I've been here in the Tacoma area for about a year and this is the first place for donuts I'd be willing to visit a second time. They do donuts like they're supposed to be, deep fried and glazed from the proper dough. Not cake. AND they have kolaches! I wouldn't dropped five stars if they would've nuked the kolaches. They're pricey for donuts but I sure miss a southern made donut so. read more

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and that amazing fresh-donut aroma. I tried Every DONUT and EVERYTHING I tried was delightful, soft, fresh, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. The donuts were light and fluffy. The family really enjoyed all the Donuts as well. You can tell Sunny's Donuts take pride in what they make. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. They were patient, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel personal instead of rushed. It's rare to find a place that combines quality and kindness so well. I love coming here. I came here a few times so far and there is a young lady and a young man who are so nice and helpful! I work near by so I come here for a doughnut a few times and I love their apple fritters and blueberry doughnuts, i recommend those. The prices are great too. It seems like a family owned place and the people there are very nice too. I say to give them a try their doughnuts are delicious! read more

I purchased donuts from "Too Good to Go" the other day because I hadn't tried Sunny's donuts and $10 seemed like a fair deal. I also knew I'd be in the area around the pick-up time the next day. They were delicious! They were not old donuts. They were pulled from the case just after 2:00. Pick up time is between 2:00 and 3:00. I'm assuming these are the end of the day donuts, as they close at 3:00. I got a great assortment and they were all delicious (and fresh). The woman working there was also very friendly! I will definitely stop by and pick up a few if I'm in the area. read more

I'm pretty critical when it comes to Apple Fritters, and I have to say, it was one of the best I've ever had. The fritter was thinner the way I like them, loaded with apple, and cooked a little crispy around the edges. It was perfect for my taste and fresh. The maple bar was good, too, but I forgot to take a picture before it was gone. I'm jyst happy this place isn't closer to home or I would be here every day. It's not often when you find donut perfection, but I did today. read more

When you go to a donut store at 5 am yoj expect the donuts to be warm. Not at Sunnys. They are like theyve been on the shelf d oe half the day. The apple fritter that i bought wasnt an apple fritter, it was just a fritter....no apple to speak of in any bite. Sure the raised donuts were fairly soft, but only half the size of Pao's and more expensive. If you are looking for donuts in the morning do yourself a favor and avoid Sunnys. You are better off driving to 6th ave by the bridge amd going to Pao's or drive to Puyallup and go to Happy Donuts. Youll be glad you did. Will not return here. Just wasnt the way to start the day, or any day for that matter. read more

New to the area and needed a bunch of donuts. You see our company has Donut Friday's and our usual person was on a trip this Friday. So not knowing where to go I of course Yelped Donuts close to me and this little gem popped up. I quickly looked it over, saw what they had and ordered what I needed via Yelp. Picked them up and delivered to the company. Let's just say the teams were very happy with Donuts. This not the end, they were soft, perfectly cooked and the flavors and variety in the multi pack was perfect. These were not just good donuts, they were freaking delicious with the most awesome freshness possible. Look I am sure there are other donut places, however this place is worth the drive (short, or long) to get awesome donuts. read more

My law office window stares directly out at Sunny's and for the past month they have been closed due to COVID-19. I as a self confessed donut fiend was not happy about this. Until today, when I sadly gazed out my window to see a beacon of hope...AN OPEN SIGN. I quickly took office requests and high tailed it over there. I tried the blueberry mexican roll up and this thing is to die for. Crunchy ends, gooey filling, my inner fat kid was screaming. I will be frequenting this place, we hope you can make it through this Sunny's! Luce & Associates loves you. Side note...if you go to a donut shop for decorations, you're clearly not a true donut fan and can stick to Krispy Kreme. These are traditional, how they should be yeasty donuts. Not sure if we went on an off day, but today was bad. They had a sign at the door that a dozen was $18.99, already pretty steep but my kids wanted donuts so we walked in. We were immediately hit with a very off putting smell, next we looked at the glass display and there were barely any donuts and what they had looked so unappetizing. The one star is for the nice lady that was very eager to help us. I couldn't bring myself to order the dozen, so I told her we would be right back. As soon as we walked out my kids (who never say no to any donuts) told me that they didn't want anything from there bc it smelled really bad. We ended up finding a different spot that fit the bill of what we were looking for. read more

We stopped in to grab our kiddos a donut as we were in the area and read other reviews that seemed to make this place promising! The service was friendly and clearly family oriented as I believe it was a family with two small children working/running the place. I want to give more stars, but in all honesty the place wasn't very clean. The surfaces had crumbs and a few donuts had remnants of other donuts or crumbs on them in the display case. It just didn't feel clean to me. The little girl was eager to help ring us up when we ordered so we went ahead and bought two donuts from her. To be honest we did not eat the donuts so I cannot comment on taste or quality. I just was unimpressed with the cleanliness that I didn't feel I could give the donuts to my kids. I love to eat donuts and I always go buy donuts for my company there. The day I went there, I think the owner was working, I was waiting for a long time. I was really sad after long wait, I received 2 dozens of very dry donuts. I think they gave me left over donuts from the day before because around 7am, fresh make donuts should be best taste. Also I don't know if the owner have dog, cat or they allow animal in to shop, I found dog hair on my donuts. I don't mind overprice donuts, if they taste good, but dry and animal hair on my donuts is not ok, it's really gross and disgusting, I will never ever go to Sunny's Donuts in Fife again. Now I found the best Donuts shop call Happy Donuts location at 305 2nd St NE, Puyallup WA 98372. Their donuts are way cheaper and their donuts are fresh, their place is so clean too. Happy Donuts is going to be my permanent shop from now on. read more

Awww man! I should had taken a photo of the delicious and varied baked goods I bought!! Thought I'd stop by to pick up a doughnut or two on my way to grab some lunch and say hi to the friendly owners. Ok, the husband is the quiet one! Lol... I know who the bakery was named after... Sunny is so sweet and friendly! I must admit that I was surprised there were still doughnuts left by 2:30 so I ended up buying a dozen to share with my work colleagues to help out a local small business! Granted, the bonus is was ours....delicious home-baked goods! Not my first time, and won't be my last!! Thank you Megan, keep the office orders going, and so will I! ;) read more

Post doctors visit, and baby (mainly mom lol) is demanding/craving donuts. Pulls up the Ever so handy dandy Yelp app and lucky us, Sunnys was on the way home. With the knowledge from past reviews of this place not being so very appealing to the eye, but worthy for the tummy, we, well mainly I, decided it's worth a shot. We arrived here shortly after 11:30am donuts were plentiful. My daughter and I were greeted by who I'm assuming to be Sunny. When we walked in he was busily doing paperwork at his desk at the corner of the bakery, but was quick to get up, and greet us. Just upon walking in, yes you could immediately tell that there is a lack of female presence, cleaning, and organizing. But we're here for donuts guys, not the aesthetics haha. We were able to try some chocolate dipped crullers, a glazed donut, and some strawberry glazed donuts too. Being the avid sweet lover I am, I had a piece of each as soon as we got into the car, and YUM! Although the reviews and overall looks of this place isn't so up to par to the cool and hip small business places we have in today's time, don't let these factors disarray you. Sunnys donuts are delicious, pocket friendly, and very customer oriented. It's evident as to why Sunnys is still here x years later. read more

Imma give this place a 4 only honestly because they have kolochies which in the south is a BIG BIG deal like I mean BIG Ive given up my search for them up north but randomly found this place on DoorDash so I didn't try the donuts but they have kolochies (pig in a blanket) that means this is a small owned family business with good homemade stuff not like krispy crème or the huge over the top donut places Washington has for some reason I've always hated those just want something simple and I got it the kolochies are amazing taste like home perfect the next day just like I remember them I'd honest make the 25 drive just to get them read more

Usually by afternoon, doughnut shops are sold out of their best sellers. We walked in the door at 1:00 pm and low and behold!... They were sold out of glazed, and had one chocolate covered left. Still, other selections were available. I chose to go with 2 of the last apple fritters and lemon filled. Apple fritters are a must for me (blame my mother, bless her heart!) What did I think about the doughnuts?? Hmm...well, I don't think they were overpriced. They were the yeasty type that I love. My husband devoured his blueberry cake. Overall decent I'd say I'll be back for more. I just have to arrive much earlier to get pick of the litter. Small joints like this will not make extra. They would need a call ahead for large orders. Assorted varieties will be day to day. I understand a small business has to be careful not to waste, not to make too much, not to spend on frills. Let the doughnuts speak for themselves. Yes, the review about their lack of decor is spot on! I just try to stare at the doughnuts inside the case instead of the foreign film playing on the TV set. Remember, the reason why we walked in the door was because doughnuts were calling. It's simply a no frills place. Walk in, walk out, and I dare you not to eat one on the way home! Last time I went in to this laundry mat for doughnuts, they only accepted cash. I haven't given them a second thought, because my jeans fit just right without a fat wallet in them. Here's one thing you don't often see at other donut shops: a foot long empanada. It's like a giant sweet eggroll filled with blueberry jelly. While it's not super crispy, you get the soft thin layers of pastry and slightly crunchy glaze. I still don't know why they call it an empanada. It's nothing like any empanada I ever ate, but it's delicious. The donuts are what you would expect of any yeast donuts. Their bavarian cream is not rich or creamy enough for me, so I wouldn't order it again. Stick to the empanadas and get them fresh in the morning. read more

Don't let the mess inside fool you - this is one of the better donuts in the region. Lots of other donut purveyors neglect the delicate cruller, though Sunny's has them in their fluffy abundance, frosted or unfrosted. Definitely hit it up if you are in the neighborhood. read more

This place could use a woman's touch (hate to say that LOL). It is dirty, has no atmosphere and looks like a garage sale for donuts. There are stacks of empty pop boxes along the wall - virtually no decorations and it does not look clean. The donuts are good but they would be nicer with a Mocha but - the machine is broken and he is not planning on fixing it. Tables are just there - no atmosphere and not a great place to stop for an afternoon snack. read more

I tried them for the first time last Friday. I'm the Office Manager at a shipyard in the Port of Tacoma and my boys get Donuts and OJ every Friday. Just cuz we love them and also, a full stomach is what a shipyard runs on. Previously...I was hitting up Safeway for them every week. I had to call the night before. Wake up early...get off the freeway and drive deep into Federal Way to pick 'em up. It took so much extra time...and I often forgot. This ended up forcing me to sometimes getting muffins at Costco. My guys aren't into muffins...not the type you can get at a Costco, anyway. Plus, they don't open till 8AM ... and I like to be at work by then. Not anymore! However, each of the donuts were over fried and tasted like old grease. The blueberry cake was full of blueberries but no real blueberry taste. The fritter was soaked in grease and no banana flavor. Sadly this is not on my list to try again.

I always appreciate when a coffee shop serves drinks in real glasses/mugs, which they do here. The service was fast and the employee I spoke to was very nice. My only complaints are the parking lot and that, like most coffee places, it's a little expensive. The parking lot is truly miserable to park in. Super tight and precarious, and my car is a pretty averaged size SUV. You're better off street parking on the busy road it's on and walking. There's seating inside, but not tons. Limited options on a Friday morning that I went. Other than these (admittedly small) complaints, this is a nice coffee shop and I'd definitely stop by again next time I'm in the area. Always nice to support a local place over the big chains.

Love it there so much and it's right near the YMCA so get a quick workout in and then jump to the Happy Belly for a treat!! If you are on a tight budget though because I know sometimes they can be a bit pricey, they do have stuff on sale, or just get something small! You won't regret it!

The only hitch was some old guy that slipped in ahead of me to complain about something in his order but didn't want any replacement. Why waste everyone's time for nothing? The staff was courteous and eventually got him moving along. The coolest part of my order is the donuts are still fresh and tasty several days later. Grocery store donuts would have been stale the next day but the KKs were holding strong days later. Definitely worth the premium. Great donuts and friendly staff.

It's also disgusting that every employee has rotten and missing front teeth and can't answer simple questions about the donuts. It should smell sweet in there, not like decay and halitosis. Hard pass. Go to legendary...donuts are way better, twice as big, nice employees, and $10 cheaper.
