Unlike the address on both Yelp, and the Superdrug website, this is only a small store over one floor in the Middleton Shopping Centre, it mainly stocks all your Superdrug essentials and that's about it, for example they have a small selection of drinks including Lipton Iced Teas, which seem to be available at most branches. This branch has a small range of fragrances and similar items. Superdrug had an interesting range of products, mainly specializing in health and beauty, I can't comment on the products in great lengths, as I wouldn't consider myself to have much knowledge in that field, but the range for a store of this size seemed okay, the range on some items such as drinks and fragrences were a little poor. The pricing on most items seemed competitive. In my opinion, this store is average and doesn't seem to go anymore than that, but due to its' size, and that it doesn't stand out as much as a place to shop in the Middleton Shopping Centre, I sadly feel it doesn't deserve more than two stars.

Their prices are very reasonable and 99% of the time they always have what you are looking for. I recommend this over many other high street stores mainly for their competitve pricing. For some reason, they only had one set of doors working, I totally understand having one set of doors to go in and out the store for COVID reasons, but that didn't seem to be the case, and with no signs on the doors on the far right which weren't working either, I was left to look like an idiot trying to pull and then push the door only to realise it wasn't in use. When I recommended they added a sign to the door, a staff member just looked at me, without much of a response. Some good deals, prices did seem a little high compared to nearby Boots, but this is something which seems to change regularly as prices fluctuate with promotional offers. The store was mostly clean which is also good. The nearby store at Middlebrook in the Horwich area of Bolton does have more facilities, for example, there you will find a Health Clinic which isn't a feature here. The opening hours here also mean this store closes slightly earlier, at 5:30 Monday-Saturday, compared to the slightly later time of 6 pm in Horwich. 3* - A-OK, decent Superdrug store, although nearby stores in Horwich, Leigh and Manchester are better.

The staff are generally attentive and helpful in this branch and they often have their full amount of tills operational to avoid unnecessary queuing.

In terms of space, this is one of the nicer branches of Superdrug I have seen, as the isles have more room to move around which is always nice. The range of products around the store is decent/satisfactory, the service was average, maybe slightly below that. As mentioned, the location is good being in The Rock Shopping Centre and this store is fairly close to the likes of GAME and Burger King. The selection of drinks was good, maybe around the average mark, perhaps even slightly above which also was good. They even sold the Starbucks iced coffee bottles which I liked. There also seemed to have some sort of beauty salon/brow bar inside the store, which is something useful for people who like and use that type of thing. Decent overall store and decent overall product range help to warrant a three-star rating, albeit it is a rating I still feel is a little generous.

I use the chemist section quite a bit for prescriptions and there is a good value service where they order and pick up your prescription for you. The rest of the store is split into the usual sections, the one bit i do find slightly disappointing is the three for two offer section, especially at this time of year when the hristmas offers are on. The two tills at the front can get quite a few people queuing and people often use the perfume counters. The staff are quite good at giving advice on products as well.

The store is very narrow in most areas, especially the doorways and aisles and the selection is again limited. The overall shopping experience just seemed uncomfortable. 2* - I really don't see the need for this store with a much larger location around the corner, especially with two stores in such a small town, the Pharmacy is useful and deserving of an extra star. It would make more sense if they put the Pharmacy in their other location, but maybe it isn't logistical for them.

They only seem to have one set of automatic doors, it would be nice if they had them on both sides (one-way system), as I do find them more welcoming. The staff seem OK, they don't particularly stand-out. The Pharmacy is open at the same hours as the store, I do find it to be quite limiting as they shut at 17:30 but this seems to be common of many shops in smaller towns and cities sadly. The Opticians area is smaller than other nearby stores, it is useful however for an eye-test but perhaps not picking up a new pair of eye-glasses. 3* - OK, obviously there is better not too far away, in many nearby towns and cities, but not a bad alternative if you're in Southport.

They always have a lot of special offers on, including discounts and multibuys, which work out very cheap. The items are easy to find as the aisles are clearly labelled. The staff are friendly and helpful. They are happy to show you where an item is and give advice if you request it. They work hard to keep the store well stocked and they ensure that customers are served quickly at the tills.
