Between four of us, we got the half chicken with fried yucca and stewed spinach; lomo saltado with fries and rice; plantains; and tamales. Holy shit. Everything was so damn good. Solid Peruvian chicken place with a menu that's fast, tasty, and filling. We love ordering a whole chicken and two sides. The black beans, chickpeas, fried rice, and sweet plantains are my favorites--it's hard to only pick two. The chickens aren't huge, but they're still very filling. This meal can easily feed 2-4 people. The parking is a bit tight out front, but there is some parking in the back and along neighborhood roads. I've been meaning to try a Super Pollo at some point since I drive past one when visiting my mother at home. Today my husband and I decided to give it a shot not even knowing it was Peruvian. If you've never eaten Peruvian food, it's worth trying. The prices felt a bit high, but one order is more than enough for two adults. I saw one family with two kids all sharing one meal. While we went in for chicken, when we saw the menu, husband decided he wanted to try the ribs, and I can't pass up a nice fish, so I ordered the tilapia. (Again, we didn't know at the time how big a meal was- we are taking 3/4 of our food home to enjoy leftovers. ) Husband's favorite food in the world may be Korean Kalbi ribs, so he was excited to try these. While they weren't Korean deliciousness, and it turns out that for all the red coloring Peruvian food is in fact not at all spicy, they were cooked perfectly and had a nice understated flavor. Same with the fish. The crisp on it was perfect. It was good fish and not flavored with too much, but it worked. The novel to me sides are what excited me. The first thing we saw was what looked like two different types of potato fries. Turns out one of them was yucca- which is similar enough to a potato but unique enough to have again. Fried plantains are always a win, and these were great. There were some pickled red onions that I had mixed with lettuce which I loved, and my favorite (though least attractive) side of all was the spinach. It looked like green-brown creamed spinach, but there was no cream. I asked about the flavor and the lady said it had smoked paprika, cumin, garlic, and pepper. I hate pepper and hadn't detected any in it, but the paprika and slight cumin was really wonderful. If you like spinach at all (I do), this was a treat. I already have plans to stop for a chicken dinner the next time we go visit at my mom's. Definitely recommend. read more

So my need for Peruvian chicken has returned big time. I have been shopping at the mostly empty Safeway nearby. And so I've been stopping at this Super Pollo rather than Quincy St for takeout. During the epidemic I just want to shop at places where I'm in and out and home in a hot minute. This fits the bill. The chicken is excellent. And I love both locations for spinach. They aren't exactly the same, they both have potatoes in it, but this location has more tomatoes, which is pretty yummy, so are yucca fries. This is a very inexpensive, very fast solution to dinner. If you haven't had Peruvian chicken haul yourself to a super pollo location. Especially if you're a person who likes well-seasoned food, that rotisserie chicken in the grocery store is just light on flavor. I have to agree with other reviewers regarding the overall cleanliness; It's what I'd call "restaurant clean". Neither clean nor dirty. I was surprised about charging $.25 for the tiny containers of sauce. I got a Chicken burrito with fries. The burrito was good, but not great. Had a bite or two of questionable bone matter. Yellow sauce here is disappointing--just tastes strongly of basic yellow mustard mixed with a little mayo, unlike the more flavorful versions at nearby Crisp & Juicy or El Pollo Rico. Sides were ok. Was craving lomo saltado and came here on our way home from Seven Corners late on a Tuesday night. Unfortunately, although it's associated with the same franchise as the location on N Quincy, do NOT go here if you want authentic Peruivian lomo. The meat was flavored heavily with curry [*not Peruvian*] and the peppers were different than those used in the traditional Peruvian dish. There were barely any fries and the few that were included were very soggy. The meat was also not cut properly. Overall very disappointing experience and pretty pricey for the poor quality - $45 for two entrees and cookies. If you are looking for good quality lomo, go to the N Quincy location, or El Fuego on N Pershing St closer to Ballston. Note: Have not had their chicken so this is for the lomo only. read more

I've been eating at this place off and on for a few months now. And over the course of time I've noticed a few pricing inconsistencies at the register. Depending on who is ringing up the order it can seem semi-fare or shockingly a bit over priced. Half Dark Chicken no sides = $10.99 Half Dark Chicken w/ 2 sided = $10.99 Sometimes you might get 3 or 4 sauces with the order. If you get 3 on one visit and say "could I please get one more?", you might get charged .30 cents. One occasion, I asked for 5 sauces. Instead of maybe only charging me for an extra 2 of the 5 requested. I was billed for a total of 5 at $1.50. Keep in mind by default they sometimes give you out 3 or 4 sauces for half a chicken. A colleague was shocked when he got billed for $15.17 for half white and asked for 4 sauces. Thinking it would not cost $15. Receipt showed $13.39 for the white and 1 extra sauce .30. Not sure how handing out an odd number of sauces makes sense for 2 pieces of chicken and then not verbally informing the customer, heads up the 4th sauce will cost an additional .30 cents is that ok. Instead, you receive the receipt for signature and stare at it like "What just happened". My point here is that pricing is inconsistent. And if you are sensitive to sodium it can sometimes be a little salty. The place is not bad. It's clean and they process the orders fast. Just not happy with the inconsistent pricing we seem to experience. read more

Came here and picked up food to go. You can get a decent amount of food here for the price. You can get Mexican food, Indian food, and Peri Chicken. The place itself has an atmosphere of a fast food place that is not fancy at all. Like maybe a fast food place from the 80's but without the play area. The place is not dirty but does not come across super clean either. The food was pretty good for what you pay. They have a lot of options. Wow...really? I'm the only 5-star rating to date? Super Pollo definitely lives up to it's name and has to be on par with my first ever experience with Peruvian chicken (at El Pollo Ranchero). The chicken rub they use here is definitely strong in comparison to other places I've been to including Edy's, The Chicken Place, and Crisp & Juicy...but that's exactly how I love it. The other thing that I noticed was how delicious the chicken fried rice was as well. The scrambled egg pieces were very salty but mixed with the fried rice it was a perfect marriage...at least for me. I came here for lunch (1/4 chicken meal) since I was in the area for a work-related conference, then on my way back home, I couldn't help but pick up a a whole chicken. I'm not exactly crazy about their cooked spinach though, and will probably have to pass on that the next time I visit. It's right next to the McDonald's so if you're going there and you want processed food, by all means, go for it, but for the price of a combo meal, you can have a smoky, flavorful quarter rotisserie chicken with two fresh sides then head into Super Pollo! What more can I say other than finger licking good! This is by far some of the best Peruvian chicken I have ever had! Parking.... not very plentiful at all. Located next to several stores with only very few parking spots. If desperate, you can always park in the McDonald parking lot. Food.... I normally get half a chicken with double rice ( yes double rice). The rice is so yummy and perfectly cooked. The chicken is clearly the star. Cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor always. I'm not sure what the yellow sauce is so I always opt for extra green sauce. Price... super affordable! It's only $10 for half a chicken and two sides! Can't beat those prices! Finally tried Super Pollo for the first time last week. I've tried a lot of the different Peruvian chicken places, so Super Pollo was next on my list. The location is off of Wilson, past all the weird construction in Ballston, next to a McDonalds. Not a whole lot of parking and the interior is pretty minimal, more casual than anything. Pros: - Cheap and quick to get - Lots of sides to choose from with your meal - They give you the green and yellow sauces with your meal - Rice and beans count as one side! - You can get so much delicious chicken - The combo meals with the kabobs or lamb are really big - Service is pretty nice Cons: - The salad is not the greatest - Not the nicest restaurant ever, but it's like a fast and cheap place - Tables are kind of wobbly I think out of the Peruvian Chicken places I've tried in Arlington, this is my favorite. Super Pollo and Super Chicken I think are both of my top lists. Both seem consistent and have a lot of options. read more

This place needs to be cleaned!!!!!!!!! The floors, the tables, the condiment bottles on the tables - they ALL NEED TO BE DEEP CLEANED!! Everything was sticky and just plain disgusting. How can you serve such delicious food and not clean the dining room? It makes you wonder what their cleaning habits are behind the counter. This review is for their delivery and customer service. Don't order from this restaurant through Grubhub. They don't have a device to view their Grubhub orders, so their "solution" is to have the driver pull up the app AFTER he arrives, look at the order on his phone, and start the order then. The result? Late food, the wrong food, and missing food. We ordered dark meat chicken, a quesadilla, and a crispy chicken burger. We got the quesadilla, a lamb burger, and no dark meat chicken. When we called the restaurant to ask them to make the order right, they said they would contact Grubhub to see what they could do. When we called back to check in after 15 mins, they screened my calls. We then used my boyfriend's phone to call, and guess what? They picked up instantly. When they realized it was us, they made up some excuse about their fryer not working. So, we had to call Grubhub to get a refund. Which is a shame because the only reason we ordered from this restaurant was because I had a hankering for Peruvian chicken and yucca fries. To be fair, the quesadilla was the hot and messy kind but it was still good. And the lamb burger, while not what we ordered, had good flavor. Super Pollo is my absolute favorite Peruvian chicken place in the whole entire world. Their chicken quarters are large (they might use hormone injected chicken but it is so tasty I will let that slide), juicy and well seasoned. The best part about Super Pollo is the sides. Being Asian, I would much rather devour my chicken with a large side of rice. Most other chicken joints only offer fries or a limp green salad as a side but not Super Pollo. This is by far my favorite Peruvian Chicken place in the DMV. I have been to NUMEROUS establishments... from Sardi's/Picca, El Pollo Rico, Super Chicken etc. This particular location is owned by a Pakistani and I believe much of the food here is halal. The chicken is always consistently good and flavorful. Often times I do not even need the Yellow sauce (my favorite of the two sauces) as there is flavor all the way down to the bone! Although 15% of the time flavor is not down to the bone but even then it is still good especially with the yellow sauce. For sides, I usually get the chickpeas and green beans which they started serving more recently. The lentils and fried rice are also good, but fried rice is an additional $1. I go here at least once a week, there are times where I will eat it 3x days in a row because it's so freakin good! I like the Chicken and sides at this location much more than the location on Quincy. However, the only exception is that the Quincy location has this really amazing green Cilantro Rice. I REALLY wish the Wilson location also started serving that rice so that I could get it with chickpeas. Also, the chickpeas are SO MUCH better at the Wilson location. Also, this place is usually open very late even on weekdays. However, if it is really slow they will close earlier which is understable and I only experienced once on a really rainy night. read more

Awesome Peruvian chicken joint with so many side choices! Especially great for health conscious foodies. I had a whole fried Tilapia with two sides - Tomato Onion Salad and Spinach with Potato. The Tilapia was tasty with crunchy and seasoned outside and moist white meat inside. The half chicken was pretty big and delicious but the chicken at their competitor, EPR is a little bit more moist and flavorful. They take American Express as well as VISA, MASTER cards, which is convenient. The whole Tilapia with the sides, Half Chicken with the sides and two cans of Inca Cola totaled $25. Super Pollo absolutely KILLS it. This is a sort of cool hole-in-the-wall on Wilson Blvd. Like most Peruvian places, it isn't fancy, has a cafeteria-like feeling to it, and the people barely speak English. It's also open ridiculously late, which rocks. You're probably better suited going here for take-out than anything else. The food here is to die for. The chicken was perfectly cooked and huge, the yuca were the best I'd ever had from any place ever, and the fried rice was jam-packed with chicken and delicious spices. I came here with my girlfriend and looking for a late night easy balanced dinner that had quick service. So I made my way over to Arlington to this cute family style shop. There's a lot of 4 seater tables and they have ketchup and chicken wing sauce at every table. The booths are very comfortable and it's a spacious layout. We got a half chicken dark meat cause you already know dark is where it's at. It was super juicy and tender. We decided to get two sides: the plaintain and the French fries. The plaintain was super greasy and not light. Super heavy on the stomach so not a good choice for the late night. The fries were good and not really salty and dipped in the yellow sauce was amazing. The total was about $12-13 which is a steal. I would definitely come back here again for a quick lunch and try out different things on the menu. read more

Super Pollo used to be walking distance to my home. As a poor college student, it was a miracle. The food is no frills, just all flavor and value. For $5.00 you can get a quarter chicken and heapings of various sides that they provide. I would usually get the beans and plantains as my sides, and it was all delicious. The yellow sauce that they include with the chicken is made of magic, because it's so delicious and there never seems to be enough of it. My family used to also gather here, and it would be inexpensive to feed our entire family with one of their chickens and a variety of sides.
