So it was cheeseburger week and I thought I ate here before but apparently it was my first time. I got the combo and chose the onion rings and it was probably the best onion rings I've had in a very long time. I've been on the hunt for good tasting onion rings and I've finally found it. The burger was alright but the onion rings were really good. The fries were tasty too but the winner was the onion rings. Everyone at the bench agreed that the rings were good and should've chosen that over the fries. You can get a refill of Soda for $0.50. Parking is only street parking but it's abundant so you're good for parking spaces. Outdoor seating with a couple of round benches and two seaters to sit on. I'm not a huge fan of beans in Chili Cheese Fries. Our son ordered the Cheeseburger and he loved it! He was digging the fries as well! The wife scarfed down the Teriyaki Chicken. Her only complaint was that the chicken was on the dry side. She said the teriyaki sauce was outstanding. She asked me, if the family who ran Super burger was Asian. That's how I know she liked it! I don't recommend the Chili Cheese Fries here as the chili was nothing to write home about. I highly recommend that you order the Pastrami Cheeseburger and the Teriyaki Chicken. This place deserves way more than 5 stars. If you haven't been or are thinking about trying this place it's a yes yes yes. This place is awesome, i absolutely love it. Their burgers are out of this world. They are big and juicy and saucy and fattening everything you would want in a burger. Their teriyaki burger is the best thing on the menu in my opinion. If you have a large appetite then one person would be able to finish it, but it is also shareable. The onion rings are also amazing. I discovered Super Burger many many years ago, but I seldomly come here because the burger gives me heartburn and plus they close early at 3pm. They do have one of the best burgers though. When I do come here, I always get a cheeseburger with bacon. The burger patty is really thick and I love how I can taste the bacon in every bite. The burger is really filling and it is hard to finish one. It is also oily, which is probably why it taste so good. I just don't like that it gives me a horrible feeling after eating it. In our quest to find the best burgers in LA, we visited Super Burger in Pasadena. There was a short line that moved quickly. The woman who took my order kept trying to upsell me. She finally stopped after it was clear that all I wanted was a double-patty hamburger. I was given a buzzer and waited for the burger to be prepared. After 10 minutes, the buzzer went off and I picked up the burger. The patties were larger than I expected (about 1/3 pound). The quality of the meat was not great, and the patties were overcooked. The burger came with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and Thousand Island dressing. The toasted bun could not stand up to the juicy vegetables and sauce, and quickly became mushy. Today I ordered a burger and fries. While waiting for my food the Dad(cook) took a napkin out of the trash can and wiped out the bowl that they serve French fries. I informed the son that I want my money back. He got extremely upset and informed that he believes his dad and not me. I've had an experience in the past where the son changed the outside trash cans. This is a neighborhood staple and you'll see a lot of locals here. The burger is meaty and juicy. They do have a double burger, but I do not know anyone that could take that down. The buns are soft, fresh and a perfect complement to the burger. The traditional burger comes with lettuce, tomato, and island dressing. I typically skip the tomato and then I get real easy thousand island, ketchup, mustard, and pickles. Now for the french fries. They are frozen, but they are crinkle cut and they are super crunchy potato and delicious. Let's talk about ambience. There's only outdoor seating in the tables. Remind me of the old school tables at great America hard plastic with interesting colors. I absolutely love it. As far as the service goes it's a husband and wife typically sometimes their son is there. The husband and wife are absolutely adorable . When it's busy, they can be a little bit in the weeds and not that they're not friendly, but they're busy doing work and the pleasant trees are kept to a minimum but if you go there right after the rush, they're super sweet and always have a smile on their face. They do close early and they aren't open on weekends so be aware of that. The prices are probably some of the best around. You can get a burger fries and a drink for like $12-$15. And for the amount of food you get that's a great deal so, next time you're in Pasadena and you're looking for a burger do not skip Super Burger. My mom was getting an outpatient procedure done at the doctor's office next door and the staff there (including the doctor) were telling me how great this burger spot is. When that many people are suggesting this place to me at different hours of the day, it's a sign to have my lunch here. It was already later in the day, so I didn't want to order too much. I decided to just get a small order of the chili cheese fries (yes, I know.. no burger at a burger joint) and it was WAY larger than I had anticipated. The portions were more than generous and the fries were absolutely smothered with their chili. Although smothered, the fries were still very crispy and every bite was pure joy. It seems like the place literally mom and pop and they were so friendly when I went back up to the window to grab a bag. We used to live across the street 20 years ago and it offered a lot of rice dishes as well as burgers. They limited the menu after pandemic but still great food. Stopped by today Nov 2024 to pick up some cheese burgers and fries. Their burgers are amazing and cooked perfect. The buns are toasted so when you bite into the burger there's a nice crunch. I love all the fresh ingredients they use. I'm not fond of pickles, onions, and mustard and they don't put any of them in this burger. So I loved it. My husband said it was missing some acidity to it. Fries are plenty and crispy. Service is always nice and friendly, I like the little beepers they give you to let you know your food is ready. Super Burger does indeed justify their name. It's nothing gimmicky or Instagram worthy but it's just solid, old fashioned goodness. Thick patties are the name of the game here and they are simply fresh, hand formed hockey pucks of juicy beef. Not your conventional, machine formed, straight out of a frozen column variety. These are the ones like your mama use to make and why wouldn't they be when you realize the stand is run by a family, a super nice one at that. It's literally a stand with all covered, outdoor seating so you get that BBQ vibe when the smoke and aromas are hitting you from the sky. They just have a small specialized menu and when you're feeling hungry you can venture for their most ambitious offering, the teriyaki burger, which is their regular burger piled high, and I mean high, with tender teriyaki beef. Been wanting to try this place since they have special hours (they are closed on Sundays). Honestly we don't need two combos so only one of us to get a combo would be good enough for the both of us haha. We paid and got a pager and the seats are free for all. This is a very classic joint where it kinda has that "ghetto vibe" but it was surprisingly pretty clean. Once we got our order, the burgers looked huge! Mainly the patty was super huge, and the food looked really good, we were excited to dig in. In summary of the burgers, they were pretty good, but definitely can be better. The burger itself was kind of dry, the thousand island dressing tasted like it didn't really make a difference. The lettuce and others were refreshing, and the fries was surprisingly really good! I enjoyed the crinkle cut fries a lot. For the price point of these burgers, they are kinda pricier than most fast food places, but also not as much expensive compared to a gourmet hamburger restaurant. Pasadena Cheese Burger Week ended on March 1 but my pursuit for finding another delicious cheese burger continued. I have worked in Pasadena for 30 years and have lived in Pasadena for 19 years and not once did I ever visit Super Burger until this past Friday. This is a great, family run, classic burger stand. I walked up to order my food and was greeted by a happy lady, one of the owners. I ordered a cheeseburger and small fries to go. My wait was about 10 minutes and when I got my food the lady thanked me for my business. On my drive home I could not resist and had to eat some of the fires. They use crinkle cut fries and they were perfectly cooked and nice and crispy. Not greasy at all. Getting home I opened the container and held my cheeseburger up to my mouth and took my first bite. Boom!!!! A flavor explosion went off inside my mouth. The single patty was cooked to perfection, juicy, flavorful and looked hand made. I ordered the burger with grilled onions. The cheese burger had just the right amount of sauce on both soft buns but the real star was the patty. The single patty was thick, almost two fingers thick. The small fries was a good amount and filled the container. I always tell people to support local family run restaurants. The total cost for my cheeseburger and small fries was $13.45 after tax. It's a good place if you live in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, which was exactly what I did. I live about 30 minutes away and made the trip out in the rain to come here. I ordered the Hamburger Combo ($11.75) which came with the burger, fries, and a drink. I will say that it's a lot of food and it definitely filled me up with fries left to spare. The meat patty was nice and thick as well, so you get a good amount of meat with what you pay for. I just wish that the patty and the fries were seasoned a little bit more. Love that the fries are crinkle cut though. I would say this place is at the same level as Jim's Burgers, which basically means that it's convenient and good enough to fill you up, but most of the flavor comes from the thousand island sauce that they use on the burgers. I will give them that there's more meat in the burgers than other places though so that's great. I love that you can sit outside and talk and watch people pass by. I also like that there are older buildings on each corner and that my imagination was able to take me back 70 years in time. Service here is great. The people are very nice. We ordered the cheeseburger combos. The burgers were AOK. What we really liked were the onion rings. They provide ample ranch to dip the onion rings in before eating. Parking was on the street but was easy enough. For me, the price was a tad hefty for the food I got. I did enjoy the onion rings. I also enjoyed talking with the owners. Overall, a 3.5 experience for me. If I lived locally, I am sure I would visit more often. However, I would not make this the destination of a foodie adventure. The menu looked good and I saw it had good rating on yelp so I said why not. And so glad I did. Very few places have onion rings these days, so I had to have some and they did not disappoint: crispy, not greasy and sweet on the inside! Also had the BLT on sourdough- also good. The burgers are homemade fat patties, so if you get the double cheeseburger, it will fill you up. The meat is cooked medium, not well done. We also got a kids cheeseburger and loaded fries. I came here today for the first time and the food was great, there was barely a line before the lunch rush, the amount of food you get is better than in n out in my opinion for the price you you pay, there is parking on the street and a very small parking lot on the side but looks like the parking lot is for residential parking.
