It pains me to write this having to relive the horrible experience we had at this dealership in my head, but after reading through the other reviews for the past two years it really makes sense why this place is the WORST. As stated by other Yelpers, the salesman and finance guy (probably the same one I was harassed by) are bullies, condescending, rude, don't give one shit about the customer and only care about making that deal. My fiancé and I went in on Sunday February 14. We were greeted by a younger salesman (who was obviously new but did a great job and treated us with respect). They didn't have the Challenger we were looking for, but said we could go inside and take a look at what other surrounding dealerships might have. I wish I would have just gone back to my car and left. We sit down for not two minutes before the "bigger" salesman Jason came over to wrangle us in and take us over to his computer, like it mattered. So, he finds a Camaro freshly detailed they had in the back, brings it up and I have my fiancé test drive it with me in the passenger. Its low miles, custom exhaust, wheels, etc. Needless to say it was very nice and we were ready to buy that day. We go sit down and he prints off an invoice for pricing, and at the bottom of the sheet basically chicken scratches a paragraph stating we are interested in purchasing the vehicle if they can get it out the door tax and license within my budget and goes to check with the finance guy. I sign (fully under the impression it was giving him permission to check with his manager) and before Jason goes back he looks at my fiancé and asks if we want to buy it, and my fiancé responds "possibly". We go back outside to look at the car while were waiting Jason comes out and says lets go sit down and I said we are going to take a breather and talk a little bit and make sure we are making the right decision dropping 25k CASH on a car. Jason stares back at me, now scowling so I ask "What" and he says "I'm just wondering why you signed this paper" and then STORMS off into the back. About two minutes later he brings what appears to be their closer guy, we sit at a table my fiancé next to me and the finance guy across from me and he said so what's wrong with the car? I'm like what... there's nothing wrong with the car I have told you twice now that we need to take a look around make sure I'm not going to just make an emotional decision and buy this car on a whim. And he responds, "Well where'd we go wrong?" Let me paint you a little picture. While finance guy is staring back at me, he literally begins to arch up taller in his chair, poof his chest out, and look down at me. To my left is Jason the salesman standing angrily looking down at me with his arms crossed. While this "intimidation tactic" is happening, I directly let them know "I don't like how I'm being treated" and I ask the finance guy, so basically me signing this HANDWRITTEN note is saying I am liable to buy the car. The finance guy responds "yes." (with beard and brown hair) asks me THE EXACT SAME QUESTION again and impatiently says "we're in the business of selling cars here" as to say you buy this car now because you're wasting our time. At this point I feel like I'm going to cry, so I say ok I'm walking out. As I'm leaving, the asshole says CONGRATULATIONS as I walk out the door. Congratulations at being horrible at your job? Yes. Pros: They had a nice Camaro Cons: Use a lot of games and intimidation in order to sell cars, as mentioned by others Do not care about the customer's opinions No prices on cars Extremely aggressive and belittling Cliché grease ball car salesman NOT patient NOT flexible to customer's needs I want you guys to know, if you had treated me with respect and patience (hmmm what does that word mean) I would have bought the car day of and been writing a five star instead of the ever embarrassing and business strangling one star. But instead, I had the most horrendous experience ever at this place. I will never ever be back, and neither will my friends and family or anyone else I talk to regarding buying cars. So because Jason and the finance guy chose to be aggressive and impatient assholes you guys lost A LOT of business and frankly I'm pretty turned off to Chevy's from here on out. That has a lot to do with why I bought a Dodge:) I GET you guys are selling cars. But there's no reason to treat people like that. Ever. I was considering Sunset Chevrolet for my next vehicle, which I'm in the market for a new car, until I heard the experience from a friend of mine. -- him and his family have bought several cars and trucks over the years from this place! And than a warranty issue arose on a truck my friend owns, they basically told him he's shit outta luck, the guy was a total dick to him, and they didn't even offer him a loaner truck! They told him not to drive the truck that has the issues. I mean My friend has to get to work somehow, right? - they didn't care. They told him not drive the truck for the next week until they can see him. Now it seems to me, if I spent close to a quarter of a million on vehicles at Sunset, I would expect to be treated like royalty. I am appalled to hear how my friend was treated! We have bought cars and had vehicles serviced there since 2001. We've always been very pleased. Two weeks ago I called for a repair estimate and was told I would get a call back. Called two days later. Same deal. Promised a call back. Four days later called a third time. Told the phone person I had not gotten called back twice. No "sorry". No ownership. And guess what. No call back. So, I moved on, but decided to call the service manager "Tim" to voice my issue and to nicely let him know his people were not following through. Talked with the service manager. Did get a quick "sorry" but then a whole excuse about how busy they are. Oh, and he did NOT ask or get me my estimate. Beware of Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner. I have never had to leave a negative Yelp review ever & I wish I could give them less than 1 star. Lets start from the beginning of our experience with them today 10/27/15. My fiance & I found the used 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe they had listed online and were excited because it was exactly what we were looking for and close to us. We showed up in our new GT500 and immediately were met by Craig the salesman, we went to the Cadillac and started looking it over, he popped the hood & started it for us. After looking over the car my fiance & I knew this is what we wanted & after letting Craig know we were extremely interested we asked to take it for a SHORT test drive & he informed us we would not be allowed to do so. Craig went on to say that it was a supercharged Cadillac & that they are hard to keep in a straight line & that they wouldn't let us take it out... All we were thinking is we just drove here in our new supercharged Shelby GT500 Mustang with over 100hp on the Cadillac we were trying to purchase....? We as buyers felt discriminated against because of our youth and there perceived notion of our buying power. Not only did we show up qualified but we finally found the Cadillac we wanted in our own backyard. Never in my life have I been talked down to in a way which has made me feel inadequate & embarrassed. After this happening we informed Craig that he had just lost a sale & we couldn't leave fast enough with what we had left of our pride. A few minutes later I decided to call & talk with the dealership manager Jason on our mistreatment. As expected he backed his salesman Craig even going as far as to informing us of his 322 car sales per year there. After a few minutes into the conversation I could tell Jason did not care what had happened and I knew there was no point in furthering the conversation. I have made several expensive car purchases over the last few years from Land Rovers, Jaguar XKE's & my most recent Shelby GT500 and have never been treated so poorly. Integrity can be hard to find at car dealerships. Though another sales guy had me drive all the way down (100+ miles) with no similar truck to compare to one I was interested in: : I choose to focus on the positive. Mr. Bishop took a look at the deal offered by another dealership, checked his inventory and inventory readily available, established the deal I was getting at the other guys was incredible, told me the deal I was getting would net the dealer zero profit and sent me back to them. 20 minutes, max. This was an incredible experience, as salesmen never let you leave. He didn't jerk me around or waste my time. I got the truck I wanted from another dealership, but Mr Bishop earned my future business through integrity. read more

I'm 65 and this is the worst experience I've ever had in purchasing a new car. Let me start with the dealership: it is on a rather small lot, and as a result they store their inventory not only in neat rows, but also willy-nilly through-out the aisles making it extremely difficult if impossible to drive through their lot. There is very little customer parking, and at times they store vehicles in handicap parking. I was witness to this. We've had a car into their service dept, and we have no complaints there. However, getting through the lot to the service dept is a chore. As far as buying a car: the dealership seems to whine a lot about making a profit. They tack on an extra $1999 above the MSRP to the sale of the car stating that they have a right by Washington law to do so. When I spoke to the manager about this, and even though we told him how unhappy we were at being charged more than the MSRP, he wouldn't budge a nickel off the price. You would think to foster goodwill, that Sunset would work with us a little on that extra charge. But no, it was all about them and not about their customers. They offer free oil changes for life with a purchase of a new car However, you are REQUIRED to attend one of their meet and greet/workshops to activate the free oil changes. If you don't go, then no free oil changes. I don't like being coerced like that. We purchased a new truck in 2016 from Gilchrist in South Tacoma. They also have free oil changes on new vehicles, but they don't require you to attend a workshop. After we got the new car home, we realized that they didn't put the temporary registration in the rear window, so we had to make an extra wasted trip back to the dealer. The buying experience - Since we want what we want on new cars, we tend to factory order them to our specifications. However, our salesman, Doug, ridiculed us for wanting to factory order a Malibu stating that people tend to get weird stuff on cars which wasn't good for resale. Really? I thought that a car salesman was all about getting you into a car that suited your needs. He immediately changed the subject about factory ordering and skillfully steered us to buying cars already available. In hind sight, I should not have been manipulated by Doug into buying an "off the lot" car. We finally settled on a car that fit most of our needs. This is the first time I've had to "settle" for a car. I am not totally happy with what I got ... or didn't get. I was really wanting the touch screen guidance system. It wasn't until we took possession of the car that I realized that it wasn't on this particular car. The car did have a package that had a touch screen, but there apparently was a different package that included touch guidance that I was unaware of. If I was able to factory order a car, then I would have caught that as we would have gone through each available item. While showing us the features on our new Malibu, my husband and I were in the front seat and Doug was in the back. The engine was running, but I guess the heater wasn't turned on as Doug leans up from the back seat pushing me aside to turn on the heater. I thought that was rude. Oh, yeah, he was also chomping on gum while his face was inches from mine. He then wanted to show us how to sync up our phones to the car. He asked if we brought our phone chargers with us as he had to hook our phones directly to the car via USB. When we said no, he got upset that we hadn't. No one told us to bring them. He found some in the office, but all the while kept complaining about it. That was unprofessional. I would recommend Gilchrist over Sunset any day. They were professional, they worked to get us the best deal on our truck without whining about profits, they didn't coerce us into attending workshops to activate our free oil changes, and they certainly didn't tack on an extra $1999. read more

Worst service organization; worst customer service.....I purchased a car two years ago...two days later the heater went out. They promised me a rental car free of charge while they fix it.....had an appointment and three hours later i finally get my rental car. I year later the heater goes out again! I make an appointment making sure they understood i wasnt willing to wait three hours again. He said no we will have a car here for you. Storm hits...power is out surrounding the area. I call service department to ensure they are still making appointments (who wants to drive thru a storm just to get there and they are closed) i was told YES we have power and are open. 10 minutes later i arrive and the guy tells me "due to the power being out we are not going to get you a car" we have to wait for enterprise to drive from puyallup, pick you up take you back to puyallup do paperwork then you'll get your rental car. Seriously sunset, thats the best you can do. And there is no point lying....as you were talking to me you were typing...clearly the power was on. With two kids in my car i was forced to take my car home and deal with NO heater or defrost until the service department can figure out how to have decent customer service. And by the way, what do the girls do in the service department sitting on stools texting on there phone? Sunset, your looking pretty sloppy! Pretty sure i will not buy another car from you based on my horrible experience twice..... read more

I bought a 2007 silverado in late 2006 and i have never been so happy about the sales team what a great job and fast to usually u set there in this little cubical while the salesman leaves you to talk to the sales manger and the finance dept. and about a half hour goes by and then the salesman says (here's what we can do) so you thank i wonder how much the insurance will cost me can i really do this. so after about 3 hours you are sighing papers and getting the keys handed over to you. Well you still have to do all that but cut the time in half. so if you are needing or wanting a new car, truck, or SUV with a great price (that's right i said great price) but you ask how do i get i great price. well let me tell you with there low overhead and already low prices how can you go wrong. so see the friendly staff at sunset Chevrolet. tell them Dan sent you. read more

Spoke to them because I had some friends brag about their service, Started the process which I knew was going to be hard due to my history. There was a gap in the communication for a couple weeks. I received a call from my sales person who broke me some bad news (was kind of expected). Gave me some advice and said he would help me with some information. another gap in communication as it never happened. I dont enjoy games and the run around. 9/18/19...... With Steve Bishops help , we have purchased our 6th vehicle. Includes another truck...2017 Chevy Silverado. One ton, 4x4, long bed...all we need is a chauffeur...Cranberry Red...it's GORGEOUS and Kurt (hubby) LOVES IT. Nine months ago we purchased a 2018 Chevy Equinox Premier Diesel, Silver....it was beautiful. August this year I had an accident. I was T-boned in it. Air bags went off and the drivers door destroyed....$30k+ damages. Totaled with 8080 miles and 8 months old. By the grace of God, no serious injuries. "ON STAR" responded immediately. I WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT THEM....EVER! Went back to Sunset Chevy....purchased ANOTHER Equinox. This time 2019, dark gray. I LOVE IT. Again, they came through. Worked with Steve Bishop...he is AMAZING! SUNSET STANDS BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES! I bought a used Jeep Wrangler from Sunset on River Road recently. After owning the Jeep for a couple of months, I took it in to the Jeep dealer to check out a noise I was hearing. The Jeep dealer's service department said that whoever installed the gears didn't do it correctly and they were shot. (Sunset did not install the gears. This was done by the previous owner.) The Jeep dealer wanted almost $2,500 to fix it, and the warranty was no longer valid, due to the modifications. I took the Jeep to Maximum Performance, who I know is a great shop and they said the front end was also shot. They wanted $2,800 to fix the whole thing. I called Sunset and was immediately connected to their GM, Greg. I told him what was going on and asked if they would stand behind their vehicle. Greg immediately said they would take care of me and asked that I bring it in so his guys could take a look. Sunset ended up fixing all the gears and all the bearings for the front and back end and it didn't cost me a penny. He never fought me on it or even hinted that they wouldn't take care of me. I was both extremely happy and shocked at the same time. This is how all dealers should do business. Unfortunately, everyone knows that you don't always get this kind of service at car dealerships. First, I came in and traded my 2013 Jeep wrangler ( first mistake) for a used 2013 Dodge Ram Texas long horn mega cab Laramie 2500. This truck was impressive. 60,000 dollars impressive. Had all the toys, 6" lift kit, 35's, aftermarket iron cross front and rear bumper , 12k lb winch. LED light bars. AMAZING truck. So to being my nightmare. I have lifted trucks and jeeps and other vehicles. I know the headaches they can cause for maintenance and warranties. this was not my first rodeo. I made it very clear from the moment I sat down with the sales rep and the finance manager that I wanted the truck - but - I wanted to make sure it had a warranty for the lift. they offer an Extended warranty from a company called "CORNER STONE" and when they sold me this - this is what I was told. the warranty protects the truck 100% engine, trans, you name it - covered. I asked does it include the lift kit because I know the headaches they cause for maintenance and also warranty issues and the finance manager MARRISA TINKERSLEY said yes the extended coverage covers the lift, she even pulled up the contract and showed me the section that is labeled " lifted" to add the coverage and she explained that this is the contract they offer for lifted trucks to also protect the lift kit. so after that , I agreed. no brainer right? I mean it added 5,000 more to the cost of the vehicle but it was worth it. or so I thought. about 6 months go by and I bring the truck in for some check ups - I had some weird issues with the truck and the techs say the truck is fine - another year goes by I bring the truck in to this dealership again or the same thing, weird issues ( rough sound, tough suspension, transmission issues etc) I get my truck back they say its fine. so another 6 months go by and I go to a DODGE dealership and man o man the nightmare starts... dodge finds a TON of problems, and they find issues that were pretty old from what their techs had to say - so I bring the truck back to this chevy dealership to get help. my lift kit is mangled and I need to have other work done to it to check the transmission - well they refuse to help me because why? ... well they cant fix lift kits . so they tell me to use my warranty - but I am told that I may as well buy a new lift kit because the warranty company WONT FIX MY KIT. .... the very same warranty that I was told does cover my lift DOES NOT and this is told to me by ROBERT the manager in service. I was given three options. FIX it out of pocket. Keep it unitl it fully breaks and hope my car insurance covers it OR trade it and get out of it complete and take the deficit .... not joke. this is what I am told to me face. well fast forward and here I am 2 years later after this headache with this Chevy dealership now with a busted lift kit from faulty shock towers that failed and snapped - and I mean snapped off. I contact the warranty company and they tell me to have my truck inspected by another servicer and inspected by their appraiser. I play this game - I find a shop willing to work on my truck and I wait a couple of weeks to have an appraiser from the contract company to come out and they send my paper work in . so far the total is about 5-7,000 bucks of work to be done. and that does not include my engine, transmission, or steering system that needs to be looked at yet. this is just the lift kit CORNER STONE calls me back and to put it straight I am S**T out of luck and my claim is denied. why? because my truck is LIFTED and the contract DOES NOT cover the lift.... it only ALLOWS you to have a lift on the truck and not void any other maintenance to OEM parts like it normally would. THIS WAS NEVER TOLD TO ME or shown to me when I purchased the contract and my exact questions were if this contract covers the repairs of a lift.... MARRISA TINKERSLY sold this contract to me under false representation and lied to me as a consumer - even showed me the contract and presented the contract in a manner that would lead a consumer to believe that the trucks lift kit is covered. Corner stone said they are not liable for a company that misrepresents their product. understand that. this dealership has been very unhelpful. the only thing they did was take my truck in for a couple of days ( after I brought it in to them 2 previous times for this issue) to do a better inspection and give me a loaner truck for 3 days - great job .... Long story short. if you buy a modified vehicle DONT unless you get a better description of what contract you obtain. i was lied to on the true coverage and now i have a badly damaged truck and i have to foot the bill of over 7,000 dollars to have it fixed. i would give them a 1 star but they helped me a little bit so i give them 2. good luck - but go to a better dealership. i spent 60,000 on an amazing truck that is now a nightmare. do not do what i did read more

After only 4 months of driving FORD F150, my engine was firing on 4 cylinders! I called Jim Triggs, he gave me phone number for Herbs Towing, Sunset's Perferred tow company they drove 75 miles one-way to pick up me and the FORD. I live in Marysville, Washington! After checking with the used car manager and the Sunset owner, Jim called back promptly saying no problem, we will repair you truck. Triggs set me up with a rental car, and my long time Service Guy, MIKE ODOM got the ball rolling on the repairs. A week later Mike Odom called saying the truck was ready, and to please leave my wallet at home. Yes the repairs, the towing and 3 days rental 100% covered! My friends ask why I continue to drive 75 miles to Sumner to buy my vehicles? It's simple I believe no other Dealership will to provide, or even come close the same quality service consistently year after year as I have received at Sunset Chevy. Could not even imagine how Sunset Chevy service and sales could ever get any better. I bought car here and have only had it serviced here. That being said, I open my hood and 4 clips were missing from my overhead hood blanket, a week after I had my tires rotated one of my lugnuts is missing. I know they damaged another part of my undercarriage as well, but I didn't notice it right away because it was on the passenger side and I don't normally ride as a passenger in my car. I bring all this to Sunsets attention when I take it in for my oil change and they want me to pay for the parts they broke or lost. My grandparents went to buy a vehicle yesterday and placed their deposit for pick up of their truck today, and when they came to pick up "THEIR" truck they were told sorry we already sold your truck. Very disappointed in the level of service received. After returning a second time to have them correct the reinstalled steering wheel, it is still not correctly aligned. We purchased a premier extended warranty bumper to bumper on our used Tundra. The radio, navigation system went out. The warranty company will not cover it. I was told by the warranty company that radios are not covered. Sunset told me we signed the contract and it is what it is. We are out $244 in diagnostic charges with the Toyota dealership and it needs $3600 in repairs. I will never shop Sunset again, and I will tell everybody I know not to shop there. read more

I had a great experience at Sunset Chevy service department. They were very courteous and efficient. The service advisor went above and beyond to explain to me what my vehicle needed without making me feel ignorant about cars, even though I completely am! I bought a ford taurus from this guys. First don't get fool speaking with anyone emailing to you cause they'll tell you all sorts of stupid stuff like come and have a test drive and even take the car home for a day and let us know what you think. Thats no real. My test drive day was a traffic day so I did not get to drive far or get on the fee way so that I know that the tires are all worn out causing a wobbling to the vehicle. Non of that. So after 2 days I was trying to get on Uber driving and they fail me because the tires are all not safe to carry passenger so I contact them back let them know that some shop inspect my vehicle and recommend me new tires for the vehicle. My car is a 2013 ford taurus still runs great 58,000 miles on it but tires are less than 30 percent threaded, almost flat plus when we close deal ready to go. One tire was low low, so I say I will add air on my way home. So I add air on 2 fronts and couple days I had to add more on them. So call them again and they told me to bring it in and I brought it believing they will finally do something with my tires if not replace for newer ones or something but im sorry to tell you, this guys are caring way more for their big paychecks than your safety. Good customer service. It took a while to take delivery of my used truck, but they took the time to do a proper safety inspection and fix the issues prior to my taking delivery. BEWARE!!!! Sunset says they have a limited life warranty but when you go to them with an issue supposedly covered per the policy they will deny your claim. Went to them to fix a small issue with seat belt and air bags, after paying almost $1000.00 of our own money for the "diagnostic" they told us part was on back order and gave us back out pickup without functioning airbags. Second time our rear differential went out and was told they wouldn't cover as the truck was still "drivable". Sure if we wanted to drive in 4 wheel drive the whole time! I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!!! read more

My husband and I are planning on starting a family soon and needed to replace my 2007 Jeep Compass that was quickly becoming to small and inefficient for us. We began researching family friendly cars last week and had decided we wanted to look at Hyundai vehicles for their ratings over the last few years. We had heard that Korum in Puyallup was running a deal for Boeing employees and giving them and incredible discount on vehicles! So we went down wanting to look at the Hyundai Santa Fe, it was a nightmare. They ran us around looking at vehicles way out of our budget especially considering part of our loan for the jeep would have to be rolled over. The man that helped us actually had us looking at 40,000 dollar vehicles after I had specifically asked him to look at the numbers and work backwards so we wouldn't be looking at vehicles out of our price range! Later after three hours of horrible service, no one listening to my husband and I and a manager that didn't have time to talk to use we asked for our keys and they didn't want to give them back! The very new sales man wanted us to talk to the manager which up unto this point did not have the time or decency to talk to us. Needless to say when we finally left we decided to try one more lot, and boy am glad that we did! We were quickly met in the lot between 7-8 p.m. by a magnificent man by the name of TOMMY COFFEE! First of all his name is epic, but his customer service was well over outstanding. We immediately felt like Tommy was listening to our needs, concerns, financial restrictions and our emotions. He had us drive a 2010 Hyundai Tucson that was stocked to the roof with extras and let me tell you it was amazing! It felt secure, safe, comfortable and he let us drive it until we were really comfortable. Do you know how when you buy cars the portion filled with numbers is always a frustrating blur? Yeah well we didn't feel that this time, he really worked with us and the manager to figure out a set of numbers that would really work for us. Which was hard because with the roll over from the Jeep loan and our lack of a down payment because we are in the midst of fertility problems and have already been through one round our savings was tapped. But Tommy and his manager made it work! They found a way to make it possible for us to walk out with an upgraded car that night! Furthermore, the next day on our way to the fertility clinic in Seattle we noticed that the late night detail was a bit messy and that we hadn't noticed the night before when test driving that there was a very annoying and unfortunate chip in the drivers line of sight. We called Tommy that day and asked me to bring the car back in on Monday, upon doing so they had a vehicle for me to borrow while they re-detailed it and replaced the window. They were again amazing! We will never buy another care from anywhere else and will be sending all of our friends and family here in the future. From the growing Johnston family thank you very, very much! read more

Went to trade in our car and manager test drove car , without know what he or she was doing pushed a bunch of four wheel drive buttons and turned our dash lights into a Xmas tree! Kevin Shaw at Sunset Trucks did a fantastic job helping me to find what I needed. After texting back and forth over several days, I called in the evening to inquire on one I was interested in. He promptly answered, and when I mentioned that I would swing by near closing time, he quickly got the vehicle ready for a test drive, and had the guys at Sunset stay late so we could take it out in the evening.
