Easy to find with Google Maps. Lots of parking right in front of the restaurant. Only 50% full Sunday at 10AM but by 11AM was 90% full. Staff were friendly and people who got coffee got multiple refills but my water was never refilled. Menu is as posted online. I love seeing the calories on each menu item! Love the note that an average adult needs 2000calories per day and my wrap was 1640! I tried the Meat Lovers Breakfast wrap. 10/10 good. Loved the portion, mixture, how much meat was in it, taste. Definitely recommend and will be back for again. I liked that "home fries" were hashbrowns and not French fries. I was pretty disappointed in my "Veggies" - 2 carrot sticks and ranch. Carrots were fresh and crisp but portion was super cheap. Boyfriend got the California Benedict. Was very happy with his but he wished he could have chosen to get 2 eggs. Friend got the Eggs Sunset. She loved the hollandaise sauce and portion. Everyone easily finished their plates but were full after. Very happy with the food here. One minus star is the seating. Tables are Soooo tight. My friend had a bigger man sit behind her at the next table and she had to sit with her chest against the table so he would fit. Not pleasant. My experience was so bad it was almost comical to be honest. My friend and I met for brunch on a Saturday - I was really excited because I love their avocado toast! As another reviewer mentioned, it's cramped in here. As soon as we sat down, I remembered why I never come here. It's uncomfortable. After sitting for quite a while, we eventually had to flag somebody down to take our orders. We both ordered the Avocado toast plate, which comes with eggs. I asked for mine to be poached medium and to come on the side. When our food arrived, I noticed a hair in with my eggs :( Again, I flagged our server down so I could point out the hair and ask for new eggs. I know that poached eggs take a while, so I started on my fruit cup while I waited. and waited. and waited. Nobody came back to the table to give an update or check in, and the eggs never came. Eventually, I ate my toast. I had also ordered an iced coffee, but after a few sips, I couldn't drink it. It tasted like water and cream. I would have sent it back, but I never saw the waiter again. Once we were finished our meals, we waiting for somebody to at least bring the bill. Still, nobody came. I took my near-full glass of iced coffee to the counter, where our server was standing behind the till, looking at his phone. He didn't even notice me walk up, until I put the glass down on the counter in front of him. I asked him if my eggs were still coming and he looked confused - I don't think he even remembered that there was an issue. I asked again and he just smiled and stared at me. So I said we were done and wanted to pay. I also told him about my issue with the iced coffee. He removed the iced coffee from my bill, and then discounted the rest by $2.49 (the cost of the eggs I guess). No explanation, no apology. And hardly even an acknowledgement of the issue. So, I'd give this one a two star review for my family. I would likely give it a 3.5 myself but my wife actively dislikes this location so we don't go anymore.The coffee is awful. I mean it's truly awful. Replace the things to brew it, buy different beans and maybe get someone that loves coffee to try it first and tell you if it's been improved. The wait staff were kind of mediocre. There was nothing overtly wrong but just not fully attentive. Some waits to get things and not a lot of follow up.The food and coffee and prices are the main problem. Charge less and get better ingredients, portions and recipes /cooks. If I can make the same thing at home for better and cheaper, then I won't go out. Like I said, I personally would go here once a month if it were just me cause I like to go out and eat eggs. My wife never wants to go back so we likely won't be back. Ps what folks said about it being uncomfortable is true. The person that designed the layout either was a dude with no taste or a lady that wanted to maximize the amount of customers they could have at once time. Redesign the layout and seating so it's more comfortable. Folks in st albert are willing to wait for a table in line. Not sure how I have missed reviewing this breakfast spot in the past as it is our "go to" in St. Albert for an affordable, tasty breakfast close to home. I typically prefer to support the smaller, independent breakfast spots over chain restaurants but Sunset Grill has just kinda become "our spot". We were big fans of it before it closed for a year (what was that all about exactly?) and have continued to support it since it's reopening last year. Nothing here is "standout" and it is pretty basic breakfast fare but it is always consistent... fresh and tasty. The ladies working here are always so sweet and service is excellent. Pricing is reasonable and I love the peameal bacon option, which is rare out west compared to eastern provinces. A good, solid bet for breakfast in St. Albert! read more

Worst place in St Albert. We showed up and shown to a table and there was absolutely zero room to sit. Tables are so close together it's stupid. And then everybody else is getting to order and we get missed. Even people who came in after us got served first. And when we ask to be served on, we got a very angry look from the waitress. Snarky waitress too. Then $4.25 for a tablespoon (little dish wasn't even 1/2 full) of "strawberry preserves" which is just ED Smith jam (seen it on their shelves). Complained about the "preserve" portion and more (about 1 1/2 tablespoons this time) was brought but was going to charge us another $4.25! Told them to take it back. The waiter walked away smirking and chuckling. Don't waste your time amd money. Stay away. $40 + tip for coffee, tea, french toast, strawberry preserves and a waffle. read more

We used to go here on a fairly regular basis. Fresh is something that has gone by the wayside, apparently it's ok to cook bacon and leave it on the side of the grill for hours. When it's reheated, it doesn't get better, it gets hard. Eggs should not drip oil when you lift a corner, and you can see yourself in the reflection on the potatoes. The service since the re-opening is nothing short of awful, as somebody mentioned below, a translator and a missing persons investigator is required to get a refill of ice. (and yes, you read that right) As mentioned, we used to go there, last weekend was the last time. and for some reason, this review won't post and there's no indication why not. read more

This place just opened! One of the interesting things is that most of their pre set breakfasts come with 3 eggs. Im trying their bacon but I would like to know more about their breakfast sausages and jf their eggs are free range. I like the decor with wood tables and chairs, low hanging lamps, and retaining walls that make the tables more cozy. They also have an open kitchen concept where you can watch, smell and listen to them make your breakfast. Their standard breakfast with three eggs, choice of bacon, ham or sausage and toast is just under $10 and i dont think the coffee is included. So compared to other breakfast joints in the city its a little expensive but the third egg is good. Im not a fan of their home fries cuz they weren't crispy but they did look like they are made from real potatoes rather then boxed crap. read more

This place is pretty good for breakfast. When I was checking out the menu, I was searching for something simple. The kid's all day breakfast was a portion that's was perfect for me. It included one toast, one egg (I chose poached), 2 slices of bacon and a side of home fries. At first I was shy to ask if I could order from the kid's menu. Often times my eyes are drawn to senior's or kid's menus, due to the smaller portions. When you start mentioning multiples of eggs, toast, bacon or whatever, my mind just thinks "too much!" I was actually very happy to hear I was able to order the smaller portion. The food was cooked well. Not too greasy. Overall, this place is satisfactory. I found the service fairly quick and the servers attentive. The prices were very reasonable. I found the surroundings clean, relaxed and pleasant. It's nice to come here if you are in St.Albert and aren't in the mood to cook breakfast or if you don't want to go to a restaurant chain. read more

I had the Sunset Super and my wife had the Turkey Bacon and eggs. The portion sizes were very generous and the food was good. Actually my wife found her portion size too big and wishes they were smaller portioned options available but that would really be the only complaint. We went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't overly busy, the staff was really friendly and we were in and out very quickly. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is very pleasant at first appearance, it's a typical chain restaurant place. However, that's where the pleasantries end! Let's talk about service, more like the lack of service. Simply, I think the wait staff thinks customers are a bad thing - go figure! It could be that the wait staff are busy doing something else or simply English or French is a third language to them. Let's just say ordering is like being on a 3rd world game show. Let's talk about the food or what passes as food! Today, I ordered Eggs Benedict but what I did order was a moldy English muffin underneath - bonus! The Canadian bacon was stale and the hollandaise sauce still had powdery grit left from the disgusting mix they make the sauce from - YUCK! My colleague's meal was also borderline disgusting! I won't go into details because you get the picture. The whole experience made wonder why would anyone in St. Albert voluntarily eat there, because there a ton of better breakfast places in St.Albert. Visited around 1 pm and found a table for 4; bit tight on the one side for seating. 2 coffees, 2 juice, the 3 Choc chip pancakes, waffle, eggs sunset (like a 3 egg Benny) with perfectly cut home fries (hash browns) and a side order of toast was $50 and change. Was there once before and was ok. Recently there again on a Sunday morning for our second visit. Not early. Not late. It was not overly busy either. A number of empty tables were evident. We were seated and provided a tea within a few minutes then waited about 25 minutes and no one took our order. We paid for the tea, left and went to Smitty's and received prompt service. read more

My husband, our 12 year old son and I went to Sunset Grill on a weekday morning for breakfast. I ordered an omelet, my son ordered French toast, and my husband had the smoked salmon. My son's plate slid off the table when he was cutting his French toast and almost all of his food ended up on the floor. He was mortified! The staff were so kind. They helped him clean it up and then made him a new meal as a surprise! We didn't tell them but it was his birthday. He loves his traditional birthday breakfast out before school and was so embarrassed that he made such a mess. We were so appreciative of the team's kindness and generosity. My omelet was fantastic. My son said his French toast was terrific. The smoked salmon was good but the portion seemed a touch small. We had a terrific experience and will be back! read more

This used to be my favourite breakfast place until it reopened recently. It has a different feel. I debated for weeks about writing this review but can't give it the 5 stars that it previously deserved. Food is plentiful and decent but service is somewhat lacking. For example, coffee refills are rarely offered when it is a full house. I'd go back as the family likes to go here and it's close to home, but I'd just go in with lower expectations. Hopefully Sunset Grill returns to it's former glory. read more

This place is a disappointment. The menu is fairly standard for a greasy spoon type of place. The food was average tasting. The service was decent. The restaurant and atmosphere is the reason I gave it such a low rating. When you walk in the kitchen can be seen. The seats are fairly uncomfortable- basic cheap wood chairs and tables. When they seat people they like to seat everyone close to each other. I understand this decreases the area of coverage the servers need to watch. But, I found for the number of people in the restaurant is was VERY loud. I also watched and our server was sweeping the floor in the other section and before she went to get our food she just used the purell sanitizer on and then got our food. I think in the food service industry they should be using soap and water in between cleaning and serving or prepping food. The grossest part was when she served my pancakes. It says it comes with butter... duh. They gave me three of the little plastic packets of butter. I went to take the top of one and it was already open and the butter had been used from it. I noted when she took my plate away at the end that one and the one I hadn't used she left on the table so my guess is they keep those to serve to next people. It's fine to reuse things that are unopened- but they need to be cautious of this as it is completely unacceptable and disgusting to essentially be served someone else's garbage. And like any other greasy restaurant place it has the characteristic smell. Would definitely not recommend. read more

We just had breakfast/lunch at this restaurant and I had to say, we will be back. The service was very fast, it is definitely not a "relaxing" restaurant in that it is quite loud but thats to be expected when you have an open kitchen concept. Food was good. I had the clubhouse which was the perfect sized portion, not overly loaded. Husband had the Canadian Burger, said he'd not have a burger next time as he thought the meat tasted "different". Didn't say bad but said, he did't notice if they used Alberta Beef or not which could be the difference in the taste. Potatoes were excellent and for those complaining about the decor, are you serious? That is not a cheaply made restaurant right from the tile flooring to the stained glass light fixtures. We will recommend it to our visitors. read more

Basic breakfast eatery..nothing exceptional. Orders usually come with 3 eggs, if you ask for 2 there is no price break. With they would cook their hash browns differently as I don't like the deep fried ones. Service always good, place is always clean. read more

Went on a Wednesday morning. Ordered a traditional bacon and three eggs (scrambled) with toast. The food and coffee arrived quickly. The bacon was very tasty, but as someone mentioned earlier, the potatoes were not all that crispy but rather soaked heavily in oil. The scrambled eggs were also drenched in oil (oddly enough it tasted like coconut oil). I notified the waitress of the greasy potato issue and although I kindly declined a fresh batch of potatoes, nothing else was done to rectify the problem (I would've expected a small discount on the meal as a gesture or at least an apology). Considering this is a new establishment, I would probably go again but maybe in a year or so, enough time for the management to work out some of the kinks. read more

Went there today for lunch, liking the fact we were supporting a local business. Service was not great, most of the staff were huddled together talking ...received our meal, not impressed. Romaine lettuce spines were our burger lettuce??? Yuck. Burger had NOTHING on it, the waitress just passed me small packets of condiments. How annoying. The "fries" as they call them, were just left over hashbrowns from breakfast I am sure, as they were cold when I got my plate. The "veggies and dip" it says it comes with were one carrot stick, two small brown celery chunks and a packet of ranch. For 13 dollars a burger, I expect more than packets. What horrified us the most, when we went to pay our bill, we waited again for service, then to have to wait for our bill (there were more staff in the restaurant than customers) we watched the girl that was dressing the plates do it with her BARE hands ! No gloves, no nothing. She reached up, ran her hands along the inside of her cap, then proceeded to finish dressing the plate ! So disgusting. If I had seen that first, I never would have eaten there. Not a good impression for a new business starting out in the midst of a ton of other restaurants St Albert has now to offer. read more
