Beef ribs on rice with yucca and plantains
    Traci-Dale C.

I've been meaning to try a Super Pollo at some point since I drive past one when visiting my mother at home. Today my husband and I decided to give it a shot not even knowing it was Peruvian. If you've never eaten Peruvian food, it's worth trying. The prices felt a bit high, but one order is more than enough for two adults. I saw one family with two kids all sharing one meal. While we went in for chicken, when we saw the menu, husband decided he wanted to try the ribs, and I can't pass up a nice fish, so I ordered the tilapia. (Again, we didn't know at the time how big a meal was- we are taking 3/4 of our food home to enjoy leftovers. ) Husband's favorite food in the world may be Korean Kalbi ribs, so he was excited to try these. While they weren't Korean deliciousness, and it turns out that for all the red coloring Peruvian food is in fact not at all spicy, they were cooked perfectly and had a nice understated flavor. Same with the fish. The crisp on it was perfect. It was good fish and not flavored with too much, but it worked. The novel to me sides are what excited me. The first thing we saw was what looked like two different types of potato fries. Turns out one of them was yucca- which is similar enough to a potato but unique enough to have again. Fried plantains are always a win, and these were great. There were some pickled red onions that I had mixed with lettuce which I loved, and my favorite (though least attractive) side of all was the spinach. It looked like green-brown creamed spinach, but there was no cream. I asked about the flavor and the lady said it had smoked paprika, cumin, garlic, and pepper. I hate pepper and hadn't detected any in it, but the paprika and slight cumin was really wonderful. If you like spinach at all (I do), this was a treat. I already have plans to stop for a chicken dinner the next time we go visit at my mom's. Definitely recommend.

Am getting in and out in a New York minute.

So my need for Peruvian chicken has returned big time. I have been shopping at the mostly empty Safeway nearby. And so I've been stopping at this Super Pollo rather than Quincy St for takeout. During the epidemic I just want to shop at places where I'm in and out and home in a hot minute. This fits the bill. The chicken is excellent. And I love both locations for spinach. They aren't exactly the same, they both have potatoes in it, but this location has more tomatoes, which is pretty yummy, so are yucca fries. This is a very inexpensive, very fast solution to dinner. If you haven't had Peruvian chicken haul yourself to a super pollo location. Especially if you're a person who likes well-seasoned food, that rotisserie chicken in the grocery store is just light on flavor. Half a chicken and two sides will cost you about $11 and you'll have leftovers.

I have to agree with other reviewers regarding the overall cleanliness; It's what I'd call "restaurant clean". Neither clean nor dirty. I was surprised about charging $.25 for the tiny containers of sauce. I got a Chicken burrito with fries. The burrito was good, but not great. Had a bite or two of questionable bone matter. The fries weren't cooked thoroughly.

Was craving lomo saltado and came here on our way home from Seven Corners late on a Tuesday night. Unfortunately, although it's associated with the same franchise as the location on N Quincy, do NOT go here if you want authentic Peruivian lomo. The meat was flavored heavily with curry [*not Peruvian*] and the peppers were different than those used in the traditional Peruvian dish. There were barely any fries and the few that were included were very soggy. The meat was also not cut properly. Overall very disappointing experience and pretty pricey for the poor quality - $45 for two entrees and cookies. If you are looking for good quality lomo, go to the N Quincy location, or El Fuego on N Pershing St closer to Ballston. Note: Have not had their chicken so this is for the lomo only.

Came here and picked up food to go. You can get a decent amount of food here for the price. You can get Mexican food, Indian food, and Peri Chicken. The place itself has an atmosphere of a fast food place that is not fancy at all. Like maybe a fast food place from the 80's but without the play area. The place is not dirty but does not come across super clean either. The food was pretty good for what you pay. They have a lot of options. We tried the Peri chicken and got some Indian and Mexican sides. Everything was good overall especially considering the price. I would come back here again. The meat is halal.

Wow...really? I'm the only 5-star rating to date? Super Pollo definitely lives up to it's name and has to be on par with my first ever experience with Peruvian chicken (at El Pollo Ranchero). The chicken rub they use here is definitely strong in comparison to other places I've been to including Edy's, The Chicken Place, and Crisp & Juicy...but that's exactly how I love it. The other thing that I noticed was how delicious the chicken fried rice was as well. The scrambled egg pieces were very salty but mixed with the fried rice it was a perfect marriage...at least for me. I came here for lunch (1/4 chicken meal) since I was in the area for a work-related conference, then on my way back home, I couldn't help but pick up a a whole chicken. I'm not exactly crazy about their cooked spinach though, and will probably have to pass on that the next time I visit. Sits right next to a McDonald's, so this little parking lot gets a lot of traffic.

Chaufa (fried rice) and fries were good! Chicken was flavorful.

Good chicken. Service was not particularly welcoming and the atmosphere wasn't great considering it wasn't even a cheap meal.

Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

We ordered a half chicken with yuca and beans as the sides. It was very quick, we got our food within seconds it felt like. The chicken was probably the most flavorful kind of Pollo a la Brasa that I have had. It wasn't too greasy either. Just very tasty. The beans were delicious!! I didn't think I would like them as much. The yuca was pretty good too. Nice and crispy. I do wish they had slightly more options for sides, maybe even an Arroz Chaufa. This is a no frills kinda place so don't expect anything too fancy. But it is clean! And that's what makes it more authentic and fun in my opinion! Will definitely go back if I'm in the area.

I wanted to wait and give a review after the first time as I hoped it wasn't one of those, ("the first time it was great! The second time...not so much.), let me reassure you that was not the case with Autentico! On my first visit, I had a seafood selection, and it was so fresh and so good! I was also checking out my buddy's chunks of beef that were part of his meal, and wanted that too! He gave me a chunk and it was so tender, juicy and good, I knew on my next visit, I would have to order some form of their steak! The service was spot on, and food order time to table, was exceptional! My next visit came yesterday, and yes I ordered a steak! It was a late Friday afternoon, and even though they were busy with a few large tables of people, service was still outstanding and the food was even better than the first time! If you have read some of my reviews, by the time I think to take pictures, there's not much left to take a picture of! Also, I know some people just take pictures and not much else, and while something can look really good in a photo, you have to dig into it to unearth what's really good about the dish, and everything I have tried at Autentico, was superb! I ordered the NY Strip with fries and instead of the rice that comes with it, I asked if I could substitute veggies for the rice? They said no problem! While the first time I had a couple bottles of their Corona, which was very cold and was also provided with a frosted glass, this time I asked for a Modelo Especial. I was told they had it on tap! Major points, as I love all of Modelo's products especially the stouts! It was just my buddy from work this time and me, and we had such a great meal and the ambiance was awesome! I had joked my first time visiting there while driving in, that there was an Irish resturant right next to it! I mentioned that we should go there after for a couple pints. We never got around to it, as we were too full both times to make it in. But that resturant is in the back of my mind for a future visit! So if you do go to Autentico, you won't be disappointed. It's a great location that's worth the drive, and an exceptional resturant!

I understand that mistakes can happen, but it was disappointing to receive the wrong empanada after I had specifically explained that my mother does not eat beef. What made the situation even more concerning was that the beef did not seem fresh. The only downside was the limited and not very clean restrooms during a busy event. First, let's give an applause to their social media team for helping me discover this place. The game day promotions caught my attention, and they absolutely delivered. The decor, atmosphere, and energy were all fantastic. You could tell Inca Social was well prepared, with a fully staffed team that stayed attentive throughout our visit. Whether it was quickly finding us an extra chair or constantly refilling our water, the service was excellent. The food was equally impressive. I highly recommend the lomo saltado, and the pasta served alongside it was surprisingly delicious. The Inca Balls were also a great appetizer with a light, crispy exterior and a savory filling. The drinks were solid as well and rounded out the experience nicely. My only complaint is that there are only two restrooms, and given how busy the restaurant was, they weren't as clean as I would have hoped. Food selection was smaller, food was not worth the price and service was awful. We did not have a reservation but saw several tables open. They sat us near the welcome booth as we were a family of 5. We were given menus but not enough utensils and thought eventually we would get it along with the menus. There seem to be a huddle of employees in the entrance of booth and the waiter did not show up for another 5 minutes. Another 5 minutes passed and a different waitress showed up asking if we were ready. She did not tell us of any specials and we had to ask her the price of the bistec a lo pobre which she said was $26. We also asked her about other items we saw at the online menu but she said they weren't available. We decided to stay and order ceviche, lomo saltado, anticuchos and bistec a lo pobre. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a chicha. There was no physical menu for children and she verbally told us the options. I ordered chicken tenders and fries for my toddler. She took our orders and food came out after 15 minutes. The meat was missing the sauce the menu said it came with, the ceviche tasted very lemony and the chicken tenders were more like chicken balls. The waitress never showed up with our drinks and we decided to just eat and go as the staff seemed to want to socialize more than tend to the customers. Once we were done, we asked for boxes and the check. Apparently, gratuity was already included and maybe thats why the service was so bad? She hardly came to check on us and to top it off she was surprised when we told her drinks never showed up to please take it off check. She didn't apologize or asked how the food was. She gave us boxes and off we left. Later, we realized the bistec a lo pobre was $28 instead of $26 and we had ordered two. I just wanted to leave at that point and not wait another 5 minutes for waitress to fix her mistake. The ad, as shown in picture, said all moms receive a flower but I guess having three kids with me wasn't enough for me to get one. We also noticed when we left their website said a party of 6 or more has gratuity included but we were a party of 5. What is shown online is very different than what you get in person and if the food was great I would gladly go back for at least takeout. Food is not worth it, the service for Mother's Day made it worst and the environment was mediocre at best. Prices were inconsistent and menu is not appealing. Not sure what happened here but changes should be made at least for Mother's Day.
