This is long overdue but not forgotten. Sunshine Child Care has been an absolute god send for me and my family. We originally toured almost 8 different daycares throughout the city (both in-home and facility run) and landed on Sunshine because it met many of our criterias: - affordable (not the cheapest but definitely didn't bankrupt us) - great reviews - clean and well organized home - most importantly, the people running it were amazing I sent first child at around 5 months and never truly worried about her safety or health. Both Derek and Fun were so wonderful and took care of my daughter that I knew she was in good hands. Then the pandemic hit. They had to shutdown during this time and even when some restrictions were lifted they chose to stay closed for a little longer to make sure they were truly ready and safe. We were one of the only families to come back to this location and I was worried about my daughter being alone. Luckily 2 other families joined (and we became a 'pod'- remember those?). During peak pandemic times, Derek, Fun, and (then later) Shelly became my kids' second family. I'm pretty certain at some points my kids loved Funfun and Shelly more than me (can't blame them). When I had my 2nd I had no doubts and popped him there as well. Both of my kids have now outgrown/left but both still think fondly and miss Fun/Shelly. Also, I want to give Sunshine credit for helping teach my kids to read/write at an early age. Both of my kids could both sound out and read by the time they were 3! We love Sunshine and am grateful for all they've done for my kids during those early years. read more

We love Sunshine Child Care! Amy and all the teachers are truly amazing--caring, kind, and always full of positive energy. The daily schedule is well-balanced with plenty of arts and crafts, songs, dancing, and outdoor playtime. Our older daughter started here at just 16 months and has had a wonderful experience over the past two years. One of the sweetest memories for us was on Mother's Day, when she surprised us with a song and dance she had learned at daycare. It completely melted my heart. Now we're so happy to have enrolled our younger daughter as well, knowing she'll be in the best hands. We would highly recommend Sunshine Child Care to any parents looking for a daycare that feels like home. read more

My son started going to Amy's daycare when he was about 7 months old, and I feel truly blessed to have had Amy, Ming Ming, and Hebe caring for him over the past 2.5 years. During his time there, he has grown so much and learned many important things--like letters, numbers, and how to play and share with others. Most importantly, he had a wonderful time every day, surrounded by people who made him feel safe and loved. Now that he has just started preschool, I can see how much the daycare helped prepare him for this next step. The kindness, patience, and support from everyone at the daycare made a huge difference in his life, and in ours as a family. We are so grateful for all the care, teaching, and happy memories that he will carry with him. read more

Sunshine Child Care has exceeded all expectations we could of hoped for. Not only do they provide EXCELLENT child care, they also give parents peace of mind knowing their child is in the best of hands. As soon as my daughter was enrolled, she stopped getting diaper rashes because the staff was so attentive to all her needs. In fact, she felt so comfortable with their care that she was napping without any problems within days of enrollment. Sunshine provides nutritious food that even your toddler will eat; my daughter ate better than she does at home! They also provide much more learning than the average day care. Shelly taught my daughter her ABC's, how to count (in English & Mandarin), reading/writing numbers, shapes, tracing, arts and crafts and much much more! The care was so superb that I even delayed my daughter's preschool start date! The level of care Sunshine provides can be seen in their attention to detail. I was so impressed by daily pictures and updates. The updates are personalized and show a deep understanding of your child and their growth. They also go out of their way to make all occasions special. From holiday celebrations to the customized birthday parties they throw for each child, they truly go above-and-beyond!! Derek does an excellent job managing the day care. He is professional, kind and very prompt in responding to all messages. He was always understanding and flexible with our family. I felt that Sunshine really took care of our whole family, supporting us and always hearing out our concerns whenever my child was going through anything. I could not give a higher endorsement. They truly are a wonderful day care! read more

If you are looking for a daycare, this is the one! Amy is wonderful teacher and rest of staffs are great as well! Our daughter loved this place and they taught her arts, mandarin, math and love! (They cared for her so much) Now she has to go to pre-school and we are very sad to leave this place. Amy is like a family to us and she has been so so good to our child. Also, there covid measurements are top notch! Super clean daycare. If you are looking for a daycare, this is the one and you won't regret it. read more

Amy and Mei and the rest of the teachers at Sunshine Child Care are are the best. Both of our kids went to Sunshine at the 100 Arleta location in Visitacion Valley starting around age 4 months through about 3 years old when they transitioned to preschool. Amy is like family. She treats the children as if they are her own and loves and cares for them that way too. Dropping our kids off there felt like we were taking our kids to their favorite aunts house. She feeds them, teaches them Chinese, plays with them, cares for them and helps them to learn and have fun. Even years since our first child left Sunshine she still keeps in touch with Amy bc she loved her so much. I cannot recommend Amy and the team any more strongly. We feel very lucky to have found her and have had a wonderful experience over the last 4+ years. Taking your kids to day care for the first time can be a scary experience for any parent but Amy makes sure you feel comfortable right away. read more

For the last 5 years, Amy has taken care of and watched both of our kids. I found Amy through Yelp in 2017 and immediately felt at ease the first time I met her. I was a nervous new mom, hesitant to go back to work with a 4 month old but I knew when I met Amy that I made the right choice. Amy helped make her nap schedule consistent and when old enough, she even helped potty train her! She taught my daughter so much and we were so happy with her care that we started my son at her daycare two years later. Amy is so kind and caring that she takes care of the kids as her own family. Some days she would make dumplings and pack some for our family. Even when my oldest transitioned to school, she would still save snacks(apples, crackers, etc) to give her when we came to pick up her brother. Outside of that the kids both learned a lot of Chinese and English under her care. Every week there would be a new song or dance they would learn. Her facilities are very clean(positive for the parents) and full of toys(positive for the kids ). With the onset of COVID, she was very quick to adopt policies and careful with ensuring she was up to date and taking all the right precautions. The experience both my kids had here was great. They learned a tremendous amount from Amy and the other teachers. Most importantly, they were safe and loved and cared for. If I could go back I would make the decision again in a heartbeat. I hope this review was helpful and spoke to someone who is looking to sign their kid up but overwhelmed and unsure by all the options out there. Don't hesitate to sign your child up for Sunshine Child Care-they will be cared for and in good hands with Amy read more

We found Amy's Sunshine Child Care 6 months into the pandemic and after seeing the measures taken to keep the little ones safe, we started sending our 2yr old to the Bayshore/Visitation Valley location. On top of all the standard measures of social distancing, temperatures, individual sets of toys - she isolates their belongings at the daycare to avoid contamination, changes and cleanses the kids when they arrive and cleans the place often. She and the other teachers really care about the children, creating lots of art projects, abc123 learning, singing, dancing, outside time. Amy is more like a family member to us as our daughter graduates to older schools and we are grateful to have gone to Sunshine Child Care. read more

My little one first started coming to Amy when she was 15 months old. As a first time parent and SAHM at the time, it was hard to trust that any body would take as good care of my baby as me. But after touring 12 day cares and within the first five minutes of meeting Amy, I knew this was the one. Amy is warm, nurturing, friendly, bubbly, patient and a baby magnet. Children love her as she cuddles them with attention, hugs and kisses - just what they need at this age group. I was a nervous wreck the first few weeks but Amy sent me a lot of videos and photos to reassure how well my baby was doing. They take a lot of pictures and videos so it is especially nice that somebody is documenting my baby's growth since I couldn't. I also especially appreciate how she doesn't skimp on food for the kids, loading them up with healthy fruits, veggies, Trader Joe's organic milk and yogurts. She only shops from TJ's, farmer's market and Costco and provides three meals a day and snacks in between so I don't have to worry about making extra dinner for my picky eater - whom only finishes Amy's cooking. It also helps that Amy speaks Cantonese and occasionally teaches Mandarin. I was especially surprised when my kid came home singing three mandarin songs! Her assistant Fun only speaks Cantonese and is equally caring. Both truly care and love kids and this can be seen in how happy and confident the children, including mine, have blossomed into. My little one just graduated and has been having a hard time going to preschool, asking every day to go to Amy's instead. She hosts an annual get together picnic every year and we are especially looking forward to it this time. We have a lot of sweet memories at Sunshine Child Care as Amy has become a good friend and miss it all so much! read more

Our 2 year old absolutely loves Sunshine Childcare! We were hesitant to place our girl in daycare during the middle of COVID, however as she got older, it became difficult to manage work and caring for our child. We toured different daycares but never felt safe enrolling our beloved girl until we visited Sunshine Childcare. My girl begin to play with their toys immediately and felt at home as if we were visiting our extended family. The staff at Sunshine Childcare are all wearing masks, they take our girl's temperature twice a day and change out their clothes often to prevent the potential spread of COVID. They cook delicious meals, my girl was a very picky eater but she loves eating Fun's home-cooked meals and has gained weight since her enrollment. Every Friday, she would come home with a craft project she did during the week, which is my favorite part. We can't thank Sunshine Childcare enough for teaching my daughter how to share, how to clean up after herself, how to get ready for nap time, and for introducing potty training before she turned 2. Fun would sit and pat my girl's bottom for 45 min - 1 hour until she sleeps for a nap or sit next to her for potty for 30 mins until my girl will finish her business. Shelly is great at teaching her the alphabet as well as Chinese. She would often sing her songs while doing her hair; my girl will come home with a cute hairdo every day. Derek would be sending us photos and updates of my girl's day which brings me to smile during a long day of work. It's great to see that every morning my girl will wake up and be happy to go see her daycare mates and laugh with joy when she sees Fun or Shelly during the drop-off. I'm grateful to have them as part of my daughter's life. I can tell that all of them truly care for the kids and loves them as if they were their own. With that said, I highly recommend Sunshine Childcare, your little ones will be in good hands. read more

Our family has been so fortunate to find Sunshine Child Care with Amy and Fun to take care our our little ones. Our oldest loved Amy and his daycare friends and still connects with them today. He left potty trained and socially ready for preschool. We now have our youngest in Sunshine daycare. They love and care for my sons like family. They provide the children with meals, outside playtime, and trips ( with parent permission) to Cayuga park or the mall for Halloween. I trust them and I'm so glad they are apart of our lives. read more

Amy, and her team, are incredible! Our (now 3 year old) has been with Sunshine for over a year and a half, and not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for having found this nurturing, supportive, and friendly daycare. Putting our 2-year old in Sunshine Child Care was one of the best decisions we made in 2021. Sunshine has provided us with everything we could want - endless learning, play, great food/nutrition, safety, and, most importantly, lots of love for our son. Amy is an amazing caretaker who treats our son like her own - we trust her as much as any one in our family. She is tireless, loving, and invests enormous time and energy to make sure her children have an incredible experience. She's also hired an excellent staff around her that has taught our son so much in such a short time - within a month of starting there, he started regularly performing new songs and dances for us at home. We couldn't be happier with our decision to enroll our son here! read more

Sunshine Childcare (Visitacion Valley location) is the best place to go if you are looking for a Preschool structured family childcare for your children in San Francisco. We've tried out several different places, but finally, we settled our kids here, because Ms. Amy is AMAZING! She has such a kind and big heart, she always gives kids organic food as possible, and she's really caring! She truly loves kids and feels very happy around them from deep of her heart, not just doing it for business, you'll know what I'm saying right away after you meet her in person. Your children will definitely be in good hands. The thing that made me love the most is the daycare is really well preschool structured, it has a very nice routine, PLUS they hired a professional teacher to teach them beginning phonic, math, and guide them through painting projects and music dancing activities. They have a very nice big backyard with a sandbox, kiddos have outdoor playing time under the nice sun before lunch and nap. After a well prepared nutritional organic lunch and a nice nap, they will have story time too, also followed up with some projects and games that will help kids to develop fine motor skills like Origami, cutting and tracing, etc. the last but not least is that they followed the covid sanitary protocol very well, the place is always very clean, and they wash children's hand very often as needed, and always supervise and remind children to keep the mask on during the day. I feel very safe and comfortable leaving my children there with Ms. Amy. My children always come back home from Sunshine Childcare with a happy and fulfilling day. read more

I had spent some time looking for a Mandarin/Cantonese speaking daycare for my son and I was so grateful to have found Amy. Sunshine has two locations now and both of them are fantastic--we live up in the Mission so we have to commute a bit to her place, but it is totally worth it. Amy has an incredible energy--she teaches Chinese songs, runs activities outside in the yard, organizes occasional field trips and picnics (trick or treating, for example), and cooks wholesome Cantonese meals (I feel really lucky when she offers me some homemade treats during dropoff too ;) ). Her home is really well set up for kids, and is a safe and happy environment in which the kids can thrive. My son (who is now 2 years old) is always babbling about his friends at daycare and singing random songs now even at home. read more

Our daughter has been with Amy for almost a year and she has absolutely thrived there. Amy is just amazing with the kids, she plays with them, cares for them and really treats them like they are her own kids. She has a very positive attitude and has plenty of energy to keep up with the kids. Her home is dedicated to the kids, totally safe and fun environment with lots of different toys and outdoor space. Because the group is small with two dedicated caregivers, the kids get a lot of individual attention. My daughter has learned so much with Amy, she talks a lot for her age and knows how to sing songs etc. They also provide several home cooked meals every day, and a huge variety of fruits and healthy snacks. Couldn't ask for more. Amy is also extremely flexible with hours (even weekend and overnight care is available), and her rates are very reasonable given the ratio of kids to caregivers. Also, I want to mention Fun, Amy's helper, who is so sweet to the kids. She genuinely loves children and really enjoys being around them. read more

My son has been cared for by Amy and her family since he was about 10 months old. He is now a year and a half and I am so pleased and grateful to have found a trustworthy caretaker! Amy is licensed, very professional and caring. Not only does she take good care of my son, she provides cooked meals, snacks and has organic whole milk stocked for her kids. She is also flexible with parent schedules, even open to early morning and overnight stays, which is hard to find. Lately there have been unexpected emergencies in my family and Amy has always been there to watch Rocky with short notice. I am thankful for Amy and her family, and I highly recommend Sunshine Child Care! read more

This is absolutely, hands-down, the best daycare for your little ones. Amy has been nicknamed "Mama" by every child there because she treats them all like they're her own; she gives so much love and attention along with teachings and activities to strengthen the their development and skills and healthy snacks and meals scheduled for every day. For over a year and a half, I've watched my daughter learn and grow so much from Amy. She came in when she was two years old and now that she's heading into preschool, I am confident that she has obtained the skills necessary to thrive in school. There have been many times when I had to convince my daughter to come home because she was just so happy at daycare and didnt want to go... but seeing how happy my daughter is and the other kids are at the daycare really allows me to feel comfortable while I am at school or work. And the variety of healthy, organic meals and snacks offered by Amy let me know she is growing healthy and happy and is well-taken care of. I'm dreading the day we will have to leave Amy. She has been an amazing caregiver to my daughter and she will be amazing for anyone who decides to enroll their child at Sunshine Childcare. She is more than just a babysitter and teacher to my daughter, over time, she became part of our family. :) read more

We found Amy through Yelp and couldn't been happier with having our son in her care. Upon meeting her for the first time, both my husband and I felt immediately at ease with her and knew that we would feel comfortable leaving our 6 months-old with her full time. Amy is one of those people that always has a smile on her face and genuinely love & care for the children. I would categorize the care our son received at her place as 'above & beyond'. First, she provides fresh organic food for the children on a daily basis (our son LOVES her home-cooked congee). She also has a wide-variety of toys for the kids and her place is always clean & spotless. We interviewed several daycares around the area prior to choosing Amy's, and we can tell you that no other place is as clean as hers! Above all, she truly understands the needs of each child depending on their age and development. She offered such a personalized care for our son that it really doesn't feel as if our son is at a daycare with other children. We also really appreciate her flexibility with our schedule (especially for our early drop-off). We are moving away in a few months and are so afraid that we won't ever find anyone as outstanding as Amy and her assistance, Fun. We are so sad to have to say goodbye to both of them. Amy sets such a high standard for childcare service and we really just cannot imagine having our son in any other daycare. We really cannot say enough good things about her place. Please call her now as you will never find a better daycare. If she has a spot still, consider yourself lucky! Thank you so much, Amy. We are going to miss you! read more

Better service than one would expect from daycare, Amy has created a safe, loving wonderful environment for the kids to enjoy. Her own children even help my son with his homework ! What better service could one ask for ! read more

Amy is absolutely wonderful! She loves children and showers my little girl (and all the kids at Sunshine Child Care) with love and hugs every day. Amy has a small child care license (6 kids) and one full time assistant. Her assistant's name is Fun and she is fantastic too. Both Amy and Fun are happy and loving. They are wonderful child care providers. Amy's in home daycare is clean and well lit with separate quiet areas for children to sleep. She has an outdoor area for warm days and takes the older children to Cayuga park (with parent permission). Amy speaks Cantonese and English. Her assistant (Fun) does not speak English. I find it easy to communicate with Amy. I am so thrilled to have found this daycare. While looking for daycare for my son and daughter, I have visited more than 20 in home day cares in excelsior, outer mission, glen park, sunnyside, ocean ave area. Amy's is my favorite. My daughter has been in her care almost 3 years now and I am very happy. My little girl is potty trained, takes long afternoon naps, eats lots of good food and speaks Cantonese in addition to English. Amy is teaching her the ABCs, she reads to the children. At Amy's house, the children sing lots of songs. My daughter is doing very well in Amy and Fun's care. I highly recommend Amy's daycare. read more

I am absolutely lucky to have found Sunshine Child Care. Amy has been an absolute lifesaver. I recently relocated to SF and was looking around for an affordable, quality daycare and I found more than that. Amy is genuinely out there to take care of the children that come into her home and give them that warm, safe, family environment in which to grow up. Amy is very sweet, understanding, and very flexible since my schedules at work varies greatly each day. She provides home cooked meals, which my daughter loves, made with only quality ingredients and offers the children organic veggies and fruits. I am sure she is getting a healthy and balanced diet every day while she is in her care. Every day I go to pick up my daughter, she has a great, big smile and proceeds to tell me about all the fun she had that day. She reads books, sings songs, teaches the alphabet, colors, shapes, counting, etc., helps with potty training, takes the kids on trips and even teaches my daughter Chinese, which I truly love. If you're looking for a daycare, don't look anywhere else. You and your little one will absolutely love Sunshine Child Care. read more

We've been placing our daughter under Amy's care since she was 6 months old and have never regretted it. We live on the other side of SF, but would rather travel 30 mins each day to drop our daughter off at Amy's than to find a closer daycare in the city. Amy and her assistant, Fun, are absolutely wonderful with the kids and they all seem to adore both of them. Amy teaches the kids various skills including speaking and singing songs in English & Chinese, arts & crafts, appropriate social interaction, and most importantly... potty training! Amy gives us daily updates (and occasionally sends videos & pictures) on how the kids are doing and her home cooked meals are so healthy and delicious. We are really lucky to have found such a great daycare provider. She treats us as well as the other parents like family and vice versa. Our daughter will be attending preschool this August and we are sad to be leaving her daycare, but I know that we will still keep in touch and hopefully there will be a spot available for our baby #2! read more

A Yelp review just won't do justice to the gratitude and love we have for Amy. She is truly a joy, and puts her bubbly, vivacious personality into every interaction with us and the children she takes care of. She has taken care of our daughter since she was just two months old. Our daughter loves Amy as a second mother, and performs with such good cheer and heart, that we regard her as member of our family. Amy provides each child with extraordinary care and attention, and it shows in every aspect of her daycare. The place itself radiates happiness, and somehow manages to be spotless and tidy even with a pack of toddlers tearing up the place. Each week there are new toys, rotated into the mix from a vast toy library that has taken over the garage. Amy does all the cooking from scratch using only organic ingredients. She gets up early and makes a new batch of beef or chicken stock every morning -- the basis for her delicious porridge which she ladles out at lunch time. After all the children leave, she stays up to sterilize all bottles and nipples anew, every evening. But most impressive is not just how hard she works, but how well she works. Amy is a baby-whisperer like no other I have ever seen (including Dr. Spock). When our daughter started day care she was a fussy eater and a poor sleeper. But now, thanks to Amy's magic and regular scheduled meals and naps, she has a healthy appetite and sleeps through the night. If I could I would give Sunshine 10 stars: its really that good. read more

My daughter Laine started going to Sunshine day care when she was a one year old. Upon meeting Amy at my orientation I was immediately comfortable with leaving my daughter with her for full time care. Amy has a natural inherent ability to care for and love your child as if they were her own. She herself has a playful and fun loving personality that any child would feel comfortable with. I have seen the level of detail and care she has given Laine and all children under her care during pick up. She has been flexibile with our schedule when we needed her help and had become an extension of our family. The day care is always spotless with warm meals provided and mostly organic fruits\vegetables as snacks. We would have continued to use Sunshine day care had we not moved :( Amy has truly devoted her heart, home and life to the children she cares for. read more

We love Amy and Fun at Sunshine Child Care. They treat the kids with love--hugging them, singing fun songs, taking them to the park and playing in the cute backyard...They also give the kids organic milk and delicious meals. In addition to what others have said, both my son and daughter went to amy's daycare one after the other. They were well taken care and fed with very well. I do commend Amy's servings of healthy organic foods and premium selection of foods: organic yogurt, costco fruits, organic milk, vegetables and most of all her wonderful soups. The results can been seen as the kids grew astonishingly under her care, plus kids education and manners improved as well. Also Amy was very accommodating to our emergencies / extended time when we needed it. read more
