If you have ever traveled the Turnpike in Florida and needed one of the service plazas for a bathroom or refreshment then you have undoubtedly come across a Sunshine Market. This one is located in the Fort Drum rest stop. Sunshine Market provides an alternative to waiting on the long food court lines. The Markets are clean and bright. At the entrance is their seasonal table currently filled with winter and Christmas decorations. Inside the front of the market is a coffee station, hot sandwiches, a cooler with prepared cold sandwiches, Lunchables, yogurt, and hummus. Further inside is a large cooler with drinks. There is a huge wall with every kind of snack food you can think of. I'm a fan of the Sweet Chaos Drizzled Popcorn but you can shop their extensive selection of chips, pretzels, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, and candy. They also sell phone accessories, souvenirs, toys, and have a handy aisle with drugstore items. The headache medicine has been a lifesaver in a pinch. Sunshine Market has a vast selection of items in a small footprint. Prices are a little higher than your typical convenience store but it is much faster to get what you need here and get back on the road rather than search for a store at an exit. I only wish they were open 24 hours or at least later. If it is the middle of the night you are out of luck. They shut down every day at 7 PM. read more

BUYER BEWARE. This particular turnpike exit will take advantage of the consumer by charging you for a speciality coffee $4.27 instead of charging you for a regular coffee. The cashier register attendant blatantly will charge you excessively knowing that the consumer is stating they are purchasing a regular coffee. The whole purpose of getting a coffee here is to avoid higher prices at Dunkin Donuts. Turned out more expensive. read more

I have to say when we do road trips, I always look forward to stopping at these service plazas. For one, they are so new and clean. Secondly, Sunshine Marketplace legit has the best snacks!!! Sunshine Marketplace is a convenient store located inside each service plaza. They have EVERYTHING!!! For food, they have prepared grab & go sandwiches, drinks, snacks, popcorn, candy and chips. For gifts or other items, they offer Havaianas sandals, fun Disney sunglasses, Imagine Ink, toys, phone chargers and external chargers. But seriously, the BEST SNACKS!!! Probably good that our local markets don't sell all these great snacks or treats. No, seriously though. Haha. read more
