The staff are super friendly, and like to fling a few sweeties or fortune cookies your way (just be sure to catch them). The food is beautiful (I love their black bean sauce) and the atmosphere is really pleasant; comfortable and relaxing. A few years ago a large group of us (happily accomodated by the friendly waiters without a booking) were out for a friend's birthday and having an absolute blast while we were at it. Unbeknown to us, a sudden, unpredicted and very heavy flurry of snow had been settling outside. I have such fond memories of that night...and I do love snow. I'll let you into a wee secret which i learnt while I was at school in the nearby vicinity. The restaurant opens for takeaway orders between 12 noon and 2pm, and for £2 (it may have gone up slightly since I left) you got either noodles, chips or rice with a sauce of your choice. Bargain. Now I admit that we always always always order from the same takeaway and love it, so maybe we were never going to be impressed by the Lucky Fortune. We went for the Lucky Fortune because it is close to where we live which probably isn't the best method for choosing a take away and I think it's safe to say that we won't be tempted to go back. I ordered chicken in Peking sauce while the husband went for beef and cashew nuts. The sauce they came in were from opposite ends of the sauce spectrum and neither was particularly good. The Peking sauce was an alarming red colour which must be hard to achieve with natural ingredients while the beef and cashews were in a thin bland kind of gravy. There were plenty of cashews though which some restaurants skimp on. Both dishes were bulked out by onions and carrots which always gets right up my nose. Not literally obviously, but it does really annoy me. We managed to eat most of it, so it wasn't really bad, it just wasn't particularly good either. The boiled rice was fine, but then how could you get that wrong and the noodles and bean sprouts were a bit oily. Call me fussy, but at the start of the weekend, my takeaway has to be good. I get quite tetchy otherwise so for the sake of my family, I think I'll stick to my usual take away.

Every Friday night, when I was younger, my dad and I would go and fetch the weekly Chinese. Then we moved house, and we'd do the same thing. Nowadays, this tradition has somewhat deteriorated, but King's Court is definitely our fave, having tried most of the other Chinese takeaways in Dundonald, a couple in Holywood, and a good few in East Belfast. Reasonably priced, King's Court is a friendly, cheerful restaurant / takeaway. They're always super quick, and the food is great. We've never had a complaint about the chicken with green pepper and black bean sauce, or an issue with our chow mein. It's straightforward, tasty Chinese food (as far as straightforward, tasty Chinese food goes over here anyway). The only minor blip we had was when we ordered a delivery one night (the football was on...), and the delivery man forgot the prawn crackers. I was not a happy bunny, and was onto King's Court immediately. They were extremely apologetic, as was the delivery man when he eventually arrived 20 minutes later. Of course, by that stage we'd finished our meal and now had a huge bag of prawn crackers. Ah well. Still, we do love King's Court, and I reckon it'll be a firm fave for many years to come.

Excellent portion sizes to boot. A great Chinese takeaway to really enjoy on a lazy Saturday night when you can't be bothered cooking but still want scrumptious treat food. Would highly recommend.

What you should expect is good sized portions and good tasty food. They also don't mind if you just keep ordering lots of starters to go with your wine. A great place for couples, families and it's very popular with groups too. Even though the larger groups are usually on a mission to get p%^^&*d, there is always a happy relaxed atmosphere. The Good Fortune is always popular, so don't turn up at the weekend if you haven't booked. Even if you have booked, you may have a bit of a wait in the tiny area at the front. Be prepared for that and take comfort from the fact that they let you open your wine while you are waiting. Another little bit of good fortune!
