This company doesn't even deserve one star. I had a lot more hope for Supermovers after the verbal reviews I received, especially as the positive information came from folks I know and trust. The process started out beautifully, communication was clear and I was hopeful. Everything was great until moving day.
After showing up 3 hours later than scheduled because of a flat tire they didn't inform us about (causing the individual scheduled to oversee the move to wait without explanation for 3 hours until we called them to see where they were), the three men scheduled to move the contents of a 2.5k sq. ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house proceeded to:
1. Complain about what they were hired to move, when they were in full knowledge of exactly what needed moving (I had to provide pictures of the house's contents before scheduling);
2. Whine about the weight of the boxed items (which two girls packed and carried to a central location to make it easy on the movers to transport out the door);
3. Drop a table down the brick front steps as it fell off an improperly managed dolly, thus damaging it;
4. Improperly handle boxes clearly marked fragile (again, that two girls could manage), thus damaging the contents;
5. Turn a solid mahogany and inlaid rosewood desk upside down on a metal dolly to move it (without padding or protection), thus damaging it; and
6. Turn a mahogany game table upside down to move it (again without any padding or protection)- causing the top of the table to come off and hit the ground, thus damaging it.
I called the owner to inform him that we were halting the arrangement due to their inability to properly move the contents in the house. They would be paid for their time, but given the improper treatment of the furniture and the lack of care in moving it, we'd find someone else to handle the rest of the job (which equated $480 for 3 hours of piss-poor work - we were also charged for an hour more time than was actually spent on the job and job completion was not signed by the individual overseeing the move, but by a staff person from Supermovers... and the time stamps and signatures on the invoice prove that).
There was no response or remorse provided for the damages incurred, and when I stated that the individuals scheduled to the job should not be allowed to move furniture b/c they were so destructive and careless with it, the owner proceeded to argue about it.
We will (supposedly) be receiving a claims form for the damages and a check for the difference in actual cost vs. what we were charged... But the damage has already been done... Much less, to highly sentimental pieces of very expensive heirloom and antique furniture. The game table Dad and I spent HOURS at when I was growing up playing backgammon and gin. The desk was Grandma's that my Grandfather bought for her and I used to play at as a child. The table was the first thing I bought when I moved into the house. Luckily we stopped them before they damaged the rest of the furniture and contents, or God forbid, the piano.
This company is worthless. For the sake of your possessions and state of mind, don't waste your time or money. read more
