The boudin balls here are really good and I would rate the cracklings as good but not the best in the area. Having said that, of the 15 or so places in Lafayette where you can purchase fresh boudin and cracklings, I would rate this place as 3rd or 4th in my book which means there are still dam good. Lol. This is a small grocery store so getting in, out and back in the road is very fast. In fact, I can whip in here and get burgers, cracklings, a case of beer and be back in my car in 4 minutes. That kind of fast. If you're passing by don't let the old time store front fool you, there's some great stuff in here! Enjoy!

There is a discount for military and Veterans and for people of a certain age. You start learning the history of the area, and how it came to be populated.  This island is on top of a salt mine, and it is evidently very beneficial to growing of peppers, and if the popularity of Tabasco is any clue, it is beneficial to hot sauce. I never really realized the whole process it takes to make this sauce, but I guess that is the reason for this tour. It is very informative, and I am glad that it is self-paced, otherwise it might be overwhelming. The tour covers several buildings and is self-guided with information placards to let you know what you are looking at, which is nice. I never realized just how many different flavors of Tabasco there were. Simply amazing. And Tabasco chocolate? A bit too tangy for me, but my dad loved it. I would suggest this for anyone, lover of hot sauce or not. The price of admission also covers admission to the jungles, which I would suggest visiting as well. All in all, a very lovely day.

So, I was on a mission to find some on this trip and bring it back to Dallas. I grew up eating Seven Steak and also going to the original Veron's and having the butcher's give me a Lil' Smokie while my mom bought our meat. I found beautiful pieces of Seven Steak here at 8AM on a Sat morning before leaving town and I was so excited. I told the butcher that I could not find this cut of meat anywhere in Dallas, and he chuckled and said, "Mais, that's because they don't know what a good gravy tastes like." haha!! So, we made a "good gravy" tonight and all is well in the world! I almost asked him for a Lil' Smokie for old times sake, but refrained! ha!

When I came into the store earlier, I could clearly hear employees in the back arguing with one another. The situation was loud enough to be heard from the shopping area, and I found it to be very unprofessional and quite disturbing while I was trying to shop. As a customer, I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially from a local grocery store that prides itself on serving the community. Hearing employees raise their voices and argue openly gives a negative impression and makes the environment uncomfortable for shoppers. Because of this experience, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. I recently shopped at Rouses and found the staff there to be noticeably more professional, courteous, and friendly. The cashiers were polite, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant -- exactly what customers hope to find in their local grocery store. I am thoroughly disappointed with the experience I had at Nunu's in Youngsville, and based on this incident, I am unlikely to return. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of the staff to ensure other customers don't encounter the same issue.
