The dedication benches placed throughout the park for leisure and rest time. They even have an activities building. Check out the signs throughout the park, to see the local Habitat in the Pond. Pets on leashes are fine they even offer waste pick up bags to promote healthy environmental habits. This massive space is yet another wonderful park in Berwyn. Visitors , Be respectful of the. What interested me about Brookfield Woods compared to the other trailheads nearby is that it is the mile marker starting point for the Salt Creek Trail System. As an outdoor fitness enthusiast who has been running for years, I would categorize the difficulty level as easy because the terrain is flat! I encountered mostly walkers, a few joggers, and many recreational bike riders along this path. While on it I felt that peaceful sense of being in nature as I heard birds chirping, the wind blowing, and the sound of the flowing salt creek which was off to my left while going out. I even got glimpses of chipmunk and squirrel running across my path; some even startling me at times when close by which also kept me in the moment during my hike. On my turnaround, I encountered a Canadian goose which I am absolutely terrified of! I am even known to alter my run routes just to avoid them out of fear of being attacked! It hissed at me as I went around it; it is like it instantly got its little goose panties in a bunch. I swear my heart rate increased as I eased by it because the last thing I wanted to experience was getting my ass kicked by a Canadian goose. That is a losing situation that I am unsure how I will bounce back from, but bye bye goose! I spent a little over forty-minutes during my hike on the path but could have easily gone longer if I were running instead. There are a variety of activities you can conduct on the Salt Creek Trail System path which extends 7.1 miles out; some of those activities I can certainly see are hiking, running, walking, biking, or even in-line skating. Other than my encounter with the Canadian goose, I had a pleasant experience on the Salt Creek Trail System as indicated in this review and would return. As a runner, I can see myself returning just to explore more of the Salt Creek Trail System. ~An adventure a day keeps the doctor away. ~ Thomas G

And it was so crowded, we left after only a mile. It was hard to maintain social distance on the paved path while avoiding the many bikers, roller bladers, and walkers. We found a few quiet side trials that each led 200-300 feet into the woods, but due to recent rains, those paths were very muddy, then flooded. We did find some moss. And some pretty trees and plants. So we hung out in the woods, then got out and went home. Pros: Free. Free parking. Clean trials. Plenty of parking. Paved trials. Not too many mosquitoes. Con: this trail goes through residential areas. We were literally passing inches from backyards of homes, yards filled with people. Fair enough. It is their home!! But it felt weird to just walk past their backyard while everyone is outside doing family stuff.

I call it a "hidden gem". Unless you turn down a side street off the Main Street; you would never know it's there! Nice walking paths. Built in table and chairs throughout. Many nice benches. Very well cared for. Nice children's playground with soft ground area. Places to park your bike. There is a Pavilion area that may be accessible soon, its under construction. This is located in a quiet and nice neighborhood, West of Oak Park Ave. 1/2 block North of Cermak Road. It runs several city blocks that lead to Harlem Avenue. Many places to eat, barber shops, salons, Tony's Large Supermarket nearby, Office Depot, Pet Stores. Very large indoor shopping mall nearby West a few Blocks, North Riverside Mall. With a New Cinema with Full Recliners. Bus stop is on Cermak Road as well.

There's no services here--you won't find nature center or anything, but there are lots of benches, some picnic areas, and bathrooms. Birding is a popular activity here. In fact, I was here for a program called Owl Prowl because it's starting to become a particularly good time of year to hear them (not see). I think it was the Great Horned Owl and the Screech Owl that we were on the prowl for. I learned that screech owls kind of sound like a horse when they neigh; that was unexpected. Eggers Grove has varying terrain and that is welcoming to birds that don't stop around here in other places, and it's a good place for migratory birds. I was here after dusk so I'd like to visit sometime when it is light out to see the area. It's popular for hiking. There is a humongous parking lot, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a place if you venture out here. Humongous parking lot so many spaces you can park here with your friends family your high school senior class.

Twenty-Sixth Street Woods offers paved paths as well as unpaved paths. You truly get the best of both worlds. This is great because if you go on a beautiful, dry, sunny day, it's nice to walk along the creek on the unpaved paths and enjoy an even more rustic experience. However, the paved paths are also wonderful to walk and bike on...even when the ground is wet. That a huge benefit of finding the woods that have paved trails. Be aware that snow is not removed during the winter months. These paved paths are also great for biking and for individuals who need accessible paths. I've been here several times and plan to continue enjoying all that these woods have to offer. In fact, I understand they have a boat and canoe launch. I'll be on the lookout for it.

This park is absolutely beautiful. I love the different trees but my favorite is the evergreens. And, I love that all the flowers and grass are native to the prairie land. There are two nature walkways enclosed by flowers and shrubs on the south and north side of the west end of the park. Walking through the winding paths brings me very close to nature. It makes me feel like I'm somewhere else.

Quite a bit of shade and lots of woodpeckers as you might expect. Plenty of parking right off of Rt 59. Not the Elsen's Hill side off of Gary's Mill. This side is the neglected stepchild of the Dupage Country Forest Preserves in my opinion.

There is a small parking area for you to park your car. The field house is located in the corner for you to use public restrooms or maybe even have small birthday parties, gatherings or events for the kids. Even though my son is now in college. I still love to come back here and channel into my kid zone. I sometimes will grab a book, lunch and come and sit on one of the nice size rock and enjoy the weather. I also, still like to get up on one of the swings and enjoy the great spirit of seeing how high I can swing into the air. You can also enjoy walking along the parks path.
