This is the second time this location has canceled or tried to reschedule same-day when I've booked appointments for friends. It's incredibly unprofessional and completely disrupts plans that were made well in advance. Thankfully, Toni&Guy stepped in and saved the day with a same-day appointment. They were flexible, gracious, and everything a salon should be. I honestly can't recommend them enough. If you need reliability or you're booking for something time-sensitive, be aware that Drybar - La Encantada has not shown they can honor appointments as scheduled. Hopefully management addresses this, because the pattern is unacceptable.

I arrived on time for a scheduled appointment for highlights and a haircut. After my hair was washed, I met briefly with the owner. She spent most of the consultation speaking to a junior stylist and asked me very few questions. I clearly explained that I wanted highlights that would hide my gray hair and a flattering cut (I gave specifics about the cut). During that consultation, a woman walked in and announced that she did not have an appointment but wanted to see if she could be accommodated. To my surprise, the owner decided to take the walk-in client first, leaving me sitting in the chair waiting for approximately 45 minutes while she highlighted the other woman's hair. When she finally returned to me, the consultation remained minimal and rushed. Throughout the appointment she continually moved between multiple clients, rarely focusing on any one person for long. The entire visit lasted 4 1/2 hours despite the fact that I have very short hair. Unfortunately, the results were the worst haircut and color I have ever received. Rather than blending my gray hair, the highlights emphasized it and left my hair looking noticeably grayer. The haircut itself was uneven and impossible to style. The result was so poor that I eventually returned to my longtime hairdresser in Pasadena, more than seven hours away, to have it corrected. He was genuinely shocked by the quality of the cut and tried his best to repair it. What surprised me most is that this salon has so many positive reviews. My experience was the exact opposite. The salon appears to be a victim of its own popularity, too many clients being scheduled at once, insufficient attention to individual customers, not respecting people's time, and not enough time spent listening to what clients actually want. Being kept waiting while a walk-in client was served first, combined with the poor communication, lack of attention, and disappointing results, made this one of the worst salon experiences I have ever had. I do want to add that the other staff were friendly - it was the only good thing about the visit. Oh - and they offered wine. I would rather a good cut and highlights than wine, any day.
