out within about 10-15 minutes. We all enjoyed our breakfast. They had good portions and both our omelets were flavorful and delicious. I couldn't finish mine so I gave the rest to my husband. He loved it and said he would order it next time. Overall, staff was attentive, nice and friendly. Food was so good I can't wait to go back. Would highly recommend .

    Corned Beef Benedict
    Arian M.

This was a nice place to try. The restaurant has a quaint feel, and the large outdoor patio adds to the overall experience, especially if you enjoy dining outside. The corned beef benedict was well prepared and flavorful, and the biscuits and gravy were a solid, comforting option. Both dishes were satisfying and nicely done. Our server, Gloria, was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu, which made ordering easy and straightforward. Overall, a pleasant experience and a good spot to check out if you're in the area.

We finally had the chance to try Sunny on South and we are glad we made a reservation on Yelp. When we arrived, there was already a long wait, but since we had a reservation, we were able to get seated right away. Definitely recommend reserving ahead if you plan to visit. We ordered a vanilla latte and a caramel latte. Both were good and a great start to the meal. For food, we tried the Monte Cristo and the Corned Beef Benedict. The Monte Cristo was delicious. The batter was light and not too heavy, and the jam paired really well with it. The fruit on the side was fresh and a nice balance to the dish. The Corned Beef Benedict was also really good. The corned beef was tender, and the eggs were cooked just right. We chose the house potatoes on the side, and they were cooked crispy with just the right amount of seasoning. The place itself is small and can feel a bit crowded, especially during busy hours. That said, the price feels fair for the portion sizes. Overall, a great brunch spot and we will definitely come back. If you plan to try it, making a reservation is a good idea.

    Nana's Breakfast Mess w/ 3 corn tortillas!!
    Eunhae H.

Owned by Chef Tommy Ortega, who is also the owner of Amor Y Tacos (located in the same plaza), Sunny on South is a cute brunch spot. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, with many folks opting for the patio seating. The decor inside is also very cute - with a wall dedicated to street names in Cerritos and breakfast themes and phrases. I've been on a hunt for a good Monte Cristo, and I was excited to see that they had it on their menu! So, of course, I ordered the Monte Cristo with crispy hash browns, Nana's Breakfast Mess, Short Rib Birria Benedict, Belgian Waffles (comes with mixed berries), Fried Chicken Katsu & Waffles, and Loaded Chili Cheese Fries. My top three were Nana's Breakfast Mess, which comes with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, ham, peppers & onions over roasted breakfast potatoes, topped with sausage gravy and chives. It comes with flour or corn tortilla, which I opted for the corn tortilla. I loved all the different textures in this hot mess of deliciousness! The Loaded Chili Cheese Fries were also solid, and the Short Rib Birria Benedict was very flavorful. The Monte Cristo wasn't as memorable, but I'd definitely come back here for the other items mentioned.

Nana's Breakfast Mess Chile Verde Omelette
    Flor De Maria A.

Strengths: There's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, plenty of parking and although we were 11th in the queue the wait was not that long. The folks were super friendly, attentive and welcoming. The restaurant had many patrons in groups of 2 or more. Needs: My husband ordered Nana's Mess and I ordered the Chile Verde Omelette. Both items looked very good on the menu and on the plate but they lacked so much taste. I wanted to like it so badly because everything else was going so well. Impact: Maybe I will come back and ask for recommendations.
