It's one of maybe 4 hotels in all of Battle Mountain, NV. Freeway is right next door but since it is rural Nevada, you will most likely not hear it. This is notably the most expensive motel I have ever stayed at. THE STAFF ARE THE BEST! The people of this town are just absolutely awesome. They are friendly and patient. I was always greeted with a smile each time I bumped into any of the staff here. Ally and Erin were most notably impactful during my stay. Thank you for the smiles and great conversations. Continental breakfast was simple: biscuits and gravy, 3 cereal options, breads like toast and bagels with jam spread or cream cheese available. Microwavable sandwiches available. Intant Quakers oatmeal also available. Hot coffee served all day. The coffee machine has a hot water option. Plenty of tea options to choose from. VERY UNIQUE: Breakfast starts at 4am! Gym and Pool closed the entire duration. The gym looked completely demolished. There is a community recreational center down the street with daily use rates under $15! Washer and Dryer work decently and quickly. I would recommend to bring your own detergent. Coins available at the front. ROOMS: NO ELEVATORS. Stairs only so note that if you have a lot of crap like I did. Hopefully they upgrade to hardwood floors in halls and rooms. That carpet is an eye sore and inconvenience since mud is trekked in day and night from the construction workers. King Suite - clean, comfortable and spacious. Mini fridge + Microwave with counter space and mini kitchen sink across from bathroom sink. No complaints. Was right above the lobby so it could get loud with the TV on downstairs or random conversations through the night or early morning breakfast preparation. It is what it is. Double Queen Kitchenette - clean and spacious. Carpets are hideous. Rooms are pretty dimmed even with lamps on. Kitchen area itself is well lit. Stovetop, Microwave, all plugs work great. Utensils included with can openers, knives, etc. Kitchen pots and pans need an upgrade. These items looked like they have gone through hell and back but are still functional. Missing pot handles and lids but it does the job. Oddly there is a slow cooker which is pretty unique to see. Random kitchen ware in the cupboards left behind. Don't forget to buy dish soap from either two grocery stores across the street. Can't complain about much for a roof over my head and free coffee all day long. Can't forget the free baked cookies everyday!! read more

I stayed here for an antelope hunt. Battle Mountain was the closest location to where I would be hunting. The hotel was freshly remodeled and extremely clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. That cold AC and a shower is great after you've been out in the dust and hot sun all day. The hotel was only $10-20 more than the next comparable location and I felt the extra dollars were worth it. The pool is pretty small, but good for kids or just if you want to soak for a bit. The complimentary breakfast was about average, but I enjoyed it. My only complaint is I booked through Expedia and I harvested on my first day of the hunt, so I had to pay for a day I didn't use. read more

Great service and the manager took really good care of my hubby and I. We needed a room cause we got there super early and we were very exhausted from driving and the only rooms the manager could get us in was a suite so she hooked us up. Best hotel I've ever stayed in! I was traveling from Salt Lake City to Sacramento. I stopped in Battle Mountain because I had a severe headache. I booked with Super 8 because check in time was the soonest. I went to the hotel at 1:00 & explained my situation to see if I could get a room early. Kayla just said no. She didn't even bother to check even though it was just a hour before check in. When I did go back she was more concerned with her phone than me. At 2:00 she said she would check to see if they had a room available. Ten minutes later she came back, sat at her computer then presented me with a form to complete. When I was using my card key I realized that the WiFi code wasn't on it. I got into the room & it smelled icky. I tried calling the front desk & it kept ringing busy. I decided that I no longer was comfortable staying there. I don't understand why the phone kept ringing busy because again Kayla was on her phone. I am requesting a refund. We'll see what happens. I would never refer this place. read more

This is my second time in Battle Mountain. My first at this hotel. It was so much better than the last place I stayed. Of course it's not fancy; it's not a luxury hotel, but it was perfectly acceptable for a night. Convenient location. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. They set out a few things for breakfast at 430. Again, nothing fancy: bagels, fruit, toast. Plenty of parking. Easy check in / out. I don't come her too often but when I do, I'll be staying at this hotel. read more

Let me start off by saying that the staff is fabulous. I have no complaints about any of them, they were all professional and courteous. Breakfast had a good variety and included hot items. The hotel itself, left me lacking a little bit. It's supposed to have RV/Trailer parking, but it sorta doesn't. If you want to count the gravel area we were told we could use, I guess that's it. Maybe they meant the dilapidated dirt lot next door? There was something wrong with the lock on our door, the only way to close the door from the outside was to slam it very hard. The back door to the hotel was unlocked the entire time we were there. Didn't leave us feeling secure outside our room at night. The hotel needs some freshening up, it's a bit tired. The table was wobbly (though I appreciated having one with TWO chairs - thanks). Bed wasn't terribly comfortable. Pillows stank like cigarette smoke and were hard as rocks. Smoke drifted into our room during the night - probably through the heater - which sounded like it was on it's last leg and ready to quit any second. I don't understand people hanging out in the parking lot - going in and out of the hotel for hours on end - or just hanging out. My biggest complaint is that all of the electrical outlets were on the opposite wall to the bed. I think there was a total of five, two of which are already occupied by hotel stuff. I have a medical device requiring electricity that I must wear at night. I didn't have an extension cord, so I had to suffer the night without it. Needless to say, I did not sleep much or very well. Really disappointed in this part, I've never come across this before and I travel quite a bit. read more

Stayed here several times over the past 10 years while visiting and have been able to bring our small dogs when needed so it's a plus to be pet friendly. It would be nice if there was an artificial grassy area that was fenced for pets but the gravel lot works I guess. Is this a 5 star resort ? Hell no, some rooms are like a step back in time but what lacks on aesthetics you get convenience, wifi, and a hot breakfast. We've always had great service each time we've been here. It's also conveniently located near McDonald's, grocery store, auto parts and a bank. You would think that the location and the prices charged would be ideal and bring in money to do the nice updates and it has gotten small improvements over the years but it could use more modern amenities and updates. Some items they could address- There's not enough outlets in some rooms-or they are behind furniture. Not sure what happened with repairs but our bathroom door scraped the toilet bowl when closing/opening the door. The AC/heater could be updated w a digital thermostat and goodness they could update the furniture- looks like military surplus from old military barracks. Decent place. What's this trend of having a sheet for a top blanket? It's freakin freezing in here and if you turn the heater on your lips will fall off. And the morning lady with short dark hair couldn't give a rip if you were there or not. Breakfast, oh please this is what they feed detainees. And no Splenda! Very un happy with our stay here this past weekend. We always visit family here and was always great and we are happy with our stay here. This weekend our stay was horrible . We check i. And our air conditioning was broken so they decided to give us a different room and the other room was dirty in the kitchen net area the coffee pot was used and they didn't bother to clean it up. There was furniture missing and there was a bad odor in the room. There was no other rooms available and we had been driving for over 10 hrs, super exhausted. We leave the next morning for about 7 hrs and return to the room not being made. We didn't get clean towels and we asked if they were going to do the room and they said they didn't have the time to. So disappointed and frustrating. I guess next time we will look for a different hotel as to we're we visit family often. read more

Awful. Room smelled like animal piss. Front desk staff terribly unhelpful. Refused to change room. Coffee condiments. Opened. Clearly hadn't been replaced. Shower head had mold on it. And to top it off there was a condom in the drawer on top of the bible. Funny. But gross. This place is disgusting and the staff doesn't care. They already know there's only crappy options in BM. Do yourself a favor. Keep driving to the Mucc. The only thing good in this town is the Maverik and the Mexican food place. read more

I went on a road trip some time ago (I enjoy driving and road trips) This Super 8 Motel at the time of my trip was fairly new, clean and the area was quiet.... I'm writing this review in "arrears". I'm on my way back to Idaho, and have stayed in three motels this trip. The Super 8, the Eldrorado in Reno, and the Rodeway Inn in Elko. So far, for price and comfort the Super 8 has been the best. I found the desk staff to be very friendly, the room was clean, and the bed comfortable. For less than $70 a night (with AARP discount) it was also the least expensive. I didn't try any of the amenities (like the pool or breakfast) so I can't comment on them. Is it the most scenic lodging I have had? No. Is the most luxurious lodging I have had? No. Is it the most anything? Not really. What it is, is a nice, reasonable place to stop on your trip along I-80. read more

It's a reasonably cheap hotel and there's no Motel 6 in town. Room was clean, as was the bathroom. No wifi (WTF people). There is an indoor pool, but it closes at 10pm according to the sign. Plenty of parking, easy on/off from I-80. NO PETS The best feature you should know of: AC worked quite well to chill the room down. EDIT: Ah, I remember what else I wanted to say: Showers Installed By Midgets. It has your stereotypical California-height shower that will get the chest wet of most adult males. I've stayed here several times over the years and since new owners took over this place has gone down hill in a hurry. We came w/ family for a reunion, booking 3 rooms, 3 days at about $100 per night each and we were so disappointed. It's July (HOT) and the AC units weren't working very well or freezing up and turning off altogether. The maintenance has obviously taken a back seat as rooms had lights that were out, plugs in sinks missing and an odor that is not pleasant to say the least. We usually booked here because of the pool but the chemical balance is so messed up it actually burned my kids' skin. I requested a refund or discount based on the items brought to their attention but no chance of that happening either. It's obvious this motel doesn't put the customer first. We will not be staying here again. The Big Chief has remodeled and Owl Club is owned by decent people so we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

This motel is recommended as the "best in town", and it probably is, as there are not a lot to choose from, this one looks the best. The rooms are dated and the beds are not that comfortable, but its a reasonable rate, for a cheap motel. There is definitely much room for improvement. The carpet was bunched up and the bathroom was dirty. The 2nd floor smells of smoke and the walls are thin, so you can hear lots of activity very easily, and there were a lot of children being loud present. On the plus side, there IS free WIFI available, not sure what the previous poster was referring to, but its here and is decent. I would only stay here if you have to. Another consideration, if you are a government employee, don't expect to get a tax free rate, even with your letter to show tax exemption, the County Commissioners of Lander County made sure that your tax dollars will be collected here. read more

The rooms were clean but missing wow factor. The location was convenient (located right off the freeway). I feel like the bedding could be more modern. The soap and shampoo provided were good quality. The breakfast was ok but it wouldn't hurt to have more of a variety. They should have set the breakfast area in a private room versus in the hotel lobby. Customer service was good. The wifi was free but I feel that it should have been password protected. No password was necessary to access the wifi therefore anyone could use it versus just the hotel guest. read more

This place was not great. It was not awful, but not great. Everything about the facility screamed cheap, which was not what we paid for. I honestly felt we were staying in a motel six, and that's not a problem if that's what you're paying for and that's what you decided to do. This is a Super 8 so of course it is a cheaper place to stay. With that in mind it was very good for the price. It was busy the night we stayed because of people traveling North for the Eclipse but the staff was friendly and on top of everything despite volume of people. Our room was clean and smelled nice. A motel? More like a hostel. I drove across the country and this was the absolute worst place I stayed at. Every door in this place slams like a goddamn freight train when it closes. All of the guests were apparently incapable of closing doors quietly. So all night long: SLAM, SLAM, SLAM, BAM! If you don't want to get a good night's sleep, you should stop here. My favorite part was when the lights would flicker and the cable would randomly go out on the tube TV. At about 9pm some dumb bimbo was wandering the halls, confused about her life. She kept knocking on my door saying "Jason??" and trying to get into the room. The table in the room was wobbly. Two of the lamps didn't work. Hot and cold in the shower were reversed. The fridge in the room worked. Honestly this place would've been fine if I could've gotten a good night's sleep, but I'm pretty sure that's impossible with the paper thin walls and people slamming doors all through the night. Breakfast is frozen waffles and doughnuts. I paid $77 for this lovely experience. read more

Hotel is close to the Interstate, you can't miss it. We had a room in the second floor to the other side. Even with open window you couldn't hear the highway (well, probably less traffic). The Gal at the front desk was very friendly, the room was clean and functional and we had also a fridge and a microwave. Wifi was fast enough and reliable. Unfortunate the pool was closed, not sure what the issue was. The older lady next morning was very unfriendly - no good morning, no good-bye. And don't bother with the breakfast, some coffee and juice, danish and cereal. But overall not bad if you have to stop for one night. We paid $88. read more

Will never stay again!! When I first checked-in, I was asked for a copy of my license and credit card. No big deal as that is standard procedures. They then took a photocopy of both. I told them that I was not comfortable with them doing that and they proceeded to tell me that if their computer crashes, they have the information instead of waking me up in the middle of the night. Keep in mind, I booked online, so Wyndham franchise has my information in their system. They told me that I could have my copy back in the morning when I check out or I can watch them shred it. That gives them all night to have all my personal information. To top it off, the room was disgusting. Hair everywhere including inside the sheets, between the pillows and pillow cases, garbage on the floor and food inside the bed. We brought it to the front desk attention and they did come up and clean it. Not great, but clean sheets and partially vacuumed. The hotel was booked with a basketball tournament, so we were unable to move rooms. No hot water was left to top off our bad experience. I have contacted my bank and had my card cancelled and now have to deal with the hastle of all of that. Thanks Super 8! read more

We called them to ask why they charged us, and their response was because we didn't declare the animal at first, we were being charged......tell me how much sense that makes!!!!! read more

First, this is a super 8. It's not the Ritz. It's not a new hotel, furnishings are worn, Internet is slow, tub and toilet showing wear. So why five stars? The people. Our night check-in clerk Pam was so accommodating, professional, and nice. She got us a better rate and genuinely seemed to care. And that's how it was the rest of our stay. Room 125 had a king and a queen bed, and they were fairly comfortable (pillows sucked but what do you do). The tub was deep, which was a plus for my husband who had driven in CA traffic and was very sore. For a Super 8, it was clean and comfortable. The next morning continued the hospitality. Since we arrived pretty late, the wonderful ladies at the front desk had no problems with us getting a later check out (so our son could swim). Pool was small but clean, and the hot tub was closed. Shower had good water pressure. Battle Mountain is a small town, and you can tell the folks there take pride in a job well done. I observed the cleaning staff take extra care in each room to ensure cleanliness (carpets need cleaned but what hotels' doesn't), and they were nice to us even though we had a late check out. This trip was an adventure, and we wanted to experience small home towns, and good people, and we did just that. We will definitely stay here again. read more

I was on a road trip traveling through and I was exhausted and I needed to sleep. I thought Super 8 had a (basic) standard that all of their motels lived up to, like Motel 6's consistently clean/ decent/ updated rooms, so I chose that only motel that was in this little town. Rebecca, at the front desk was very kind and helpful, which I appreciated. However, I thought because it was a Super 8, I thought it would have been a little nicer/ newer/ updated. I paid $84 for my room and it seemed worn out and dated. I got the eebie jeebies from the 1970's gold bed spread. The bedding definitely needs to be replaced/ updated. As I went to sleep, I just cringed hoping that they washed that ancient looking bedspread and blanket after every guest. The air conditioner was very noisy and I had to shut it off. The water from the sink sprayed out, in a stream, onto the floor. I felt a little uneasy going to sleep there. Like I said, I didn't want to get into an accident, so I stopped to sleep. That is the only reason I stayed there. If I were you, I would power through to Winnemucca where you will have a large assortment of chain motels/ hotels that you have heard of that have got to be better. Happy Trails! read more

Haven't stayed in a Motel 8 in years. We had tried the America Best and it was a dump so moved over to the Motel 8. We booked the Suite that had a separate king bedroom. The staff were very efficient and the motel was nice and clean. The breakfast was only cold cereal and bagels, but I bring my own cereal so it was fine. Will stay here the next time we are in Battle Mountain for business. Not much else in the area but the old casinos. read more
