This café was a little hole in a wall location is in a strip mall within Clinton, Massachusetts. My children live in Lancaster, so they are very close to this location. We went for brunch and I must say it was an excellent experience. Our waitress was exceptional. I cannot recall her name, but she gave us top-notch service even though it was just her and she was very, very busy. She was grateful for our patience on waiting a couple of times, but I honestly think everyone should have a little more patience lately. It is quite cute for a café/diner inside. The best part for me was that they had a special specialty in gluten-free items, especially around things that I can normally not find in breakfast locations. They get an A+ for that. What a fun little hole in the wall dinner. Went in this past Monday president's day and were treated to some wonderful singing by the owner. She has such a great vibe that we instantly felt cozy. I ordered my usual cheese omelette with tomatoes and sausage and my on dove into a bagel and egg sandwich. We also ordered some French toast for the table. Update: their Taco Tuesday promotion is downright horrible. We did take out. Honestly, the worst food we've had anywhere in quite some time. Messaged them to discuss our experience - they saw our message but have not responded. Rice was hard - hard enough to crack a tooth on. Guac was too salty to eat. The meat in tacos had a weird maple syrup flavor and the quesadilla was hard and skimpy, made with cheddar cheese, instead of mozzarella as stated on menu. I think the quesadilla was $13. Over $30 with tip. In the garbage. ANY place else would be better, even Taco Bell. We can forgive the bad food. But no response? Not right. Original Review: Best home made corned beef hash in the land! Their breakfasts are great, the other food is average. Haven't tried the Polish menu yet. Looking forward to trying that. Was really hoping this place would continue to improve but sadly it seems to be headed in the wrong direction lately. Cleanliness, quality and service have declined and prices have gone up. Welcoming vibe with yummy food. We were driving through town on the way back from Leominster and decided to give this place a try. We were greeted warmly, served well, and had a great brunch. Everybody seemed to know each other, and chatted to brainstorm places for us to visit in the area. We had the cinnamon bread French toast (with real maple syrup of COURSE) and a spinach Benedict. First visit was a pleasant breakfast Saturday mid-morning. I ordered 1 scrambled egg, wheat toast, turkey bacon, and home fries. My partner ordered 2 egg whites, and un-buttered wheat toast. What we were served was hearty portions of a cooked to order breakfast. My meal came with 4 meaty pieces of turkey bacon. I ate half at the restaurant and the other half the next day. Our server 'Emily' was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a large counter section which provides a nice view of the staff at work, and preview of plates as they come from the kitchen. Decided to try this little diner out and I'm so glad we did! I love diners with counter service; Sunshine had nice low seats and plenty of booths. We were greeted immediately with coffee (diner coffee, nothing special)they do have a full bar and the couple sitting next to us had bloody Mary's which looked yummy. I decided on the turkey scramble with grilled veggies instead of home fries, they gave an array of hot sauces so I added a Chipotle hot sauce which added a nice smokey heat. The jellies are from local preserves do I had the orange marmalade on pumpernickel. My husband had french toast with a side of bacon which was cooked to crispy perfection. From beginning to end, wonderful experience! I called to place a take out order and the girl that I spoke with was very helpful as I had a few questions. She was friendly & patient. We truly appreciate that there are so many Gluten Free options available as we have a family member with an allergy. I was greeted with friendly smiles when I arrived to pick up our order which was so refreshing!! It's rare to get friendly customer service these days so I REALLY appreciated that!! We dove into our food as soon as we got back home & it was awesome! Everything was there (no missing items, which happens often with other places) & our food was DELICIOUS! Despite the circa 1970's decor, the breakfast was great. I was meeting a friend and our waitress kindly let us have a relaxing meal and time to talk even after we were done. I live about 6 mins away from Sunshine Cafe so it's my to go spot so i go there very often & i've always supported their business, but i went there on Sunday & got the nastiest service. I walked in & one of the waitresses told my sister & i to wait to be seated. We waited for about 10-15 minutes so i just asked if i can place a to-go order, as i'm saying that, a group of people came in & got seated immediately.. I don't want to make this about race but I am a black woman & the everyone else was white including the group of people who came in. I felt so uncomfortable. Apparently at the sunshine cafe there is a solar eclipse. The waitresses are just plain liars. I ordered the good morning sunshine special and the waitress asked if i wanted pancakes instead of toast, she also told me there was no upcharge. Lo and behold i get the bill and they charged me $15 when the price was on the menu clearly 8.99 and she told me there was no upcharge. I complained and the liar short order cook said "she was doing you a favor only asking 15 instead of 19 which was the usual price for pancakes. Thats funny, i couldve sworn the liar waitress told me there was NO upcharge, along with the menu saying 8.99. Also, the food is piss-poor. i recommend right up the street, John's sandwich shop. Our server was hanging out right next to our table as we waited 30+ minutes for our order in an almost-empty restaurant, our "bottomless" cups of coffee long empty.A tuna melt looked like it was topped by cheese drippings scraped from the grill and was not served on rye, as described by the menu, and bore no resemblance to a melt. Three orders had something off (fried eggs vs scrambled, home fries vs hashbrowns, wrong juice). The Sunshine Cafe is a hidden gem in the small town of Clinton, MA. Our waitress set the tone by welcoming us warmly and bringing coffee right away and then kept it coming. She also remembered that my breakfast companion was drinking decaf. Our breakfast was excellent. We both decided on the cinnamon french toast, so our waitress told us that she'd bring a single large order because it was less expensive than ordering two smaller orders. It was a huge portion and absolutely delicious french toast. Definitely spring for the "real" maple syrup instead of the bottle on the table -- if you're eating french toast as good as this you MUST have the real stuff. We also shared an order of what was listed as home fries, which were not really home fries - no onions. But they were well-cooked potatoes, crispy and not greasy. Add some caramelized onions and they would have been perfect. My friend and I spent more than 2 hours catching up and making yummy sounds as we ate. I wish I lived in MA so I could be a regular at this friendly and tasty cafe. read more

Incredible new brunch find (for us)! Got brunch after blueberry picking at George Hill Orchards and the food is served in HUGE portions, really cheap. The $4 egg n cheese sandwich is served with potatoes, the build your own for $7 for 3 items, and $9 for 4 items. Fast, great service with "Sunshine" smile haha! Potatoes are cooked outside of animal fat (for the vegetarian amongst the group) and the turkey bacon was cooked in a pan to avoid the pork for me! Great great option. read more

A wonderful new spot in Clinton. The breakfast portions are out of this world. The food is exceptionally fresh and the owners and wait staff are courteous and friendly. We will definitely be making this a regular spot for us. UPDATE: moving my score to a 5. We continue to come here and everything is just great, all the time.
