Bottom line - most definitely…read morethe best mini-golf in the Ottawa area however does not offer a lot of re-playability for mini-golfers who want to be consistently challenged. What I liked: + As a new course, everything is ... new. The carpets, brick, walkways between holes. Unlike many older mini-putt courses, wood isn't used here so the course will better stand the test of time. + Lots of water rushing around the course in man-made creeks, stones, a pretty mini-golf course + There are flagsticks you can take out of the holes! + Huge patio area + Lots of undulations and tiering in the greens, many holes had "rough" - longer artificial grass + Most holes have at least one moderately challenging putt + Good washrooms at the golf course clubhouse + Detailed website What I didn't like - The course doesn't take long enough to play... interestingly there is no "par" designation for each hole however I'd say most holes' par would be 2... its probably about a par 42. That makes it a fun course to play once, but as someone who seeks challenging mini-golf, not one I come to play again and again. - They could have a little post after each hole where you could rest your card to mark your score. - Close to highway though not a lot of noise from the cars

What a cool little park that I didn't even know existed! Harrold Place Park is a long but narrow…read morepark that is sort of like the median along a boulevard. There's a road on both sides of the park, but it's in a residential area, so the road is not that busy. There are 4 sections to the park. Two long narrow sections and 2 smaller oval sections at the ends. One of the long narrow sections is a fenced-in play area. No dogs are allowed in this area. It has a splash pad, swings and a play structure with slides. It has some benches, picnic tables (some under gazebos, which I like sitting under) and even a table with a built-in checkers/chess board. The other long narrow section is open green space. Dogs are allowed. There's enough space for a badminton net or volleyball net, if people wanted to put up their own and play. The 2 oval sections at the ends of the long narrow sections are also just open green space. Again, dogs are allowed in this area. These sections are smaller. I feel that Harrold Place Park makes really good use of space and it's an excellent community park for those who live in the neighbourhood. It's my winter home away from home!!!…read more You walk into their clubhouse, and the clubhouse is attached to the 11 simulators they have set up inside, with a handful of tables to sit at near a widescreen TV, and tables and chairs at each station. The simulators have a lot of golf courses from around the world loaded into their system already. You can also take mulligans, view replays of your shots, and warm up at their virtual driving range where you get stats like distance, degrees off center, how far your ball travels after landing, distance to the green, club head speed, degree of loft as well as others. as you play a course, the driving mats have a wide fairway mat, as well as sections on each side for simulating the rough and bunkers. you also putt right into the screen as well, with anything within 10 feet as a "gimme". I will be heading back regularly as long as the snow is in the tundra, and my game today showed me I need to get this rust off my game ASAP

It is so popular, in fact, that people like playing virtual golf when the elements outside don't let one play real golf. Thankfully for those in Ottawa's west end there is Golf-O-Max. Located in the same complex as Loblaws, the virtual golf establishment is big enough to fit multiple groups of fake golfers. You go in, pay a few and hit golf balls at a screen that looks just like an 18 hole golf course. I won't explain the entire game of golf to you, but you play each hole against however many friends you have Whit you. Simple, but it works. On top of playing the sport so many people love, there is a bar you can go to to grab a drink as you drive, chip and putt your way to victory or defeat. There isn't much bad to say about Golf-O-Max. It serves its purpose and doesn't pretend to be something else. It is there for golfers, and it serves them well.

I had forgotten its location but the big giraffe out front... this is where I used to mininputt as a kid with people no longer with us. I love that the new owner of about 10 years had kept the integrity of the mini putt area. The same little barn, humpty dumpy, church on the putt putt greens... Original, just maybe fixed up a bit. 34 acres. Long driving range. New tavern with drinks and snacks. Food truck. A putting area. Wow. My dog was welcome and we had a nice time at the tavern outer area. Serene. I'll go back. This place has great vibes for me.

Between the red and the blue course, Mini Golf Gardens has two full 18 holes mini putt courses. The blue has bumpers and is better for beginners or a warm up whereas the red is much more challenging and doesn't have any bumpers to help direct your ball or prevent it from going into the grass, water or sand. That's right, there are water hazards on this course so get your snorkeling gear! I'm not sure if they always have the 2 for 1 deal, but the day we went if you paid for the firsy 18, the 2nd 18 was free. I had a blast playing here. Oh and did I mention I got 3, that's right, three holes-in-one?!!? Yeah, that's right. Wicked place. Would definitely be back when I'm in the area.

It looks absolutely stunning as the sun sets. There are two courses and to my understanding the second course is free when you play the first. Each hole ranges in difficulty; some I was able to get a hole in one (probably a miracle) and others had me laughing as my ball rolled down to the bottom of the hill for the fourth time. The staff was very kind. There's a small hut where you pay and they also offer ice cream bars and other snacks there as well. I'll definitely be going back to keep my winning streak up!

I have been using the driving range at White Sands for about five years. One thing that bothers me…read moreis the poor layout of distance flags. Many of the prescribed yardages do not match the flags. And the designated flags on the chart do not match those in the field. Yardage boards - 50-100-150-200 etc. would be a big improvement. At the same time, the course is pristine. The golf lessons I took were conducted in a very professional way and were detailed - expensive but resulted in great improvement in my game. Come on guys, give us a better way to practice and we will keep coming back.

For a beginner golfer, who is looking to practice without the intimidating, up at 6am, playing 18…read moreholes 5 times a week golf fanatics, White Sands Golf is absolutely the perfect place to be. The course has 9 holes (all of which are par 3), a driving range as well as a practice area for chipping and putting. I have been very impressed by the prices. When you think of golf, you usually think very expensive, but the prices at White Sands are definitely decent. If you want to play nine holes, it costs only $18. The price for 18 (aka, playing the course twice) is $28.50. My favourite is the Practice and Play package. For only $22, you get a basket of balls for the driving range, unlimited use of the practice area and a game of 9 holes. This is beyond decent compared to some of the courses in the Ottawa region. They also have memberships at varying prices based on the length of commitment and offer senior's discounts. Like most courses, they also offer rentals of pull carts and clubs at a reasonable price. I usually book a tee-time just to ensure I don't have to wait, but I have dropped in on occasion and been able to tee off almost right away. There is an area inside by the registration desk that sells some clubs as well as drinks to keep you hydrated while you are on the green. While the course may not be the best maintained, it is pretty scenic and features nice greenery and ponds. Bring a visor though, the afternoon sun beats down pretty strong! I like White Sands because I do not feel the pressure to play quick and race through my game to accommodate the regulars who are far more advanced, and thus quicker at laying the course. I am able to take my time and (attempt) to respect the learning process. Golf Season is here! My clubs are polished and waiting to go and I can't wait to get out on the green. White Sands will be my first stop, as I am likely rusty after a long Ottawa winter and will need a lot of practice!

I didn't go in but I don't think it's private. Well kept. Beautiful pathways. Lots of benches for sitting and gazing out at the vast water. Friendly cyclists. Lots of geese. I took my dog the whole way in a big C shape and came back. Great exercise. Loved it here and I'll return. I have to find more friends with boats...

There's a good length walking path, lots of open green space for picnics on the grass, or they have a few actual picnic tables as well (some even have charcoal grills where you can cook your food). There is a very high concentration of commemorative park benches in this park. More than I have seen in any other park in the city. (as an aside, I looked up the commemorative park bench program in Ottawa, and for around $3500 you can purchase a commemorative park bench, chose your text on the plaque, chose it's location in any municipally-owned park, you donate it to the city, and the city will maintain it in perpetuity. I think this is a beautiful way to remember a loved one. However, Dick Bell Park is apparently full and cannot accommodate anymore commemorative benches. I guess it is a popular location). Lots of people fish at this park. It's very picturesque as it's by the water and in the summer you can see lots of boats in the water. I've never been there at sunrise or sunset, but I'm sure the view would be spectacular at those times. There's free parking on-site.
