Great restaurant that puts a delightful spin on Southern and pot luck style foods. It is located in an old church providing a unique dining atmosphere and experience. We enjoyed the prime rib steak cooked medium rare with a side of bone marrow broccoli, miso Mac n' cheese and blackened onions which was plenty for two people (we even took some food home with us). We heard that you must leave room for dessert so we tried the Cheerwine Float Sundae and it did not disappoint- the cheerwine (cherry flavored) homemade ice cream was delightful and the rich chocolate brownie pieces made this dessert a unique but decadent and memorable dessert! read more

This is one of many times we have visited Supperland and I have not stopped and taken a moment to say something about this fabulous restaurant in CLT. From the atmosphere to the food and the service everything is top notch. A must experience is their weekend brunch. We have gone twice and both times it has been out of this world. This was our 1st time trying supperland and everything fell just right! We found out that they didn't have any reservations available but they didn't open until 5 so we were there as soon as they opened so we didn't have to wait. The menu isn't the largest in town but it has great home cooked meals. We were told that all the entrees were large enough for 2 so we ordered the Branzino,a whole flavorful buttery white fish. Very good, we ordered the Brussels and macaroni and cheese, along with a Caesar salad that was huge, that had an authentic flavor to it. The service was top notch. Although I've heard about Supperland a few times, I never made a plan to visit until recently. I learned that, when making the reservation for brunch, patrons are required to pay for the entire bill up front. There's nothing to pay when you dine unless you purchase a few extra drinks, for example. Parking wasn't too bad. We parked across the street and paid less than $5.00 for 2 hours. After a short walk to the restaurant, we entered and were seated pronto. The restaurant was beautiful and it wasn't too loud. The pineapple starter arrived, which was a nice touch. As we visited the different food stations, servers everywhere were walking around the dining room with raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, and cinnamon rolls. The oysters were sooo fresh, so I ate one each time a server brought them to our table. The shrimp cocktail was better than average because the cocktail sauce had a big, spicy, burn-your-nostrils and clear-your-sinuses kick. The cinnamon rolls were served room temperature but they were still melt-in-your mouth rolls. Our waitress was a nice lady who barely spoke over a whisper. Even with perfect hearing, we had to strain and read lips to understand what she was saying. She still got the job done though. We enjoyed the experience so much, we returned one week later, again for brunch. Supperland is pricey, so I'm not planning a third visit anytime soon, but I definitely want to check out their dinner in the future. read more

Alright alright let me first just say, BELIEVE THE HYPE. Everything about this place was top tier. The food, incredible. The ambiance, unrivaled. But folks the service really stole the show and that's tough because the first two were seriously great. I went for my birthday dinner and had a great time! We first got seated and were having drinks, a fly fell on the table. No big deal - they have an outside patio and the door opens and closes constantly as servers and guests come and go. I didn't mind and so I went to kill the fly with my napkin. 30 seconds later a staff member runs over says "excuse me but I think I saw you kill a fly a moment ago." Folks let me tell you I was extremely discreet when killing that thing but somehow the staff member clocked it, acknowledged it, and promptly cleaned the entire table and brought out fresh napkins and silverware. It's the details that go a long way and that moment let me know just how much care the Supperland team takes when catering to customers. 11/10 experience! read more

Beautiful place! I'm excited we finally tried this place as I'd heard great things. We went on a Thursday night and it was extremely busy! Reservations can be hard to come by. To start, we ordered the roasted oysters and sausage croquettes. Presentation was beautiful. I don't know that I'm dying to get those items again but they were pretty good. The caesar salad was fantastic. It was better than your average salad. We ordered a number of entrees, including the pot roast, pork can can, and the branzino, but the branzino was the shining star. Whatever sauce they included complemented the fish well. For sides, we had brussels sprouts and broccoli. We loved the brussels sprouts. They were cooked perfectly. Really good. Cool space, forgettable food Came here for our anniversary based on all the positive reviews. The room has a great look and feel, but the food did not earn its $416-for-two price tag. One gripe on the setup: the homemade tables have metal inlays that don't sit flush, so they create a raised lip across the surface. It's a real nuisance for family-style service -- I almost spilled a drink trying to shift things around while our server was bringing out food. The onion-crab dip was fine, but the potato chips were completely unseasoned -- not a grain of salt. The Caesar was decent but unremarkable. We split the 32 oz bone-in ribeye and added scallops: two scallops came overcooked, and the steak landed closer to medium than the medium-rare we ordered, with a grey band, a tiny spinalis, and almost no seasoning. The whipped potatoes were gluey -- one bite and I was done. Bright spots: the raspberry cream cake was excellent, and the bartender could build off-menu cocktails without blinking. Our server was friendly but steered us toward the two weakest dishes when we were on the fence. For perspective: 131 Main and Roosters aren't even my idea of top-tier restaurants -- we go often for date nights because they're close and consistent. But the worst meal I've ever had at either would beat this one by a mile, at half the price. For the money and the reputation, I expected a lot more. read more

I loved supper land! Our reservation got pushed back because we added a person and then pushed back more because the people in the table we needed were enjoying themselves. We went to the bar and had delicious drinks and the person inside suggested we get some apps at the bar and we did and they were delicious and everyone was nice and the food was really good and we were happy! When we did move inside everything we ordered was REALLY good. The beets and the carrots as appetizers or sides or whatever they were made everyone love a root vegetable. We under ordered on Steak so had to add one more, but the other food and the booze and our very nice waitress kept us happy. We had a visit from the chef and talked about cooking on fire. The building used to be a church but they turned it into a nice open concept restaurant with an open kitchenview into the dining area. The service was great and everyone was warm and welcoming! For starers we had the sausage gravy croquettes which were so nice. Crunchy on the outside and nice soft gracy stuffing on the inside. The garnishes it comes with (pickled onions and greens) were a perfect pairing. The mains are all sharable, family style. We got the Wagyu Pot Roast and Roasted Poulet Rouge with Mac and Cheese and Crispy Smashed Potatoes for sides. It was a great combo. The chicken was a tiny bit dry but very food flavor, mac and cheese went well with it. The Wagyu Pot Roast was nice but i wish it had more flavor, and the potatoes were a perfect side for the roast. The dessert was the highlight for me. The Cherry pie was the best Ive had, it came with a almond cream that I would eat by spoonful on its own. After dinner we went next door to the bat for a drink where we chatted with a super friendly bartender and had some amazing drinks. Unmatched hospitality made dining at Supperland an absolute joy. After a series of unfortunate events, we showed up to our reservation quite late. The hostess went out of her way to keep us at our beautiful chefs counter seats and I couldn't be more grateful. We loved watching everything come together and it gave us a great preview for what we wanted to order. For three people we had the beef ribs ( a special), the miso mac and cheese, charred carrots, porridge bread, mushroom risotto, and crispy potatoes. Our favorite dish was the mushroom risotto. From the time we entered we were welcomed with a smile and I noted that they mentioned preferences and allergies to our server. The renovated church gives a new feel while keeping the historic antique look present. This is exemplified by the china and silverware they used. The unlimited jumbo shrimp cocktail & oysters on the half shell alone made it worth it! It was our first time visiting-- the ambiance is beautiful and I really enjoyed seeing all the little details (refurbished tables, custom plates, etc.) Our server, Blair(e), was spectacular. I appreciated her input on the food choices and she was very helpful in explaining how most items were family style and what the portion sizes were. We ended up ordering the pot roast and two sides-- Brussels and broccoli. The pot roast was cooked well, very tender... although it was pretty salty and one note flavor wise. The Brussels in my opinion were the star of the show, while my husband really enjoyed the broccoli. Now offering dinner service on the patio! The tables aren't covered but it's fairly shady during that time of day. We had the wagyu pot roast, mac, and local tomato and peach salad. The salad was very tasty and fresh but the portion was small. The pot roast was a bit salty and I was hoping for more flavor from the miso mac but overall they were good. Great restaurant that is very hard to get into on a whim, I'd recommend a reservation. Set in an old church the decor is amazing and the food is top notch. It's a pricey place, but delicious. Known mostly for their steaks, we opted for scallops and they were tender, buttery and melted in our mouths. The sides were plentiful and sooo flavorful. Brussels with thick cuts of bacon, carrots in a sauce that was tangy and sweet and mushrooms risotto to bring it all together. I accidentally booked my reservation for the following weekend, but the hostess made sure to get us a table tonight anyway. Everything we ordered we shared, which is part of the potluck motif. Started with a French onion dip and chips, which remind me of sour cream and onion chips in a good way. It was creamy and the onion wasn't too overpowering. The ribeye was cooked to a nice medium rare but I thought it could've used something more to add flavor. The bass special was flakey and tender. The miso mac was some of the best I've had, so creamy and flavorful. Not the combo I would've expected to love. The mushroom risotto was creamy and herbaceous, some of the best I've had in a while. The Brussel sprouts were good but I don't usually get those so I'm trusting what other people said. Didn't order dessert but they brought us a small coconut pastry which was good. The waitress was very attentive to us and was constantly changing out our silverware & clearing or table. The restaurant was quite busy because it was brunch and they do stay extremely packed. Wine was good but for 15.00 a glass, one would have liked to get a little bigger pour. The steak was excellent but was just on the line of being over cooked.(we asked for Medium rare, and more on the rare side)Glad my husband was ok with it. Loved the creamed spinach .got the smashed potatoes which were ok, the Aoili was ok, but the red really through me off. I think I might have preferred a parsley, garlic butter . We tried so many different items but the ones that stuck out were the croquettes they were delicious and not your typical which made it even better. Church or restaurant? Supperland used to be an established church, but has since turned into a restaurant for fine dining. They also have their own bar next to the restaurant if you want to get a drink while waiting for your reservations (which I did). The main thing I wanted to try was their Wagyu NY Strip (120): 16oz MS 7-8 wagyu, salt, pepper, fire - served sliced. With Jumbo Lump Crab Topper (18): 2oz of miso-butter poached lump crab. It was delicious! The meat was tender, very flavorful, just the right amount of fat making it delectable, and perfect served medium rare. The crab topper was a nice addition to the dish, pure crab meat is always a good idea. Then I got the Miso Mac & Cheese (16): South Carolina miso mornay, bite-sized shells topped with miso cream as well as the Wood-Oven Brussels (15): dijon, lemon, bacon fat, bacon lardons, pecans as sides to go along with the main course. I was pretty happy with my Mac & cheese decision, it went well with the steak, but I just with the portion was a bit larger. I didn't like the Brussels too much, they were a bit too salty for my liking. Otherwise, the service was great, and the food was up there as well. I still think Supperland is a great restaurant overall and would recommend visiting. However, there were some misses during our visit last night which bring down my original rating. 1. It took them at least 20 mins to seat us even though we had a reservation. 2. The sauce served over the roasted oysters was the most appalling thing I've been served in a restaurant. I'm assuming whoever prepared it made a mistake bc the salt was quadruple what it probably should have been. If I could've, I would've spat it out right there. The rest of the our party thought I was exaggerating until they made the mistake of trying one themselves. We sent them back and the dish was taken off the plate, but wow I am still shocked by that. 3. The poulet rouge, which I loved last time, was so bland and dry this time. 4. The chocolate chunk cookies were nothing special. The wagyu pot roast, smashed potatoes, caviar service, seafood tower, mushroom risotto, and miso Mac n cheese were all really yummy. The banana pudding sundae was tasty as well, but again, I think their desserts are egregiously overpriced. Otherwise, service was great, the decor is nice, and it's a lively restaurant. I was impressed at the restaurant concept , old church turned into a restaurant, well decorated ( a combination of old world , rustic , modern) with gorgeous high ceilings which allows the much needed air circulation given the open kitchen bbq concept. I enjoyed sitting at the bar watching how the food was prepared ( though I probably wouldn't love it during the summer and if you don't like smelling like bbq - think Korean bbq ). Every dish ( southern style ) was delicious ( well thought of menu taking classics and elevating them ). We had the croquettes , corn salad , steak and deconstructed vegetable pot pie ( the curry sauce made it so decorous ). Service was fantastic from the host , to the server and sommelier .
