    Huge breakfast
    Rooty T.

First visit was a pleasant breakfast Saturday mid-morning. I ordered 1 scrambled egg, wheat toast, turkey bacon, and home fries. My partner ordered 2 egg whites, and un-buttered wheat toast. What we were served was hearty portions of a cooked to order breakfast. My meal came with 4 meaty pieces of turkey bacon. I ate half at the restaurant and the other half the next day. Our server 'Emily' was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a large counter section which provides a nice view of the staff at work, and preview of plates as they come from the kitchen. Reasonably priced menu, fresh baked breads, muffins and other items, + prepared dishes to go offers a nice variety of meal options.

    Turkey scramble with grilled veggies

Decided to try this little diner out and I'm so glad we did! I love diners with counter service; Sunshine had nice low seats and plenty of booths. We were greeted immediately with coffee (diner coffee, nothing special)they do have a full bar and the couple sitting next to us had bloody Mary's which looked yummy. I decided on the turkey scramble with grilled veggies instead of home fries, they gave an array of hot sauces so I added a Chipotle hot sauce which added a nice smokey heat. The jellies are from local preserves do I had the orange marmalade on pumpernickel. My husband had french toast with a side of bacon which was cooked to crispy perfection. We will be back to try the huevos rancheros!

Great "remake" of the Sunshine Cafe!

Bad food, way overpriced. 2 slices of old bacon, undercooked eggs, dry overcooked home fries.

The atmosphere is quiet but also bright and enlivening, aiding in productivity without being overly distracting. I love the setup of the cafe with comfy couches and chairs for lounging sprinkled among typical tables and benches for working or having a meal! Also, they have a free chess board for playing with friends over coffee which really speaks to the relaxed communal vibe of the place. Overall, I loved the energy, but I didn't expect to also love the matcha as much as I did. Being that it's not something they're known for and the drink was on the cheaper side compared to other matchas, it was actually incredibly smooth and creamy (just pretty sweet so be prepared). Only other negative I could mention is that service wasn't overly friendly, but otherwise, it wasn't terrible either- it was quick and helpful, so I definitely enjoyed my stop here and look forward to returning to try their other menu items!

The place itself was clean, neat, and not very large. We ordered the regular eggs Benedict (around $21) and the chicken and waffle eggs Benedict (around $30). Between the two, I definitely preferred the chicken and waffle Benedict. It was more savory, whereas the regular eggs Benedict also savory but came with a red sauce that was surprisingly sweet when I was expecting something more traditional and savory. Overall, I would come here for a special occasion, as the price point feels a bit high for what you get. You can definitely find a similar eggs Benedict elsewhere for cheaper. That said, I do recommend trying the green hot sauce they have. I thought it paired really well and tasted better with the dish.

It was packed when we went for a later weekend reservation, we had to wait a few minutes for our table, and it was loud and raucous inside. I suppose it would be difficult to mitigate this with such a small space unless they started seating less tables inside. Service was friendly but we waited maybe 40-45 minutes for our food. They are only a few months old and kitchen may have been a bit overwhelmed. I got the beef and lamb bolognese which was a good texture and nicely flavored. My husband got the steak frites which were a little bit salty but we enjoyed them and the truffle fries were crispy and fresh. We also shared a donut (I think it was a Oreo cheesecake flavor) which they make to order. It was on the sweeter side but you can't really mess up freshly made donuts and we gobbled it up. I would come again, maybe on a weekday earlier dinner instead next time. I'd love to try some other things like the duck.
