Honestly we had a pretty good experience with sunnyside. I really thought our apartment was cute for the price. I absolutely love Shallan the property manager. Our application was processed pretty quickly. Whenever we had issues they were handled pretty promptly. No complaints! read more

I've lived here for 7 years and was a very responsible tenant. After moving out, they charged me a month of rent while I was no longer living there because they forgot to remove my autopay. It has been a month and I am still waiting on a refund. I have called the office and corporate several times and I keep getting the run around. Poor experience! read more

Do not recommend whatsoever. First of all, I wanted to announce that I downloaded Yelp just for this review. On Sunday, March 21, I had called at approximately 4 in the afternoon to report my dryer had stopped working. (I had already put my work uniform to wash, and all of my towels were in the dryer, also wet; as I set the timer for the dryer, the time went down, but the dryer did not turn on). The lady working with me asked if this was an "emergency" and I considered it to be so, as I had no alternative to dry my clothes nor towels, as the lease agreement states we are not allowed to hang things over the balcony. She stated that she would get someone to fix it as soon as possible. It had already been two days, and no fix. I call again to Roxanne Liddle-- owner of the apartments, telling me that maintenance could take another day as there are leak issues happening throughout the apartment complex, but there would be a technician responding as soon as possible. I remain patient, trusting in her word. Fast forward to Thursday, and my dryer is still not fixed. I call again, to the front desk to a very apologetic worker telling me that there will be someone responding as soon as possible, for the third time. I finally have peace of mind knowing it only took four days, until not even a minute later, Roxanne Liddle calls my number, and proceeds to scold me that maintenance could not be done because I had my dog inside, accusing me of breaking the lease agreement as I had my dog loose within my apartment. Mind you, I had already paid the required pet deposit and paperwork with Roxanne Liddle's signature approving this--before I even saw the apartment I moved into. I had calmly told her I had all the paperwork from LAST JUNE proving I had completed my portion of the agreement, and she was apologetic, stating there would be a technician coming out on Monday. ... It is now the Monday, 29th of March, 2021--8 entire days after I called the outage of my dryer and still, there has been no work done at all to fix this. I will be moving out once my lease agreement is completed, and will not be giving this Apartment complex any more of my money. I strongly advise readers to take this experience in consideration. Do not recommend. I live in Christina Apartments, owned by Sunnyside. The interior is basic, no upgrades, amenities, playgrounds for kids, pool, gym, etc. There's always trash littered around the property - no security, even though there have been multiple times the police have had to be called because of residents. Only 1 tiny parking spot per apartment. The exterior walls to the unit are super thin, you can hear the conversations of people walking on the sidewalk! The interior walls are also super thin, you can hear conversations of people three rooms down from you or upstairs/downstairs. Maintenance people are pretty friendly but management is not. She is very rude in a polite, condescending way. May charge you for maintenance that should be included in your rent! Do not recommend!! read more

this unprofessional complex does not deserve 1 star soon as i moved in maybe about a month or so they sent me a memo saying that they had video of my teenage children stealing someone package i called and asked can i see this video after talking with my kids and just knowing that my kids would never do such a thing they would never show me the video kept giving me excuse after excuse on why i could not see this so called video of my kids stealing a package then from there it was constanly something i lived in a 3bed room unit with my 3 daughters on weekends my family would come visit us but my nasty neighbors was always being rude hitting the ceiling with brooms then lied and told the leasing office all this stuff i decided i was just gonna move after my neighbor daughter was all over the news for drinking and driving and was the cause of someone losing their life my neighbors also let they dirty dog poop all over the grass i caught them several times on my ring camera once they sent a ltter saying they was not renewing my lease i found a new place that is wayyyyy better nice pool gym and a business center i was happy to get out of there read more

Move here if you don't want your SECURITY DEPOSIT back. I moved out January 12th 2017 today is March 7th 2017. I have called several times with the same responses. Your suppose to get your deposit back in 20 days that is not the case here. I have been very patience but enough is enough I have filed a complaint with the attorney general discussing my situation. I have been living in these apartments for 3 years have never seen such poor management ever. The apartments themselves are very nice spacious and back patio roomy for the outdoor furniture etc. The price is very good for the apartment size whether 1,2 or 3 bedrooms. The parking is very poor tenants with more than one vehicle should only be allowed to park in the lots so that the free spots can be designated for guest. The streets within the parked cars are filthy dirty they were supposed to be power washed nothing came of that. No play area for children which is really a very poor feature. Take your good tenants serious and respect what they are telling you and make things better instead of worrying about the monies all the time. Concerned!!! read more

Large apartment complex. No outside facilities for kids (pool, play area). 1,2,3 BR apts. Looks like an industrial area, although just built in the past 2-3 years. The Sunnyside apartments are absolutely horrible. The roofs on those units are done and they know it. There's so much water damage and they'll just patch the issue til it becomes a problem again as my husband and I experienced. In addition, they seem to hire some awfully rude people. Roxanne in particular is one phone call away from getting corporate called on her. I get yelled at, cut off and talked over each and every time I speak with her and it's frustrating dealing with that 9am in the morning. Not to mention, they never get the work orders done at a reasonable time. We moved to the Christina side and I requested the blinds that SHOULD HAVE come with the half bath over a week ago, it's still not here. I also requested someone come change the front lock as my key has not been able to open the door on two different occasions. To me, that's an emergency. Still, no one has come out. I'm really just fed up at this point and looking to move so form your own conclusions. read more

This apartment complex is pure hell. I first moved in approximately five years ago and I really didn't have any issues until the management teams elected to switch locations. Personnel who used to work in the office here relocated to the Middletown area and Middletown office workers came here. First let me start by saying that I was unable to burn candles in my bedroom because every time that I did I notice black soot on the blades of the ceiling fan, I purchased a custom king size pure white head board similar to velvet material and after burning the candles for approximately three years the soot destroyed my bed. It was no longer white it was black. When I brought this to management attention they told me to use my rental insurance. I called USAA and was advised that the ventilation caused the damages therefore, the apartment complex is responsible. I didn't realize how bad it was until I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia second to breathing in the soot from the candles. When I coughed up sputum it was the of a jet black color. I moved from apartment 64 to apartment 51 and I used candles again and what did I discover, this apartment too had the same ventilation issue. My ceiling fan turned black, black soot started accumulating around the bedroom door, the carpet started changing to a dark color, the walls would have dark circular dark grey/black in color. After complaining to management, I was told not to burn candles, to pay someone myself to discover what is wrong, etc. Now isn't that dumb as heck to require me to do this. To this day I have not received any compensation from my ruined bed nor has anyone come to repair the ventilation system. Next, I was told that I owe then $139.00, where this came from no one in the office could tell me. I eventually paid $139 because I just didn't feel like dealing with this issue. Very next month they said I owed an additional $230, please tell me how I owe this I am so confused. Then, I paid my rent in March the office decided to apply my funds to my old apartment while placing these annoying ass note on my door saying I owe $300 plus my rent amount close to $2k, I called the office and inquired why I was receiving these notes and with a smart ass comment she said "obviously you didn't pay your rent". I told her I most certainly did and without hesitation she looked on my old account and said owe you paid $1---.00. So, I was a little perplexed I had paid more than what my rent usually is and she quoted my exact amount. So they deliberately applied it to the wrong account. Also, I started to smell gas in my bathroom very strong order, I called the office and next thing I knew five minutes later I was told, We need you to leave by end of the month, I said why, we just do, can you tell me why, she said again we just do I said my lease isn't up until September. Again, I started receiving notes saying I owe this extra monies, I called Donna the office Managers from up north. I called her for three weeks leaving messages and she refused to call me back. I was told Donna was coming to the Smyrna office on Friday, I had previously asked for a meeting with her to. I wanted them to pull all my checks that I paid to compare and explain to me where this extra debt of money that I supposedly owe is coming from. I never got that meeting. I had not paid my rent for may yet because I wanted to a check and balance of my accounting with Donna to locate where the discrepancy lies citing I owe them x amount of funds. Because I was a little late deliberately because I wanted to clear up any discrepancies on my file. I went ahead and paid my rent because I felt like I was running around in circles. Next thing I know Donna went and filed a petition to have me evicted citing that I owe her rent money. I called Donna saying what is this about. She said don't worry about it I have your check I said good because my check clears in 24 hours, she said no about a week and I said I have been here five years and my checks clears within 24 hours. I said do I need to show up to court and she said know that was just to let you know that if you didn't pay I would file on the 13th. I said Donna if I need to show up at court I am there, she said no you're fine. Well approximately three weeks later on a Friday close to 1600 hrs. a constable knocks on the door then tapes a letter to my door saying I have been evicted and I have to be out within three days. I was livid. On Monday I went to the court house and voice my concerns. I stated why am I getting this order when I have paid my rent and Donna confirmed that she received my money, as a matter of fact, (let me advise people of this) I paid Sunnyside with my personal check, as I have done for years, after Donna confirmed she had my payment, two days later I get a note on the door requiring me to pay my rent with a damn credit card.
