Great selection of nuts and candy at reasonable prices. They have a lot of choices of sugar-free candies; the sugar-free chocolates don't have the weird after-taste many have, and there are lots of choices including milk and dark chocolate. Everything is fresh. They have build-your-own containers for gift-giving. Helpful staff. There are some hard-to-find items like chocolate covered orange peels. They always have a wonderful variety of chocolate, chocolate covered items, dried fruit mixes and nut mixes. All sorts of candy too. Oh, and sugar free items as well. And an assortment of gift sets for nuts and chocolate covered items make great gifts for any occasion. One tip, you may miss the business from the street. Not the businesses fault. I had no idea that this store existed until I saw the advertisement for their two (2) outlet locations, and one of them being on Irving Park Rd. I immediately recognized the address: 6620 W. Irving Park...is it close to the Montrose Deli & Mart that I frequent regularly? Since I ran out of snacks at home, I walked there from my house this morning before work, attempting to make some progress on my 10km-Pokemon egg. It doesn't have a conspicuous storefront; it's just one of many small businesses and offices west of "Merrimac Square Condominiums." Did you know you can sample the nuts and candy? After browsing through the entire store, I made up my mind on a few things. Some nuts, popcorn, and candy have been packaged in bags or boxes. Nevertheless, the ones inside the large transparent containers are sold by the pound. The smallest size you can ask for is a quarter pound. The lady who assisted me with the loose chocolate-covered cranberries and chocolate-covered almonds were very nice. Although I didn't beg for samples, she sneaked one of each kind that I was going to purchase into my hand. I thought the prices were reasonable, but unfortunately I lacked great control on food in these categories. Mr. Nuts and Mrs. Candy...you two are the power couple! I ended up spending a little more than I should, but I didn't regret that decision because I would be happy to consume them all. Sharing with hubby...uhmm...may be optional. Well, I was kidding! I was looking for candy necklaces and bracelets for a community event. In the past, I recalled seeing them here Sadly when I called the store they did not have any in stock. I then called Superior Nut on the south side. I was dealing with Anna at the retail Store on the southside. She was wonderful. Unfortunately there were a number of circumstances where she could not send me the product. Out of the blue I get a call from Ralph. He is the owner of this store. He made arrangements to deliver my candy to the northside store. This saved me shipping costs which were more than the product itself. You'd probably spend more at Starbucks for a frappe than what I spent for 200 candy necklaces. I picked up the candy and of course some other "goodies" for myself. Superior Nut and Candy has a great assortment of nuts, trail mix, candies, and gift ideas. All at a very reasonable price. I got the kids some nostalgia candy too. I was very impressed with the level of service I received from this business. Especially since the total sale was minimal. Kudos for a well run business. I super love Superior Nut. It's a trip down Candy Nostalgia Lane if ever there was one. While I can't eat half the stuff there anymore, it makes me happy to know it still exists somewhere. While the fancy stuff will cost you, you'll get what you pay for plus they have a wide selection of reasonable items. I swear even if I don't buy anything -- which NEVER HAPPENS, because IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to walk into that store without making a purchase even if I'm broke they have "penny" style candy FFS --- I walk out of the store a better person for just being there. I don't know whether the cheerfulness and helpfulness of the staff has anything to do with the goodness of their wares, but I don't think it can hurt. Superior has an extensive inventory of non-traditional goodies, including sugarless candy -- most of which is pretty palatable -- as well as nuts and fruit and coffee beans. (I am a little nonplussed by their selection of "squirrel and bird food", but you have to put the floor sweepings somewhere, I guess.) It is literally the only brick and mortar store where I can buy my mom that disgusting candied mixture used in fruitcake. Thanks to Superior I get to give a value added present because it also saves her from wrecking at least one manicure a year -- she doesn't have to use her nails to dig those awful bits out of an annual holiday "treat" she inexplicably loves. Some of their chocolate on their shelves were blooming (turning a chalky white). meaning they are likely old and expired. The peaches I purchased were rock hard, completely inedible. None of the products I purchased are labeled with expiration dates, which is a huge food safety concern. read more

This place is amazing. It sells dozens of obscure and old school candies, plus chocolate covered nuts and fruits. And it's outstandingly cheap!! Like I'm afraid to write this review, and then they'll raise prices. You can get a pound of various chocolate covered nuts and fruits (whatever is on sale) for $3. Holy crap, I've completely missed the best candy store in my own back yard! In a store front of business services...I'm not quite sure what else is there - Polish shipping services??? Honestly, this place has like every type of candy you're looking for - chocolate, gummy things, old fashioned...I have yet to see candy cigarettes but if I did I wouldn't be surprised. Prices are pretty awesome too, and most of it is available by weight. Note to new people - the machine that gives you the numbers is by the door - this place operates kinda like a deli. For the most part, you take a number and wander around if you aren't the only one there. If the ladies behind the counter notice you, great - if not, stay close, make eye contact every now and then and wait...Be nice to the ladies behind the counter and you'll get rewarded with tastes of things and also having them pull out "fresh" stuff for you. Being rude brings out the Candy Nazi in them, or having them ignore you all together. I'm very excited to have found this place!! read more

To my surprise Trader Joes had a recall on their (my favorite) walnuts recently so I had to scramble to find a another supplier. I tried to replace them with pecans, but they're just not the same, plus they're a little too pricey, a small bag for $6! Yikes! So I searched Yelp for suggestions...and came up with Superior, or should I say inferior, because that's what it turned out to be!! First it took forever and a day to get there, I felt like I was driving to northern Wisconsin... but without the scenery. Second, once I got there and saw the exorbitant prices I almost fainted, isn't this supposed to be a wholesale store, not retail? Why call it that if you charge full price? Third, their customer service STINKS. Clerks are not very friendly even if it's not busy... as a matter of fact, one of the fixtures, I mean ladies, was actually too busy to wait on me?? Question to them, are you busy or just acting busy so you don't have to wait on customers? Where's the manager? Skip this place, it's off the beaten path for a reason! read more

I just can't believe someone would give this place one star. This place is amazing, the gummy bears are the freshest Ive ever had. The customer service is just fine I agree with the person who wrote if your kind to the ladies they will be kind back. Btw, I live in the area and it's not like driving to Wisconsin as someone stated in a one star review (sounds like someone had a bad attitude the day they stopped in). It takes 20 minutes with no traffic to get to the area from wicker park. I think it would take much longer than that to get to Wisconsin. This is an amazing place that may be heaven on Earth. Great assortment of candy, treats, nuts, etc. It has everything you'd need for sweets without the frills. The place is very low maintenance and the workers are super helpful! My recommendation is to go after a holiday ends because then it's on major sale! Had the worst experience for it being a first time customer I went in because a Co worker of mine suggested this place had things I needed. specific candy for my daughter's birthday goody bags and was told they carried the items unfortunately they ran out of the items so I pick out other things I needed, they had a a sampler plate that carried nuts/cookies/chocolates my niece points at it and says what's this we told her don't touch anything (WICH SHE DID NOT!!) THE employee with a disgusted look tells my niece here!! Here!! Take that 1 and pointed 1 out. First of all u do not address a child! U tell the grown up! And also she wasn't being un supervised! I told her to not touch anything because the ladies were rude! Then I go to purchase the items WICH was $3 and change the cashier says $5minimum to use debit/credit WICH I had no problem with it I go to search for something else and when I walk away I hear the lady say in a rude tone! "The sign clearly says $5minimum! ! I was upset! But still bought the things I needed! I emailed the business because I felt like they were extremely rude and felt like they treated me the way they did because I am a Latino race, I noticed to the Caucasian people they were all smiles and welcoming. So I let them know how I felt over an email, they responded back but obviously didn't understand and emailed me something totaly different saying store policys is $5 minimum and said my niece touched a gummy worm and due to sanitary purposes she was told to take it, "because she touched the gummy worm"..wich it was a piece of chocolate she was told to take! Not a Gummy as the email stated, point wasn't about me being upset about paying $5 it was the way the rude lady said it after I walked away and the way my niece was addressed, they are worried about sanitary purposes but every one sticks their hands in the plate anyway!!! The email stated "people have bad days" insinuating I was having a bad day. I am really upset it's 2015 and people are still racist? I will never ever go to that place again and to any other race be careful you might be treated like a criminal. This is a great find. Bulk candy and nuts and also great gift items for seasonal gift giving. This place has a wonderful atmosphere, always decorated for the season and choice candies for the holidays. This place gets lost in the midst of offices, but well worth the stop. Thanks Yelp! I had been looking for bulk orange candy for the Halloween goody bags at my kids' school. I looked online, but didn't want to pay CRAZY shipping charges. I went to the sweet factory, and they wanted $11 PER POUND for jujubees. Ridiculous. Then I went on Yelp and saw this place that is practically in my neighborhood. I found orange pumpkin shaped gumdrops for .99 a POUND! I bought 10 pounds for less than 1 pound at that stupid overpriced sweet factory! HOORAY. we also bought a couple ot Turtles and Ring pops for my kids... all for $13.25... We will DEFINITELY be back. This is a fun place to go to. They have bin after bin of candy. I like the cheap bags they put together. Most are 99 cents for a lb. I think its stuff they need to move to keep a fresh stock. Sold by a pushy soccer mom for a school fundraiser this was the worst bag of nuts that I've ever bought. $9.00 for a 7oz bag of peanut skins and salt. On the label of this expensive bag of "mixed" nuts was the word pecans but there wasn't enough pecan dust to make 1/4 of one pecan. Wow I can't even explain how amazing this place is. It's like finding a treasure chest in the build of a building complex. This place being so much more than just candy and nuts there is heart, soul and attitude. Regular candy stores are sugar coated with people acting fake. While at superior you get real people. They have a personality and will give you they're opinion. Walked in and was treated like a prince. Being a person of color it's nice when you get the same treatment as white people in this world.
