Decided to try this place because of all the positive Yelp reviews. Have nothing against a hole in the wall, but the service was atrocious. One waitress for about 30 people and she was helping in the kitchen. We were asked 3 times if we wanted coffee, which I declined 3 times. Gave up on getting our order taken after at least 20 minutes, so who knows how long it would have taken to actually get our food. The waitress kept dropping food on the floor and had plenty of time to lead some random kid to wander behind the counter to help himself to something. They have to be paying off the health inspector. Understand when places are short staffed, but when you get attitude for leaving that's just not cool. The waitress told us "you'll just go wait somewhere else." We went somewhere else and in the same amount of time had our food within 20 minutes. read more

I am retired and travel full time. I recently completed my "Quest" of 49 States and their State Houses. I always get a thrill when I find a "Diamond in the Rough". The Sunshine Cafe is my most recent discovery. The owner, and cook, along with the Staff could not have been more hospitable. Not good , Lady took too long to give us coffee , didn't even give cream, also lady couldn't count and when we told her we were leaving she was getting a attitude and was telling us thank you for being rude , let's not forget how as soon as she told us to give her a minute with the drinks but then goes to another table asking for drinks and starts a conversation with them , she gave them their drinks way before ours even tho we were here first , also tried to charge us 25$ when we were leaving saying it was 25$ for coffee but we didn't even touch it because she didn't give us cream, yet we still gave her the 25$ and was still being really disrespectful overall 1/10 never coming back to this place , was here for vacation and ruined our day. read more

Sunshine Cafe, a liltte establishment located on buffalo Ave! They offer a variety of menu items from breakfast to lunch! My first experience here I ordered a breakfast burrito and a few breakfast sandwich for myself and coworkers, this place is reasonably priced and the service is beyond fantastic. Kinda give you that home feeling which I enjoy. Finally got to introduce the family to this place and after the first bite they fell in love, now all I hear is"can we go to Sunshine" from the kids that is lol. Such a cute little local place. They are FAST and pretty delicious too. Definitely an above average diner. She treated us the second we stepped foot inside, and had a pot of coffee at the table we chose before we were fully seated. She came immediately for our order, checked on us all throughout the meal, kept our cups full. It's just the one lady it seems doing all the table service. She's very efficient and friendly. Friendly little greasy spoon place. Waitress was very nice and attentive, knew every other person's name when they walked in so must be a popular local spot. Got my coffee right after seating and she kept it filled. Got the Carla's Special. 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, 2 sausage links, hash and toast. All pretty simple, standard diner stuff. Eggs with a slice of American cheese mixed in. But it was served quickly and hot. Squeeze bottle of mystery hot sauce was good on the eggs. Not entirely sure but I think the waitress (maybe owner?) was doing everything from taking orders to cooking to serving. Didn't see a cook back there. Sunshine Cafe is a really homey neighbourhood restaurant for breakfast or brunch. The interior does feel a little messy and need a little scrub down. The deco is totally retro as I doubt they have any renovation since they opened. Make sure you check out their daily special on the chalkboard. My Apple Stuffed French Toast was light and filling. If you are looking for some home made goodness, give Sunshine Cafe a try. Service was friendly and laid back. So it may not be a good option if you are in a rush. Cash Only! read more

Came here late Saturday morning and the place was not that busy. The place has about 7 tables and a counter to sit at. Decor was old school and was pretty clean. The female server greeted us and placed the paper place-mat menus on our table and asked us if we want coffee. We gladly accepted and she came with a couple of cups. The coffee was not bad. There were mini creams in a small bowl on our table already. The menu has many breakfast items that are reasonably priced such as bacon/eggs/toast for $4.99, which I ordered. It took about 20 minutes for the breakfast to be prepared which seemed a bit long, but it arrived hot. The eggs were good and the bacon and toast pretty good too. Our coffee cups were topped up by the server. All in all this was a decent place for breakfast. read more

So glad we made the trip to this little diner. As soon we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. Sunshine Cafe offers a wide range of options on their menu. There are even a few of the menu options named after some of the 'Regulars'. My husband and I have strict dietary restrictions and the kitchen staff was more than happy to accommodate our needs. Our first time in Niagara and found Sunshine cafe on google "things to do". Not only was the food amazing, I had steak and eggs and my bf had the meat platter with eggs; Lisa is such a literal ray of sunshine. She has such a warm spirit and gave us GREAT recommendations for our trip, so far we've done everything she said and this has been a phenomenal trip. She told us to wait until tomorrow, after it snows, to see the falls and based off all of her other recommendations being great, we're gonna do it. I can't wait to see the falls, I know they're going ti be breath taking like she said. If you need some great food and a great trip adviser, Lisa and Sunshine cafe is your best bet. Place was amazing. Looks very small and uninviting to out of towners, but everyone was super nice and the menu was really surprisingly big for a place mat menu. It feels like a restaurant run out of someone's kitchen, the coffee mugs, and plastic cups similar to those someone would accumulate over the yrs. This only adds to its homey charm. A big thank you to the Routhier family I forgot my cash and without worries they let me run and get some. This diner/cafe is family run. The customers are typically the locals but they treat the visitors just fine. I got a fresh blueberry waffle and the "mixer" which is potatoes peppers onions eggs and meat mixed together and served with toast. Everything was delish and filling! Visited here with 4 people. Waiting time is unreasonably long, taking into consideration that they serve mostly pancakes and eggs. After 30 minutes we received pancakes, eggs, sausages and waffles. One the meals came without ordered toasts. Waited another 15 minutes for toasts to arrive but had to leave as my food was already cold. The don't wash cups and plates, just rinse and serve to another client. Saw it with my eyes. Avoid this place if you don't want to ruin your morning. read more

Let me start off by saying I despise giving mom and pop restaurants a bad rating. Most of the time, I wont leave a rating at all verses giving a bad one, but this, This was quite BAD! My husband and I were in the neighborhood and decided to stop in for breakfast. Most of the tables were full so we sat at the counter. No menu, no acknowledgement, but ok. I saw their menu board in the back and asked what the Stuffed French Toast was stuffed with. I got a very short answer, apple's. A few seconds later the waitress comes back and says its stuffed with apples, cinnamon, powdered sugar. Ok sounds good I say, but I asked. Instead of the links, could I get two eggs instead. By now we have menus and shes pouring our coffee. No! Eggs are extra. I'm told. I said well I dont eat pork, and my husband asks do they have turkey bacon. Yes! Ok! So I'll take the stuffed French toast with turkey bacon then. Cancel the eggs. Ok. And along she goes. The kitchen is just within feet and I can overhear her talking about me asking for eggs sarcastically. Ok, my bad, maybe... When the food comes, it looks great! I took a bite of the French toast and notice a long curly black hair on my plate. I quietly tried to get her attention, to point it out, and in response I got "ARE YOU SERIOUS!" She took my plate, asked if i wanted anything else and I said No just cancel my order. She scratches it off our bill, slammed down the pen, huffed and walked away. My husband gladly shared a egg, a piece of toast and some way undercooked home fries off his plate. By this time I'm not even hungry anymore and just wanted to leave. The total bill was less then $10 and we still left a 25% tip, which I regret. She definitely didnt deserve it. I will not be returning. read more

Very small, family owned restaurant. We were leaving Niagara Falls after getting engaged and wanted to try some local food. The people there were nice and it was good to hear how the locals are. I give this place 2 stars because I would have given it 4 if the service would have been better. My husband and I stopped by this local brunch spot on the way home from Niagara Falls. We wanted a quick brunch that wouldn't take up too much time and we like to support local businesses so we thought, this small local joint would be a quick in and out. Boy were we wrong. It took 15 mins to place our order and over 50 mins get our food. When we got there the place was half full. It's a cute place with a homey feel. They didn't seem busy inside but then they started doing a bunch of take out orders. Four tables came in after us and they ALL got our food before us!!! If you were local and they knew you, you got your food quicker. The waitress was very nice, however took her at least 5 mins to acknowledge our presence when we got there and never even apologized that it took so long for our food to arrive. We ordered eggs and pancakes!!!! How long could that possibly take??! When I heard the chef say that she was gonna start our order 50 mins after we ordered I wanted to get up and leave because every other order got done before ours. And it really only took 5 mins to make. I understand they were busy with take out orders, but you would think that the two person party that only ordered eggs and a pancake would get served before they spent 40 mins doing a large delivery order or every other order that came in after ours. It would have been different if we ordered a complicated menu item but it was literally eggs and pancakes. The food was good and tasty and the portions were decent and it was cheap but needless to say on my next trip out this way I will not be coming back. read more
