Very unhappy. Clearly understaffed and totally unreliable with service timelines. A month into the season and my boat is not in the water for Memorial Day weekend. The slip rental is supposed to start on May 1. Despite being able to operate the boat in the fall and having the team do a considerable amount of work over the winter (without everything being put back together yet as of this week), today I find out about a new purported problem that will delay launch. Even if this is the case - even if my engine was total trash (which isn't the case) - I should not be first finding out about it a month into the season after having proactive winter work done. The marina is becoming "closed" without letting outside vendors/mechanics do work on the boats there. I shudder to think how much time I'll waste dealing with unreliable information and delays. The marina was already unhappy that I had someone put a sound system in (which took less than 2 weeks and was on time). When would the marina have gotten to that - October? read more

Not the Marina for sailboats. If you are looking for a mooring where you can relax and enjoy the sunset after a day's sail, SHSB is NOT the Marina for you! This is an uncomfortable, bumpy spot. The slips and a few shallow moorings inside the breakwater may be OK. Amenities promised by Memorial Day still not available. Dinghy dock annoyingly overcrowded. No diesel. No issues with the on-sight staff who are all friendly - but Safe Harbor's aggressive marketing department over-pitched and over promised on this pricey marina. read more

Safe Harbor Sunset Bay - Marinas Near Me - Hull, Massachusetts

Very bad experience here. We had our 36 foot sailboat stored here for the winter, not knowing what a poorly staffed, badly run marina it was. The manager was rude and mad all the time and swore a lot. Though we paid quite a bit for storage, he demanded we launch our boat as soon as the lift trucks began for the season, which was April 15th. He needed the space, so screw the customer. Despite the fact that the wind was blowing 3o knots and the seas were rough, he insisted we launch. The whole side of our boat was slamming against the pier so hard, out teak was destroyed, cleats broke and the fiberglass scratched and pitted, and we were forced to call Sea Tow to get us off the pier we kept slamming against, while they threw down a few deflated fenders. They had no idea what they were doing and anyone who stores their boats there, should know they have no idea what they are doing and do not care in the least if your boat incurs damage, or some one gets badly hurt, like my wife trying to stop the boat from smashing against the pier. We filed an insurance claim, but there is still smashed teak and damaged hardware we haven't had a chance to fix, but now that we will be in a different, competent marina, and the season is over, we will have a chance to. Also, there were young people with no masks or eye protection while painting the bottom of boats. Inhaling bottom paint and the caustic chemicals in boatyards can lead to some really nasty health problems, not that the manager would care of course. read more

Best kept secret on the south shore. Amazing views and sunsets, the staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly and the amenities are top-notch. Huge plus -a beautiful, private beach is only a short walk away. They are constantly updating the docks/facility which is no easy task given its location. The break water addition in recent years was clutch in protecting the boats and marina. We could not be happier with our choice of marina and have made this our summer home. read more

We just moved from Scituate harbor to SBM because our old marina wasn't able to accommodate our bigger new boat. We can't believe our luck in landing a slip at this great marina. In Scituate, despite tight slips and painful fees, our only amenity was a port-a-potty! At Sunset Bay, in addition to fabulous views, sunsets, and generous slips, there are multiple dock hands to assist with docking, private members only restrooms and showers, washer/dryer, and a fun restaurant and bar with large decks and those unbelievable sunsets. Cheryl, the manager, and Paul, the dock master, are incredibly helpful and everyone is super friendly. They have a number of fun activities, parties and a concert planned for members. There were two previous reviews (both interestingly posted on the same day early last Spring) with pictures that purported to show poor maintenance. From our experience that couldn't be further from the truth. After serious damage from this winter's storms, Paul and his crew appeared to do a heroic job repairing and replacing docks and floats and the entire place is clean and well maintained. We needed a dock box- Cheryl was able to order it for us (at a significant discount over West Marine prices!) and for a small fee they installed it perfectly. SBM is all about service, service, service- we couldn't be happier! read more

Rented a slip on a Saturday night and couldn't have been happier. The marina was well run, the staff super friendly, the docks recently updated, etc. Hull, virtually unknown to me exceeded all expectations. A quiet section of Nantasket Beach was just a few blocks away, nice breakfast joints in walking distance, and a brew pub with amazing views was right at the marina. It's a genuine New England seaside village right there in Boston harbor. read more

My first thoughts of the marina were it looks a little run down. If you look closely the dock boards are falling off and screws are popping up so wear shoes when on the dock. Horrible place to be if there is a storm they don't call it wave land for no reason. Personally witnessed the marina launch four boats without the plug and almost sank them it's a joke of an operation. The price is very expensive and you don't get great accomidations. They say free wifi but you need to get a booster for your boat if you want it. The shower and laundry facility's are of something you would find in an unfinished basement of a back alley dungeon. And they don't drain so you have to wade in this horrible sewer water while showering. The staff is friendly there for I give it 1 star. The Managment is beyond poor and it shows. I would go elsewhere if I were choosing a marina. The price is the same as lots of other marinas in the area and the other marinas have top notch service as well and facilities. Where as sunset marina does not. Most of the docks are leaning or crooked. They claim to be a full service marina. But it's more like a full service joke and dump. I would spend my money elsewhere with a marina who cares about the safety and well being of my boat family and the environment. read more

I've been there at both a slip and mooring. Excellent marina. It is a complete make-over and upgrade from the prior marina of a few years ago. They do a terrific job, very attentive and the staff (and other customers) are very friendly and helpful;. Even if you are not going out boating, it is a cool place to hang around in the clubhouse or on the docks. read more
