As a palliative care NP, I only recommended them to my family to help my grandfather in the last stage of life because they have a strong presence here in California. But they are making this process very stressful. If my aunt weren't overwhelmed already, I would find a different hospice.

Had never been to a place where my docotor just left. Last docotr did not know my name or care. Most concerning part...twice theyre receptionist called me and left apointment times on my voicemail. Both times, I show up at the doctors office at the times she said (granted my apointments are three months in between, so I assume Ill just take her word for it). Show up at 730 like the voicemail reminded me, but my apointment was at 630. I missed my apointment twice beacuse of this...and the when I brought this up, the receptionist aka office manager (who was perfectly nice), automatically responded by saying "do you just want me to discontinue your services?" Place makes me feel like Im in LALA land, but I dont have this much trouble figuring things out anywhere else...so it must be viaquest. Luckily, I have been waiting to see another physician for months, and see him today. Best to avoid, way too much chaos for someone to be handeling your precious health! Sorry viaquest. Let me assure you what a BLESSING this inpatient hospice house is for Columbus. As someone who travels along the East coast providing hospice care for multiple hospitals/hospice, OhioHealth provides top-notch care! These patients/families are not only made comfortable in a beautiful environment, but they are also provided compassion. Based on some of the reviews, some folks simply do not understand that if a patient is placed in a hospice house--they are dying and hospice appropriate. Most of these patients are experiencing symptoms that were too difficult to manage at home or they are here briefly to give the families 5 days of respite. When/how long the patient lives is between the patient and the universe/God. If clinicians could cure the patient, they would. The majority of these patients have reached the end of what aggressive treatments and medicines can cure/fix--to do more would only prolong suffering. Comfort care becomes the priority! Our job is to make sure they are comfortable and provide education for families. As physicians and nurses, we have medications to assist the patient as they near end of life. Social Workers provide resources. Chaplains provide spiritual support. It's a multifaceted approach to put the patient first. Again, I really do hope Columbus realizes what a rare and special gift Kobacker is to the community--many cities are not so fortunate to have inpatient hospice facilities! Blessings!

We needed a spot immediately, and I feel the price reflected that need, it was very expensive, maybe unfairly so. I feel they put her in a price point higher and had assessed more care than what she truly needed, and getting that downgraded was more difficult than it needed to be. I feel part of the reason for this was some the forum was in the transition of new ownership which makes things bumpy. When she first arrived was the forum at Knightsbridge and when she left, it was the estates at Knightsbridge? To be honest, I'm not sure what the name of the place actually evolved into everybody still calls at the forum. I have since moved her out of the facility I can say that when she was in their care, her experience was good. She never was treated roughly or had any incidences that I needed to be aware of. The food seems to have gone downhill and I do not like that the assisted living across the street where she lived is not as nice of the public spaces as it is across the street for the independent care that is my biggest ripe of this place the people who need more care and pay higher cost have a lesser aesthetic in their common space and that did irritate me. I'll be up. It irritated me more than my mom. We moved her to a different company/facility not because of care or quality of care but more due to location. I do like that the forum has memory care and skilled nursing. It was a nice place for my mom, but I would explore pricing of other places when you're looking at this place, this place is good but also is expensive comparatively.

We moved Mom to the facility in Upper Arlington after she broke her hip. Great physical therapy team and great facilities. But the one thing they lacked was humanity. They didn't care about Mom, just the checks my sisters and I were writing. Back to The Forum. Not the gold standard for facilities, but certainly good enough and they are upgrading constantly, but more than the Gold Standard for the assistance we received and the help from the entire staff. Mom passed a couple of weeks ago. The nurses and hospice people that took care of Mom were in tears. Genuinely. Love this place and you'll be blessed if a family member has to be there.

Wow. I am surprised by all the negative reviews for Heartland. My experiences have not been like…read morewhat other reviews have shared. My Mom has had various health issues over the past year. In February, she had fallen a few times in a weekend and became very weak. After a brief stay in a hospital, the doctors determined she had come down with a UTI. The hospital recommended that she go to a skilled nursing facility for temporary care to build up her strength and allow her to recover from her illness. Hospitals don't give you a lot of time in finding a facility. In searching for a facility I needed one that was close in proximity to me. I came across Heartland. They provided me and my sister with a tour of the facility and explained their services. They have both semi-private and limited private rooms. They offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional staff, 24 hour nursing care and assistants, activities center and more. The facility was very clean and bright. Conveniently located on Dublin Granville Road across the street from La Scala restaurant. Lots of parking available for when you visit. I admitted my Mom to Heartland where she spent five weeks recovering. Her overall care was great. Mom even liked the food. She needed physical therapy, occupational therapy as well as speech therapy. The staff were very friendly, busy helping patients, listened to my questions or even concerns about my mom's care and therapies. Staff were always prompt to respond when my Mom used her call light. She received excellent nursing and treatment care. In fact, one of the underlying medical issues that my Mom had been struggling with for a long while, they were able to develop a treatment plan that has helped her control her condition. The various therapists worked closely with my mom to get her back to her normal self so that she could come back home. The reason I do not give them a five star is because of communications. I have not had to go through something like this before. Administration, nursing, therapy and social work staff would all listen and even engage family in helping come up with the best plan for my Mom. The challenge I had was that being unfamiliar with their processes as well as "who's who" that I needed to work with was frustrating at times. There were a number of different departments and services engaged, it was challenging knowing who I needed to work with for which services. As I became more familiar with the facility as well as talked with their admissions / customer service staff, I was better able to orient myself and then able to interact more efficiently and effectively. Right before my Mom was ready to come home, my sister fell and fractured her femur. She wanted to go to Heartland. So, when I was getting my mom discharged we were admitting my sister. My sisters experiences have been similar as my Moms, except she is a little more particular about their food. It's not home cooking, but still decent. Pleased by the progress my sister is making here. So, not only would I recommend the services here, we have had the occasion to use them for a second time.

It took a long time for the call light to be answered, this was one of the less severe things. The last weekend he was there (Nov. 2-3, 2019) he had an aide that was rude and abusive. She was frustrated that he was not eating his lunch (he was on full liquids) since he was tired and kept falling asleep. After a few times, she moved his bedside table with all his liquids (including his water) against the wall, out of his reach. He could not get out of bed, so he could not drink any of his lunch or his water. When I got there and asked him about it, he told me what had happened and also that the aide had slapped him in his private parts area. I did report this to the nurse; she came in and my husband explained what happened to her. She said she would take care of it. My husband had to be taken to the ER on Sunday night/Monday morning. Once there, I saw he had a bedsore on his back. The staff at Heartland was supposed to be checking him daily to make sure that the pressure bandage on his back was still there and he did not have a sore. Obviously the aide that slapped him had not checked him for several days. The pressure bandage was rolled up in the bedding that came with him from Heartland. I went back to Heartland to advise them of all of this; at the Monday morning staff meeting they had not been advised of the slapping situation by the Nurse. I don't know if the aide was fired or suspended, but she should not be working with people in this type of situation. I would never have anyone I care about go to this facility again, since we had this horrible care shortly before my husband passed away. No one deserves to be treated like this.

When my 84-year-old mother got out of the hospital after having pneumonia, she was extremely weak…read moreand bed-ridden. My adult brother and sisters hoped that we could take care of her on our own until she recovered. We soon realized that although one of us could be with her most of the time, we needed some help, not really medical help because she had visiting nurses and a visiting physician. We need a caring person who could help her get to the bedside commode, keep her hydrated and just try to make her feel better. Our wonderful sister-in-law took it upon herself to try to find caregivers that would care for our mother like us. She scoured the yellow pages and called Granny Nannies. After speaking to the owner, Heidi, she was so impressed that we set up a meeting with an aide for the very next day. We all met Paula, a retired RN, and liked her immediately. She started the next day, sitting by our mother's bedside, helping to make her more comfortable and coaxing her to eat and drink. Then, several days later, we needed help overnight because our mother was very restless and needed someone to be right there with her during the night. Although some of us were coming in from out of town and my siblings who lived there were often spending the night, we were simply not equipped to provide care during the night and then try to work during the day. So, Angelina came to be with our mother so we could sleep. After several weeks, we moved my mother to my sister's house nearby so my sister was there during the night if my mother needed her, although the aide was right there with her. My mother was slowly getting weaker and needed constant attention because she was unable to do anything for herself. Finally, we needed a third aide to be there from 3pm until 10pm to have coverage the full 24-hours a day. So, we called Heidi again and\, like before, she sent another lovely young lady to meet us. Sara began the next day and we were her first clients with Granny Nannies. She was so wonderful with our mother, sat with her and watched the old movies that our mother loved (but couldn't really see or hear too well), helped do everything she could to try to make her more comfortable. She looked up smoothie recipes online to try to come up with something "not sweet" that my mother would drink. The night before our mother died, Sara was talking to us about some candles and room sprays that might help our mother's anxiety or help her sleep better. After hearing her ideas, I immediately got online and ordered some vanilla and lavender pillow sprays that promote sleep. My mother died the next day and her Memorial Mass was a week later. Both Heidi and Sara came to the Mass to pay their respects. I and my entire family can wholeheartedly recommend Granny Nannies if you need help caring for loved ones. When I met Heidi after Mass, she said that she has an elderly mother and she would not hire anyone that she wouldn't have care for her own mother. It was very difficult for us to even consider bringing in outsiders to care for our mother and we knew she would hate having strangers in her house. But after meeting Paula, Angelina and Sara and seeing how they interacted with our mother, we thanked God that we had found them. And our mother was, too, because, weak as she was, she would take their hand and lay it against her cheek and say "thank you."
