Great school. The only thing I would say is I wish the area had more shopping choices.

The university is the oldest in Vermont and the fifth-oldest in New England. It is among the oldest in the United States and is one of the original eight Public League Universities. My dear friend's daughter is in her senior year. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to our campus visits. It is a beautiful campus to visit and fun activities nearby like the Teddy Bear Factory and Maple Syrup Factory. If you stay near campus at a AirB&B it may be a home with historic charm. Plan your visits because graduation comes around quickly and you want to document your fond memories! The downside is the placement office. Don't expect much assistance finding employment in your chosen field when you graduate! Start planning in advance!

Just the trip TO the school was a beautiful drive, but arriving in Burlington and walking around town was really great. We did do an official tour and the campus itself is beautiful. Our tour guide did an excellent job with our fairly large group and was able to answer all our questions. Dorms were...well they were dorm rooms, but some of the residence halls are actually quite nice. Unfortunately, I don't think this was the right 'fit' for my son so it's unlikely that he will end up here as a student, but it had more to do with the makeup of the academic program he was interested in rather than him not liking the campus. Seriously, this is really a beautiful campus with access to great outdoor activities in all seasons. Reduced price ski trips for students, great activities ON campus, and so much to do in town. Burlington is a great town with LOTS of great places to eat and drink...lots of local brews to enjoy if you are into craft beers as well.

I applied for, was officially approved for, and began preparing to study abroad. Shortly before departure, Champlain abruptly canceled my approval. The explicit reason given to me by staff was that I was "too old" to participate.Denying an approved educational opportunity solely based on age violates the core spirit of federal protections under the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, which applies to institutions receiving federal funding. While the statute of limitations prevents me from filing a formal federal complaint today, Champlain's administration never took accountability for this actions.Champlain heavily markets its "Inclusion" value and diverse campus community in Burlington, but my experience showed that this commitment does not extend to non-traditional or older students seeking global experiences. If you are an older adult or adult learner considering Champlain's programs, please be aware of this bias and ensure you get all administrative decisions in writing.

Champlain College has fallen from grace from the early 2000s and is a rundown mismanaged nightmare…read more I loved it in 2018 but the place is dirty, things barely function, and when there are increasing concerns about safety, ADA compliance (Wick Hall is no longer as the ADA entrance wheelchair opener fell last year and is just a hole in the ceiling now), fireplaces are out-of-date for safety inspections, Compass Student Services is rude and unhelpful. Worst of all is the event center staff who don't care for students and care whenever there are other events not hosted by the college. I have emailed multiple times about broken and missing door handles to one building. It has been a year. NOTHING has been done and apparently being able to enter is becoming quite difficult as the S.D. Ireland building is missing a handle, 194 St Paul St missing a handle, and I think Aiken is as well. Honestly, the school hasn't truly seen any care since 2000 as a fire alarm just went off recently from how dusty it was in the Garden House.
