    Happy dinners
    Lori L.

After our power went out at home due to a storm I needed a quick place to get a hot breakfast for my daughter before school. After going to another local breakfast place and seeing their moldy fruit next to the cash register, I thought I would try Sunny's. When we walked in there was no wait and a nice women greated and sat us right away. I let her know we were in a hurry so we would be ordering quickly. She gave us a couple of minutes to look at the menu and came back promptly, took our order and had our drinks soon after. Our food was out in minutes, hot, fresh, and perfect! This is defiantly a home town dinner kind of feel. Not fancy but lots of decent options and the mugs are ceramic (unlike another breakfast place here in Ashland). Prices were fair and the dinning area was neat and tiddy. Thanks for helping this mom out! Daughter got to school on time with a full belly!

Supposed to be Irish Benny but more like an Irish with hard boiled yolks

Got an Irish benidect today to go they said 15 20 min that's when I got there and both eggs are hard boiled and the hash was disgustingly soggy and cold. Was very shocked never had an experience like this there in now.

    "Well-done grilled onions." Yeah, right.

I have been coming here for months, because it's the closest one to my house. Every single time, I'm disappointed. Whether it's busy or slow, and I have a different waitress every time - either the food is wrong, nobody checks back, or the overall atmosphere is subpar. This is my FIRST review, as I'm a server at another local diner, and always try to give the benefit of the doubt, but this is ridiculous. Either the staff is untrained, unmotivated, or out of it. I ask for very cooked onions, and I received microwaved ones in my omelette. Like in most restaurants, they microwave the vegetables separately before adding them into an omelette, but come on. Clear as day onions, and no evidence of it touching a grill top. No big deal, but I ask for ranch after I flag down my waitress and then I don't get it. There's only a handful of tables in the restaurant. This isn't even worth the $10. I will drive to Marlboro or even further, because this is just appalling. Bring my food out warm (I'm not even expecting it hot), ask me how it is after you see us start to eat, ask us if we need anything, and that's it. It's not that hard. Also, where is the manager doing table visits?

Baked apple pancakes - sooooo good! Tastes like apple pie!

This place looks like a hole in the wall on the outside (I love hole in the wall places!) and it has a diner feel on the inside. Parking is limited out front and a lot of people park across the street. When you come, I strongly recommend the baked apple pancakes! I get them every time. They have cinnamon apples baked right into them and it tastes like an apple pie and a pancake had a baby. So good! The service is pretty good...like most places, it just depends on the server you get. The first time I came, the server was a young guy who was really excited about life and happy and attentive to the table. This place takes credit cards but the servers give you your bill and then you take it up front to pay. It's not like other restaurants where the server takes your card/cash. Lol the first time I went, I waited a while for the server to come pick up my credit card before I noticed that people were going up to the front to pay. The prices are really great for the big portions they have - everything is pretty much under $10 a serving.

The omelette special with spinach tomato bacon and herb cream cheese with a side of silver dollar pancakes

Sunnyside Cafe is one of those go to brunch places when your around Framingham or Ashland. Open from the wee hours of the morning till around 2 pm everyday their omelette's are always large and in charge with a host of varied ingredients and breakfast sandwiches are stacked high. If your brave, try something off the specials menu. Usually it's well worth the money and the dish is both creative and delicious. However every egg has its runny days so if your disappointed-- you didn't get that tip from me. My favorite thing at Sunnyside is the omelettes. Go forth and eat as many as you can; they have over 10 different styles and many of which you can create your own. If you're craving something sweet for breakfast choose the french toast or the silver dollar pancakes. They are warm, fluffy, and usually adorned with a hunk of whipped butter. Mmmmm. If you're going to order a stack of fancy pancakes be prepared to unbuckle your belt-- they are huge. But be warned: the center is ALWAYS undone. I've been going to Sunnyside for about 5 years, trust me I know. Eat around the outside and just admit defeat in the middle. On a more professional side, Sunnyside is really open to substitutions and the servers are courteous ( but perhaps not the most happy) about such requests. Leave them a big tip and enjoy your meal, your way. Tips: - You pay at the counter after your meal so don't leave the money on the table-- the server will mistake it for a hefty tip. - If your coming around 9 am on a saturday expect to wait. There isn't very much waiting room inside but the wait isn't usually very long - You may get a grumpy waitress-- but it doesn't usually affect the service. They'll pout. You still get your food. Everyone's happy in the end.

Food is delicious, and they bring the food so fast! My daughter loves the Mickey Mouse pancakes. It's our new favorite neighborhood spot.

We asked the manager for some napkins to prop up the wobbly table and he said (quote) "Why don't you tell your kid not to stand on his chair" and walked away. The kid in question was literally sitting in his chair with one foot against the table. We explained to the manager the impact of what he said, and gave him multiple opportunities to apologize. We get it: its St Patrick's Day in an Irish bar and it's stressful. But instead of recognizing that he snapped: he doubled down and tried to convince us that his language fine, and that we were in the wrong for calling him out. I even talked with him an hour later, after it had cooled off, and he continued to be aggressive and dismissive. A bad manager is one thing. But our server didn't acknowledge the awkwardness (even as other families watched in shock), just trying to rush us out. The food was probably the worst it's ever been at Stone's, which raises questions of why. It's understandable to have a bad day, it's *not* ok to set the tone for your staff and establishment that berating your customers, unprompted, is acceptable.

The staff from the front to servers were so awesome. We called ahead and they accomodated us right away with a group of 10. They told us we would have to squeeze a bit then they extended our table after a new one opened up. The menu was not too expensive but had a lot of good choices. Here is what we had THE MAC: classic egg & cheese sandwich with choice of bacon, sausage or ham served on an english muffin - my cousin said this was delish, perfect for a simple breakfast without the hassle HALF SPOONFUL: two eggs any style, choice of bacon, sausage OR ham, home fries & silver dollar pancakes - my sister said everything was good, sausage was flavorful and not chewy, eggs cooked perfect to her choice of over medium, the only thing was pancake was a little dry but she is pancake picky so it should be fine MEAT & CHEESE OMELETTE: two eggs, choice of bacon, sausage OR ham & american cheese; served with home fries & choice of toast - my cousin got steak for his meat and he said it was perfect. Egg was of good consistency not dry and steak was cooked perfect Salmon Benedict: lox was not too salty, eggs cooked to perfection, and hollandaise....I haven't tasted better than this MAC Benedict or Corned beef hash Benedict: difference with the salmon, min was served on a toasted croissant. This was ingenious, like a sandwich with creamy sauce...soooooo ahhhmazing. Going Bananas waffle: Belgium waffle topped with caramel, bananas, and toasted pecan....can we say YUMMM!!! Steak burrito: we took his to go but it looked equally good Steak and eggs: the steak was so tender and the flavor....perfect Classic burger: my brother in law got this and added egg and bacon. The burger was cooked perfect and the egg too. Grilled cornbread: ok if you ever go here...this is a must...the best cornbread I have ever had! Side of homemade gravy: This was delish!! Side of extra crisp bacon: when we order this, we usually get a bad burnt bacon, or crispy on the ends and chewy on the inside. This bacon here....was perfect. The flavor was on point and it's like it disintegrated in my mouth after the first chew. Overall, everything was sooo good. I commend the chefs and staff for having such a great place to make our bellies and hearts happy. When we visit here again, we will definitely go back to eat and try other things. I suggest you try it out too.
