If I could leave no star, I would. I called to make an appointment for my daughter who needed help. The office lady told me that "she would have to do it, she's a big girl" but my daughter being a vulnerable adult was set with a therapist who didn't take our BCBS insurance and instead was charged almost $200 a session. The therapists are great, however I feel the office gal steered my daughter to a therapist that didn't take our insurance, to be able to charge her more. That's why I wanted to set up the appointments for her. When I called to speak about this, She was very rude and unprofessional. read more

My experience with the doctors, therapists and staff have been nothing but wonderful. Especially during these very difficult times they have made every effort to provide for their patients as best they can. I've never seen a more caring environment. The negative reviews I read may have come from situations where there needs to be compliance on the patients side as well. I myself, and others that I know, can truly say that Sunrise Counseling has improved the quality of life and also saved many lives. I would highly recommend them. read more

I've been using Sunrise Counseling center for a little over 6 months now. When I first called them they didn't have availability to take me on but not even a week later I was called back and they were able to accommodate me and match me to someone who can help. I was skeptic at first since it's not a private practice per se but I'm so glad I gave them a chance. Angelo D'Esposito has been truly amazing in helping me redirect, navigate and learn to breathe during difficult times. He's always willing to work with my schedule, work out hiccups with my insurance and reassuring that he's always available for when I need him. read more

I'm really shocked at the bad reviews Sunrise Counseling Center has gotten. I've been a client for going on close to 10 years and have had only positive experiences. Actually, going to Sunrise Counseling has given me the tools to make huge changes in my life so I can not recommend them enough. I will add that Rich Scheinberg is my therapist and he is a wonderful therapist, but there is something like 40 other therapists on staff and they try hard to match the right therapist to each client. I've only had positive experiences with the office staff. All in all I'd rate Sunrise Counseling 10 stars if I could! read more

A friend of mine was discharged from Dr. Akhtar's care because she stopped coming. She was having housing issues and even after she explained to her why, Dr. Ahktar said she could no longer treat her and discharged her without formally referring her to other providers. All she got was 30 days worth of meds. The referral letter came in the mail 2 weeks after her "discharge". She's just finding a new treatment nearly 1 1/2 months later. How can you leave someone to look for providers and not help them? I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

For the past few years going to this place it's been horrible. An ongoing issue continues to not be fixed. Here's what happens... I go to my appointment with my provider and she will write out a prescription for me but then my pills don't show up. I keep telling these pricks at the office about this and their only solution is for me to show up to an appointment to get my pills. But I'm not gonna show up to the appointments unless I know I'm getting my damn medicine. I swear it's like everything I say goes through 1 ear and out the other because certain doctors these days don't seem to care about their patients. I hope this place gets shut down I'm sick of people in the medical field who don't do their jobs and blame it on the patient no matter how damn clear I was about the problems I been having. read more

I have been going to Sunrise Counseling Center for two years now. Since the first time I stepped foot in there, the whole staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The office staff is very personable and is able to answer any, and all, questions I've had. They are always smiling and make the environment warm and welcoming. Breanne, the supervisor on weekends, is exceptional at her job and is very easy to talk to! The psychiatrists and therapists truly make you feel comfortable and like you are at home when you are there. The psychiatrists are attentive and never make you wait around, but always take their time discussing your needs and treatment plans. There is a great amount of therapists, who are wonderful and compassionate. I sincerely recommend that if you are in search of any of the services they offer, that you give them a call. I am a former patient of this establishment. The therapists and doctors are great. The office staff does what they can with the amount of patients and work load they have, and I think they do a great job. It does not look like the office is updated as far as software goes because everything is written down on paper and almost every time I went in I was asked for co-pays that I have already paid. The excuse I was given was the books must not be up to date. If the office would get a new software program I am sure these mishaps would not happen. The management is another story. They do not care about their employees and that is obvious to see. I have seen on numerous occasions when management would belittle their front desk employees in front of them and and yell at their employees in front of patients. I have attempted to ask the employees how they feel and they would not give any response, almost like they knew they were being watch or even recorded. I do not know names of any of the management because I was never greeted by any, other than coming to the front desk to yell at employees for whatever reason, it seems like they hide in their offices. Aside from the employees being treated like garbage, the office looks and smells like garbage and the bathroom is disgusting. As much as I loved my therapist and psychiatrist, I decided to leave because if management treats their employees the way they do it is not a caring and nurturing environment to be in. It seems like all they care about is money and that is not what their field is about. My suggestion is get a new office manager and upper management, update their software and treat their employees like human beings. read more

I'm seriously concerned that Sunrise Counseling Center is not taking the COVID-19 situation seriously. I called to renew meds for a 2 month supply as it has been done before and staff refused and states the medical professional I see, would not do it unless I come in next week for my appointment. I indicated that both my husband and I are immuno-surpressed and I am taking pro-active measures to pick up my medications all in one visit to the pharmacy as we also have a disabled child at home of which we have no child care for. Our child is autistic and we can NOT risk taking her to appointments as she will decompensate severely. Now, I am at risk of decompensating myself if my meds aren't renewed. The biggest problem is also that I have not been able to discuss this with the practitioner herself. This level of disregard gives proof of the little precautions this mental health office is taking should clients not continue their scheduled meds. I hope that the practitioner calls me. This office will be placing my ENTIRE family at risk. read more

While the psychiatrists and psychologists are good from my experience, their office staff is extremely dysfunctional. If you leave messages for the doctors, 95% of the time the doctors wont get the message. If they say they will call you back, again 95% of the time they don't. If they say they'll contact your pharmacy, the pharmacy doesn't get the messages either. The staff does not communicate well with each other at all, nor do they communicate effectively with their customers and even their communication with the doctors is extremely poor. I've had things like this happen on multiple occasions. One hand has no idea what the other hand is doing. For that very reason, I wouldn't recommend going to their office. read more

Absolutely aweful experience. Waiting room packed, staff had no clue about HIPPA violations. My first appointment was noted in the chart but somehow never added to schedule. Sent me home after an hour drive. Feels and looks like a clinic. Run away as fast as you can. read more
